Summer fun has begun!
posted on 06/26/2009

So much has been going on in little Alexandra's world, I'm not even sure where to start or the order in which it has all happened! Thank goodness for baby's first year calendars so I can record everything. It's hard to believe that so few months are left in that first year!

Over Memorial Day weekend, Ally Rae pulled herself up to standing for the first time. Daddy came inside from working in the yard to see and she gave a huge "I'm so proud of myself" grin for him. A week or so later, the cruising began. YIKES! Now, she walks while holding on to any piece of furniture she can find and crawls at a speedy pace to everywhere else she wants to go. Shortly after figuring out the standing and crusing, she finally decided it was time to sit unassisted. Crazy girl. That's all out of order! She'd been sitting alone for just a few seconds at a time for months but now sits for unlimited amounts of time and goes from sitting to crawling and crawling to sitting. Needless to say, the coffee table has been moved to the basement to give Ally more playing room and decrease the chances of injuries. She'd taken quite a liking to crawling on the shelf under it and the sharp corners do nothing for Mommy's sanity!

The last weekend of May Ally's Aunt Chelsea moved to Kansas City from St. Louis. It's been fun to have her around and Ally Rae is really getting to know her now. She has spent quite a bit of time at our house and I got some really fun pictures of the 2 of them playing on the floor.

On June 6 we took Ally Rae to our neighborhood pool for the first time. She looked so cute in her Minnie Mouse swim suit, sandles and sun hat! She got in the pool with Grammy and Daddy and had a blast! I was shocked! The water was far from warm, or even comfortable! She splashed so hard and so much that she choked herself a few times and we had to take her out to keep her from swallowing anymore water! Such a little fish she may be. Since that day at the pool, bath time has become quite "fun" as well. The splashing has carried over and she gets choked sometimes in the tub too. She's doing a good job of getting Mommy pretty darn wet in the process too!

Right at 8 months she started clapping and saying "aaaay!" (yay) which is just too cute. She says it with such a soft, sweet, calm voice. A little over a week later, she took off crawling out of the living room after the kitties and when the kitties ran away, she was left bored in the foyer...insert the discovery of the stairs here. It didn't take her any longer than just a few minutes to figure out that after standing and hold onto the bottom and second stair that she could lift a knee up and pull up to standing on the first step. Oh my! Surprised If I hadn't been so concerned with watching her I would've grabbed the camera for a picture. I did get one a week later with her knee up. Check the pics for it.

Father's Day weekend was quite eventful for such a tiny life. Nana and Papa came for a couple days and stayed overnight. Ally Rae got to go to her first Cardinals @ Royals game at Kauffman Stadium. We got her a super cute 2-piece outfit with red ruffles on the butt as well as on the bottom of the shirt and a cardinal logo on the top piece with a screen printing that makes the it look like it has baseball stitching. She did a great job cheering on the Cardinals to a win even if she did nap through most of the innings (it was rediculously hot which wears her out). Wink

On Father's Day we went to lunch with Nana and Papa before they had to head home and enjoyed Baskin Robbins ice cream cake which is Daddy's favorite. That evening her top right tooth came through! I'd been able to see it for a couple weeks just under the surface and the point finally made an appearance on Sunday. I can now see 2 more on the top (top 2 left ones) and wouldn't be surprised to see them in the next week or so. They're so close!

With all the teething going on lately I decided to go ahead and replace the Amber bracelet she's had for several months with an Amber necklace. She'd discovered the bracelet when I quit putting socks on her now that it's hot out and would pull on it so hard while sitting in her carseat that she stretched it out. I was beginning to fear she'd break it and we'd have tiny beads everywhere. No good. So, I found a baby-sized Baltic Amber necklace and the beads are strung on silk (which doesn't stretch like her bracelet) and individually tied on so if it were to break, only one would come off and not all. Since it's always hanging inside her shirt (has to be against her skin) she leaves it alone and we take it off at bedtime, just in case.

She's been attending cheerleading practice with me in the mornings (6-9:30am) at the high school and when she's awake (usually sleeps through half of it at least) she really enjoys the girls. She gives big grins, yells at them, and gets super excited when they run their competition routine as she loves the music and the choreography. She's always after their water bottles too. They get quite a kick out of her as well!

Be sure to check out all the new photos I've added from the last few weeks! It's amazing to watch all the little things she learns everyday and I feel blessed daily to be home to see them. Thanks for catching up on our little love!

