Using Windows Movie Maker >> Getting Started Getting started with Windows Movie Maker: Most digital cameras with video or camcorders allow you to import your video to the computer. Refer to the manual for your camera on getting the movie on your computer. Once transferred, open Windows Movie Maker and then click on “Import Video”. A window will open allowing you to select your movie file. Once you click OK it will break apart your raw video into separate “clips” that you can work with individually. The movie editing area, or storyboard, is located at the bottom of the screen. The storyboard is simply a way for you to organize the clips in your movie. To add your video to the storyboard, simply “drag and drop” one of your clips into the storyboard boxes. NOTE: The bottom area actually has two views. The "Storyboard" view lays out each clip as if on a storyboard, showing you the first frame for each clip. This is a great view for moving clips around and rearranging the clips so you have the "flow" that you want. The other view, the "Timeline" view is where you edit your clips, trimming out unwanted scenes. This is a great view for more precise editing of your clips. Now that you have your clips on the storyboard the real fun begins. Under the “Edit Movie” tab on the left, you can select to view video effects and video transitions.
