Your TotSites Journal is looking more like a traditional Blog
After you spend anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes writing a journal entry on your TotSite, it’s encouraging when you know someone is *reading* it! (Don’t forget journal entries makes a great keepsake for YOU to look back on years from now as well.) Sure you can see who signed the guestbook or how many visitors you had to the site but it really doesn’t let you know if they checked out the details on your latest trip to the zoo.
Many of you have asked for a feature allowing your friends and family to leave comments on your journal similar to traditional blogs. We agree that it’s a great idea and added it to TotSites! When a visitor reads a journal entry there is a new link named “comments”. If they follow the link they will be able to share their thoughts on Baby’s first steps, the backyard adventure from last weekend or the story on how your little one came into this world.
You can control which comments appear on your site once you login and go to the journal section. You will see a new comment icon 
that will allow you to view, delete, hide or mark comments as spam.
In addition to the new comments feature, there were other changes to the Journal section:
- - Added an optional Title
- - Fixed a few minor formatting issues
- - Removed the top journal navigation barÂ
- - When managing your journal, you will now see a preview rather than the entire journal entry
We will be adding visitor comments to other areas of your site in the near future.

Absolutely love the changes! One more suggestion – could you have a choice as to whether the entire journal entry or just the title is shown on the website? (i.e. if you just show the entry’s titles it may be easier for the viewers to browse through them and select which one they want to read).

I love it! Another thought along the same line – how about comments on the polls? That way viewer can comment on the reasoning behind their votes.

How about adding comments to the front page journal entry? Most of the new news I put on the front page, and it would be nice to be able to see comments there too!

I love Melissa’s suggestion about just showing the titles of the journals so visitors can click on a certain journal entries to read instead of having to look through all the pages. the new features are great – thanks for all you do.

Yes! I agree, just the titles of the journals would be great!! My family just LOVES our totsite! We’ve done several others in the past, but none were as neat as this!! THANKS A MILLION!

This is a great new feature! It gives people a chance to respond to individual thoughts and events. I also think this would be useful on the photos page, as many of my viewers have said this would be fun to do!

I wanted to say thanks to those of you who posted your comments and suggestions. Once the “comments” feature is added to the photos, we will revisit the journal section and make a few more updates.
It is likely we will add “comments” to most areas of your site in the upcoming months!

another suggestion for journal – be able to order them like you rearrange and order the photo section. I sometimes make more than one journal entry a day (to update or clarify something that was written in another journal entry) and the last entry I make goes behind the first one I made from the day – the order doesn’t make sense. I’d like it to the other way around. The last entry I type should the first (or latest to appear) on the journal page.

Hello Stephanie,
We will add it to the list for the next journal update. Likely we will let you add an “hour” for each entry as well. It will not show on the site itself but will let you order them properly.