Let the fun (read: baby-proofing) begin!
posted on 05/19/2009

Ally Rae has got this crawling thing figured out! She'll go several steps with her hands and knees before pushing herself with her feet on her tummy. It's very cute! She gets a little bored with having to work so hard and take her time to do it right so she gives up and gets there faster by just scooting. She has a little swagger to her butt when she crawls too. Ha! Needless to say, we've had to do some saftety baby-proofing in the last couple days. Our fireplace hearth is now padded and something has got to be done about the cords by the TV. She goes for them constantly and it's getting harder to redirect. She gets an idea in her head and that's it, no stopping her! Maybe she's just practicing being driven, ambitious, and determined? Not bad qualities! Haha!

Check out the pics for Ally's first pig tail 'do! I didn't think she could possibly get any cuter but she is with pig tails! It's just too much!

She says "hi" at random people now, when you least expect it. Very cute of course! She's also working on waving and does it when she feels like it but not "on-command" yet. She shakes her whole arm when she does it and seems to favor her left arm for waving.

What happened to my baby girl?!
posted on 05/12/2009

My tiny little baby girl has been replaced with big girl! Ally Rae has really changed in the last couple months. Her hair is now a light strawberry color and is so long it hangs in her eyes if I don't put a bow in it! She's wearing 3-6mo clothes for the most part and at 6mo was 15lbs and 27.5"! She's in the 97th% for height and 25th% for weight. I can't imagine who she takes after!

Around Easter she started pushing herself up into a push up/plank position like she wanted to do a bear-crawl. Now Ally Rae gets herself on her knees or up in the bear-crawl position and can move her legs but can't quite figure out the arms. She looks like an inch worm pulling her knees under her and the falling on her tummy and scooting her arms. It's very cute! She certainly gets where she wants to go and is into everything! Her favorite thing to do lately is pull the basket over that has her toys in it. Funny thing is, she doesn't want the toys, she wants the Classic Pooh lining of the basket with the bow! There are a few pics of her wearing the basket as a hat or looking very proudly at the camera after pulling it over.

She has become quite the camera ham too! She hears the camera or sees the flash and immediately turns to it and gives a big grin! It's a shame no one ever tells her how cute she is...

Auntie Kat discovered her first tooth on Friday May 1! She'd boycotted naps that whole week (though she slept fine at night) and this was apparently why! The Friday that first tooth came through she slept almost all day. Poor little thing had worked hard and was exhausted! The following Wednesday I found the second tooth! She'd had a rough couple days of barely napping so I wasn't surprised to see it. Her little smile has changed now that there are teeth present! She doesn't cover her bottom gums with her tongue anymore! She wants to show off those little teeth! Can you spot them in any of the most recent pics? There are a couple pics where they glisten. :-)

Ally Rae has discovered television commercials. What a goof! She loves the music and stops what she's doing immediately and turns to the TV when she hears something that strikes her fancy. She definitely shows preferences in music too. She seems to recognize songs I sing to her and responds when she hears them from other sources (like a CD or on iTunes). "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles is one she really likes as well as any iPhone commercial.

Keeping with the love of music, Ally Rae hums while she nurses now and does it more when she's sleepy. It's so funny and absolutely adorable! She changes pitch and volume (from loud to louder...) and it's easy to tell when she's really asleep because she stops singing. Haha!

We spent Mother's Day weekend with Ryan's parents (Nana & Papa) in Kahoka. It was so sweet to get to celebrate a day that honors the hard work of Moms and reminds them just why they work so hard...for the little blessings that are their children. I got a card from Ryan for my first Mother's Day last year when I was only about 18wks pregnant but it's such a different feeling this year when I look at my little love outside of my body. It really is true when they say a baby is like wearing your heart on the outside. I got a beautiful bouquet of flowers this year that are now displayed on my fireplace mantle. We enjoyed a french toast breakfast and a steak dinner and of course I got lots of cuddles from Ally Rae!

New Tricks, New Diapers, and Teeth, OH MY!
posted on 03/05/2009

Things have gotten exciting in Ally Rae's life! She's actively teething and was getting pretty cranky with it. She sleeps fine still but was not her normal, happy self during the day. So, we went to our local natural baby store Happybottomus in Lee's Summit (www.happybottomus.com) and got an Amber Teething Bracelet. Amber excretes an oil that, when it mixes with a natural chemical in our body, has a calming and soothing effect. I was skeptical at first but you all know that I'm all about trying the natural option before resorting to anything else like medication or plastic teethers. I put the bracelet on her ankle so she'd leave it alone and she has been a completely different baby since then! I'm a believer! She's back to being my happy girl! Her evenings are more pleasant and she just seems generally more comfortable. They make these in a necklace variety for babies as well as adult sizes since it's not just for teething but to calm and soothe in general.

