Going Overseas

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Our latest Premium design draws inspiration from a trip I’m taking in a few months to eastern Africa. The Savanna Design is now live. Wildlife rumbles across the plains and the setting sun glows in the dusty evening. Think of it as a slightly more grown-up version of the Safari theme, for those adventurous explorers out there.

Time to “Announce” in Style: Newspaper Design

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

If you are telling the world that you’re pregnant, excited to tell everyone about the birth of your little one, or jumping for joy when your little one start to potty train – the Newspaper Design might be a fun way to do it!

You have two versions to choose from: Newspaper with breakfast (do you eat while reading the paper?) or without breakfast. One might be a bit messier than the other but for many it’s more realistic!

Have fun with the design. If you have an interesting announcement example feel free to share it with everyone!

Brownies…

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

…I think that’s what I’m going to start calling all of the fans of our popular Brown design. We received requests for a another complimentary color to go with it, something a little more gender-neutral. So now you can choose Brown + Green!

We’ve also got a couple new designs that we’re working on right now. One is in response to several requests we’ve received, and all I can say is that the release will be “newsworthy.” The other, an adventure style theme, was inspired by an upcoming photo excursion I’m taking this fall. Stylistically they’re both fairly different from anything we’ve published so far, so I think they’ll both be great additions to our selection of themes. Stay tuned to the blog for the release announcements.

Enjoy the summer sun and stay out of the heat!

Your TotSites Journal is looking more like a traditional Blog

Friday, July 6th, 2007

After you spend anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes writing a journal entry on your TotSite, it’s encouraging when you know someone is *reading* it! (Don’t forget journal entries makes a great keepsake for YOU to look back on years from now as well.) Sure you can see who signed the guestbook or how many visitors you had to the site but it really doesn’t let you know if they checked out the details on your latest trip to the zoo.

Many of you have asked for a feature allowing your friends and family to leave comments on your journal similar to traditional blogs. We agree that it’s a great idea and added it to TotSites! When a visitor reads a journal entry there is a new link named “comments”. If they follow the link they will be able to share their thoughts on Baby’s first steps, the backyard adventure from last weekend or the story on how your little one came into this world.

You can control which comments appear on your site once you login and go to the journal section. You will see a new comment icon manage journal comments that will allow you to view, delete, hide or mark comments as spam.

Adding comments to your journal

In addition to the new comments feature, there were other changes to the Journal section:

  • - Added an optional Title
  • - Fixed a few minor formatting issues
  • - Removed the top journal navigation bar
  • - When managing your journal, you will now see a preview rather than the entire journal entry

We will be adding visitor comments to other areas of your site in the near future.

Have fun!