Ally's getting pretty good at immitating. She's been blowing raspberries for a few weeks and has started trying to make a kissing noise when I do it to her. It's awfully cute! I managed to get the raspberries on video too. I tried to upload it here but the file is too big so, as soon as I figure out how to decrease the file size I'll try again so you all can see! I have a video of her squeeling and talking a lot too that I'd like to share.

About 4 weeks ago, Ally had a pretty bad diaper rash that I could not get to go away after using Triple Paste cream for about 4-5 days. So, I switched to cloth wipes and it got better. I decided at that point that cloth diapers were the way to go for us. I did a LOT of research and discovered cloth diapers are nothing like they used to be and was shocked at what is in disposable diapers/wipes! They are now very user friendly and just like disposables as far as ease of use. We got her in cloth about 3 weeks ago and tried about a dozen different varieties/brands and settled on a couple that have great absorbancy, a trim fit, and are super cute! We're using mostly Swaddlebee's Econappi's and Rump-a-Rooz which are both one-size-fits-most pocket diapers. What this means is Ally can wear the same diaper until she has potty-learned which is great for the pocket book! There are snaps that adjust the rise of the dipe (how high it goes on her belly) and either snaps or Aplix (soft version of Velcro) around the waist so we get a great fit on her tiny little frame. They call them pocket diapers because they literally have a pocket in them that you slide an insert into for the absorbancy part of the diaper. This allows you to adjust the absorbancy for overnight vs. daytime use. When I change her diaper, I pull the insert out (or shake it out if it's a nasty one!) and toss it in a "wetbag" (cloth outer, polyurithane laminated inner bag with a zipper top). When the bag is full I dump all of the diapers in the wash and that's all there is to it. Very simple. The diapers can be dried but I prefer to hang them so they'll have a longer life and it saves on some household energy too. If you're going to be green with diapers, why not go green when you wash them?! Now we're just looking forward to warmer weather so we don't have to cover up and hide such cute diapers! Who knew a diaper could be a fashion statement?

Ally Rae, thumb sucker
posted on 02/02/2009

Ally has officially become a thumb-sucker. I will admit it's awfully cute! She purposefully puts her thumb in her mouth and hooks her first finger over her nose and sucks away. I feel like such a mean Mommy because I take it out in hopes she won't make a habit of it. Haha! She also likes to put her fist in her mouth and then open her fingers and it gags her. She hasn't figured out yet that she can prevent this and it makes her really mad when she does it. I think she must be working on some teeth because her fingers are constantly in her mouth and she'll chew on anything she gets her hands on, especially Mommy and Daddy's fingers! She puts one finger in her mouth to chew on, hooks it over her gums and then pulls it out forcefully. It looks like it would hurt but it doesn't seem to bother her at all. Keeping her nails trimmed has become a priority because of all this.

She has figured out other super cute things too. She can scoot herself in circles, like the hands of a clock. She's trying to get to her toys but can't scoot straight yet and it frustrates her which is pretty funny too. She's really into laying on her quilt in the living room and yelling at the fish tanks. Her Daddy is curious as to what she's telling them! Her conversations are quite serious she has with Happy Apple and Eeyore too. :-)

She's getting pretty good at sitting on her own for several seconds. Her balance is getting much better and she's able to self-correct sometimes when she starts to lean to the sides.

Her kisses have gotten super sloppy! She recognizes when you're leaning in to kiss her and she opens her mouth in anticipation. So cute! She also loves to nuzzle her Daddy and leave wet kisses! She's really become very affectionate and loves to sing. Mommy sings to her all the time and she squeals right back as if to sing soprano. Her favorite right now is the Kitty in the Basket song. "My kitty has gone from her basket. My kitty has gone up a tree. My kitty has gone from her basket. Oh bring back my kitty to me! Bring back, bring back, oh bring back my kitty to me, to me. Bring back, bring back, oh bring back my kitty to me!" She also likes "I love you a bushel and a peck". She likes the doodle-doodle-doodle-doo part at the end.

She gave her first big, full, belly laugh a week ago. It was during her bath and I guess it must tickle when we pour the water on her tummy. She was laughing contageously! I wish we'd thought to bring the camcorder upstairs to capture it as she hasn't done it since! She laughs like that all the time in her sleep but her waking laughs are always her sucking air in like she can't figure out how to make the right noise. Ha! It inevitably gives her the hiccups and that really makes her mad! Poor little girl gets the hiccups several times a day and they're so big they shake her whole body!

We got a new baby carrier! It's a Zolowear Ring Sling. It's a prettier carrier that is more simple than the Moby wrap we love so much. It will be easier for trips out of the house because it requires less to get her in it as there's nothing for me to wrap around my body. It just slips over my head, rests on my shoulder, and she sits in the pouch. We've gotten really good at the Moby but wanted something a little prettier for date night and lighter weight for nicer weather. She loves being worn and we love having her cuddled so close. She's a much happier baby and will sleep better in public when we wear her.

She's now feeling comfortable napping alone for her shorter naps during the day. This is great for Mommy and the state of our house! Laundry gets done more frequently and the living room gets picked up daily. Quite a change from the first several weeks of her life! She takes 2 short naps (45min or so) in the morning and then a long nap (2-3 hours) in the late afternoon. Daddy usually wears her while Mommy works out in the evening and she'll cat nap then too which is nice so Daddy can get dinner going. When she's ready for bed she tells us. This is normally between 9-9:30pm and she'll sleep until at least 3am before she wants to eat again. She wakes up when Daddy kisses her goodbye in the morning but then goes back to sleep until at least 9am. She has become a great sleeper! She's very opinionated though! When she wants something, she makes it known and she wants it NOW. Haha! Such a personality already! I love this.

Opinionated Already!
posted on 12/04/2008

Now that I have 2 free hands, I'll tell you a bit more about my little love.

She absolutely LOVES to be worn in her Moby Wrap. It's a 15' long 30" wide piece of fabric that I wrap around my body in a particular way and she is then carried in it. We both adore this and she falls asleep almost immediately when I snuggle her into it. I'll try to take some pics of us baby wearing and add those to the gallery. :) This is how we spend a lot of our days. I can get more done if I'm wearing her and she's certainly a happier baby when she's in it. We even workout together. She especially likes it when I do plie squats. What a silly girl! Baby wearing is really saving my spine too. Carrying her around wears out my arms and I find myself slouching something awful. The Moby offers so much support and I can stand up straight since I don't have to hold on to her.

Ally Rae hates to be held in a reclined position. She'd much rather be sitting up and looking around at her new world or standing up. She can support her own weight and only needs to be balanced.

Her newest fun time is laying in the bouncey seat Aunt Sue and Uncle Ron got her. I set it in front of our big Christmas tree and she loves looking at the twinkle lights. It's so funny to watch her smile and talk to a fake tree! Haha! She gets so excited that she kicks her legs really fast and can get the seat to bounce. She even fell asleep in it earlier today and stayed asleep long enough for Mommy to get her hair washed and styled. YAY!

So big!
posted on 12/02/2008

Ally Rae is really growing up. It's amazing how time is moving. She's at her happiest first thing in the morning and is full of smiles and giggles. She coo's a lot too. Mt favorite is when she lets out a little "ooo" right after she sneezes. She enjoys working out with Mommy while in her Moby Wrap and loves it when Mommy bounces on the stability ball. All of this puts her to sleep. We were shocked when she rolled from her tummy to her back at 5 1/2 weeks old. She even showed off for her Nana (Nancy, Ryan's Mom)! We spent the whole week of Thanksgiving at Nana & Papa's in Kahoka. She got to meet Great-Grandma Huffman, Aunt Debbie, Uncle David, cousin Jachin, cousin Leah, Anna, George, Ed & Kathy Wilson, Janet & Isaiah, Amber & Dylan Butler, and Julie Cattleman. It was a busy week! She did great on the long drive there and back and only needed to stop and eat once. Ally Rae visited 2 new states too; Iowa & Illinois. She's been to 4 states already!

More to come later....Ally Rae needs me now. :-)

Ally Rae's birth story
posted on 10/09/2008

The Natural Birth of Alexandra

The players:

Ryan-Daddy

Am-my best friend and Doula

Dr. Michele-OB

I went to the gym to take an aerobics class on Monday night (10-6) and then went to Grandma Yocum’s to spend time with her after her knee surgery. Ryan, Nancy, & Kellen were there too. I was having my normal Braxton Hicks that were no more than my tummy getting really tight but they never ended up going away really. I was up about 6x overnight to pee because they were so tight but still causing me absolutely no pain or discomfort so I didn't think anything of them. Ryan got up at about 6:15am Tues morning (10-7) and I couldn't get back to sleep so I just watched TV in our room while he got ready. He left at about 7:15am and I noticed my back started hurting but again didn't think anything of it because I'd been adjusted the day before and it's normal for me to be sore. I did start seeing a pattern that my back hurt with the Braxton Hicks and felt better if I put my fist on it. This was my first clue that something might be happening. It still wasn't painful really just kind of annoying because I really wanted to sleep some more. I finally got frustrated and got up at about 7:45am to see if I could get the Braxton Hicks to calm down. I cleaned the house, ate breakfast, and drank a bunch of water and nothing changed. So, I texted my Am to see how long it should take for them to calm down or go away if you change what you're doing. She said an hour probably and it had been about an hour and half and nothing was any different. I had texted Ryan earlier to let him know I’d been losing pieces of my plug since last night. I decided to email him now to let him know that maybe something was happening since my ctx were 3-4 min apart and lasting about 1:15 min but there was no need for him to come home or anything since I still just wasn't sure. He texted me an hour later to see if anything had changed and I let him know that things definitely weren't stopping but I was still find and I'd update him in another hour. I’d been talking to Am all morning and she couldn’t tell that I was having any contractions at all but they were so minor this didn’t surprise me. It was maybe a 3 on a pain scale of 1-10. I decided at about 11:30am that I was going to take a shower and do my hair and makeup just to kill time and see if that made a difference in the "contractions". While I was in the shower I noticed that I couldn't stay totally upright during a one and leaned up against the shower wall. It still wasn't painful but it was getting more uncomfortable and my legs felt a little weak. I called my Am after I got done getting ready and she was shocked that she couldn't tell when I was having a contraction but said I definitely sounded different in general and she wasn't surprised that the shower seemed to help things progress. I finally texted Ryan again and said he should probably start wrapping things up at work and come home when he could but I was still fine and there was no need to hurry or get excited. He got home about an hour and a half later (about 1:45pm) to find me watching Across the Universe (for the music and distraction) and had just gotten to the point where I was working through the contractions by either leaning on the counter or rocking on my hands and knees. We walked circles around the house and things were really beginning to change and intensify. Am left her house at about 2pm and lives 2 hours away so we just labored at home waiting for her. By 3pm I was becoming vocal with the contractions, using the low moan with a deep breath to encourage things to open. Am arrived at about 4:15pm and I was really having to work by then. I was SOO happy to see her! I really needed her help and Ryan needed her to help too because he couldn't think of any ways to help me as we tried it all by then (position changes, back rub, hip squeeze, etc). At 5pm I said, "I think we need to go" and Ryan had already loaded the car and such and we headed out. The hospital is about a 45 min drive from us which was torture but we made it in 30 min because Ryan was driving like 90. Ha! Unfortunately we got caught in rush hour traffic and that delayed us just a bit. I remember saying, "Come on people! Get out of my way! Don't you know what I'm trying to do here?!" Yeah, like that worked...haha! Am and I worked through a few contractions in the main hospital entrance while Ryan parked the car and brought in a few things. We went to the maternity ward and got in a room (stopped in a hallway and again just inside the ward for a contraction), declined the admission blood work and got an initial monitor reading. Am held it on my tummy so I could be on my hands and knees, and the nurse checked me (my request). I was 4-5cm and 100% effaced. This was at about 6:15pm. After the initial strip was done the nurse ok'd me to get in the tub. It didn't seem to help during the contractions since they were SOO intense by then and not really stopping but it did help me relax a little more in between the peaks. I think this was when transition started. An hour after the first check I requested another check and I was 6cm. This really worried me because I totally felt like I was at the end and I still had 4cm to go! Shortly after that things seemed to change again and I swore my body had to be close because the pressure was ridiculously intense and I could feel my bottom bulging. My water broke sometime around here but we don’t know for sure since I never felt it or anything. The nurse overheard me telling this to Am and said she was going to go ahead and page Dr. Michele to get on property and have her check me when she got there. Dr. Michele got there at about 8pm and checked me to find that I had dilated fully on my left side but had a tiny piece left on the right but it was so tiny that she was confident I was ready to push and could push through it easily. Apparently, I'd gone from 6cm to complete in about 45 min! No wonder I thought the end had to be near...my body had gone into warp mode! We think I must've hit transition about the time we got to the hospital and things just flew from there. So they got me out of the tub (no hospital will allow a water birth) and dried off, I got to the bed, and they got a better feel for the baby, listening for the heart rate and Dr. Michele felt for her head. I was on my back at this point but my Dr. Michele said I could turn over after this if I wanted to push on my hands and knees. She then suddenly asked for an ultrasound machine and I quickly asked what she was worried about. I was pushing through contractions by now, still on my back; did about 2 or 3. She said she wasn't sure baby was head down. I said, "You've got to be kidding! Baby has been head down this whole pregnancy!" She couldn't get a good view on the ultrasound and practically threw the wand and told the nurse to get it out the room and decided to go by what it looked and felt like instead. She said, "Nope, it's a head...there's hair!" PHEW! So, I turned over to my elbows and knees so I could get better leverage to push backwards since I knew that's how I felt the strongest. I remember saying “I don’t know how to push.” It took a few contractions to figure out how but after that Dr. Michele kept saying how strongly I was pushing and how well the baby was moving down. I was able to see the head on the next contractions and just a few contractions later, her head was out! She never really crowned, just went from head in to head out! I of course had a big mirror and watched the whole thing. Dr. Michele asked me to stop pushing so I did and then she told me to go ahead and push again. The shoulders came out super easy and I felt such a relief by this time that I really thought she was out. My OB said to give her one more push because apparently her tummy and legs weren't out. I barely pushed and out she came! I pushed for a total of about 20 min and ended up with a 1st degree tear, requiring only 2 small stitches that I didn't even know she'd done until after I delivered the placenta when she told me. I turned over to pull her to me and was met by Ryan right in my face and he said, "It's a girl!" I said, "You're kidding?!!!!" We were both shocked and couldn't stop giggling. We of course exchanged "I love you's”, kisses, and he told me how proud he was of me and awesome I'd done. I nursed immediately while we waited for the cord to go limp and to get a feeling that the placenta was ready to come out which I never got. She got a cord blood sample after the majority of the blood had gotten to my little girl and sent it to the lab for a typing. We needed to know whether Rhogam was necessary. The cord wasn't very long. It was long enough that she rested comfortably on my chest but that's it. My Dr. Michele checked to see where the placenta was after a bit because I hadn’t had any crampy feelings and to her surprise said, "Oh! It's just sitting here waiting! Go ahead and give a little push." It turns out, my placenta had detached already and I just didn't ever feel the contractions that signaled to push it out. I gave one little push and it was out. She showed it to me and explained everything about it which was really neat. Even Ryan thought it was fascinating. They took Ally Rae at this time to get a weight and length. She weighed 6lbs 13.2oz and was 18.5” long, just a tiny squirt! Nikki, the nursery nurse, put her under the warmer for a bit to get her body temp up where it need to be, my nurse got me cleaned up just a bit and then we welcomed our family in at about 10:15pm. Kellen took one look at her and said, “She looks just like Ryan; it’s kinda freakin’ me out!” Ha! My Mom of course thinks she looks just like I did at birth. Everyone left at 10:45pm and my nurse helped get me up and to the bathroom to pee and show me how to use the peri bottle, pads, Tucks, etc. While I was in the bathroom they took out the hospital/delivery bed and folded the family queen sized bed down from the wall (Murphy Bed) and got it ready for us all to sleep in. I got comfy in bed and Ryan gave Ally Rae her fist bath with some guidance from Nikki. We didn't get much sleep of course with the nurse coming in all night for vitals and learning to breastfeed. Dr. Brooks got there at about 10 til 6 the next morning and released Ally Rae to go home whenever we were ready. We declined everything except the hearing test and got those waiver papers signed and no one gave us a hard time at all. Dr. Michele came at about 8am and said I was good to go anytime we were ready. We decided to stay through the majority of the day and go home that evening. Ally Rae was 6lbs 10oz at the time of discharge which is good. She only lost about 3oz. We got home at about 6:45pm (10-8-08) and my Mom, Kathleen, and Bobby had made us dinner which was so nice to come home to. Rhett and Gus are still trying to figure out what the heck is going on in their house but they've sniffed her a few times. They don’t seem upset at all, just unsure. We all doing great, breastfeeding has been successful and I'm just waiting for my milk to come in. She's nursing about every 3 hours (have to undress her to wake her up) and is taking both sides for about 15 min each.
