May!
posted on 05/27/2009

May has been a nice month! The kids seem to be doing so much better! We have not been to the doctor a hundred times this Month! Justus has really developed his own personality and I am scared!! He has such a temper but at the same time he can be so sweet! He is most certainly a Mommy's Boy!

May 6th Justus learned how to sit up on his own and he got his first tooth! May 24th he really started to figure out how to "crawl". He sort of uses his feet and hands to crawl and scoot he is not sure about using his knees! I can not believe that he turned 9 Months old today time has flew by!

Ansley is a mess, I Love Her to Death but she is all attitude, Dustin loves it (most of the time) but it is driving me crazy! I began potty training her a few weeks ago and she has not worn a diaper since last Thursday!! She has had a few accidents but nothing major! So I am very excited about that! She says more and more everyday and she is putting sentences together constantly!

Enjoy the pictures that I took this afternon, we had a pretty good day playing outside!

March
posted on 03/20/2009

March has been crazy, I am so thankful for beautiful Weather. We are taking advantage of it every second we can. Unfortunately Ansley and Justus are having major allergy issues but we are getting that under control. As many of you know Ansley is on so much medicine right now until she can go see Dr. Ledbetter at Children's. He is a pulmonologist and hopeful he can really help us out. She see Justus' GI Doctor next week, Dr. Devoid, so that should be interesting. He is a very strait forward Doctor and really doesn't care if he hurts your feelings, which is great because he really cares about his patients. He has helped so much with Justus. SO I believe we are back to 6 medications with Ansley. and 2 (3 when needed) with Justus. Other than Allergies Justus is doing Awesome he is getting so big and he is such a happy baby. He wants to get on the move so badly and once he starts crawling I am going to be in some serious trouble!

I have more pictures to put on here. There is a picture of Ansley on Chester the Horse, you can tell from the picture that she is not to thrilled. Since then she has became very brave and even sat up there by herself the other day and rode him. I will put those pictures on here ASAP!

Up Dates...
posted on 01/29/2009

We took Ansley and Justus to the Doctor Monday. Both of the kids have RSV. Dr. Jung said that Ansley would be fine. She is older and RSV does not effect her the same as it does Justus. She told me to just watch Justus since he was breathing fine she did not recommend breathing treatments. RSV is a Respiratory Virus, so like all Virus's they just have to run their course.. Justus also has a very bad Ear Infection so he got a shot of Rusefed (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) and 10 days worth of Amoxicillin.

So This Morning I noticed Justus was wheezing, taking short quick breaths and he still had a slight fever. So I called and Dr.Jung asked me to come on in so she could check him out. As I was getting Justus out of the car to go in to the Doctors office I noticed he had pooped and it was all over the place.. YAY!! So Nurse Stacey helped me bathe him in the bathroom sink (yes it was really that bad!) once we finally got everything under control Dr. Jung came in and listened to him and said that he was definitely wheezing and he needed to start breathing treatments right away... So now he get 4 different medicines until he gets better. (Prevacid, amoxicillin, albuterol, and Tylenol!!) Oh make that 5 he also has to start a pro biotic in the morning... I really hope I remember to do everything!

On top of all this he has not gained weight he has actually lost weight over the past month. I talked to Dr. Devoids Nurse about this and she said that Dr. Devoid (the GI Doctor) wants to increase his calorie intake and see how that does. So that just means we are going to be using much more formula than before. But I do Pray that increasing his calories works and it is not something more complicated..

Thru all of this Justus is still all Smiles and Giggles! He has his moments of fussiness. But who doesn't when they feel bad?

Ansley is doing great she is just growing like crazy and getting smarter and smarter everyday! Dustin and I talk everyday about how we can't believe how our little baby girl is growing up so fast. She goes to bed on her own now, is starting to use the potty pretty well, and will talk your ears off if you will let her!

We Got Snow!! Not very much but enough for Ansley to go outside and walk around in it! I am putting the pictures on here so look for them!

Justus went to see Dr.Devoid the other day. He is pleased with his progress but wants to keep him on Prevacid, I was really hoping that my little guy could come off of that. We also get to start feeding him stage one baby foods at the end of next month!! Stage one is easy it is stage two that is a little more complicated, when we reach stage two baby food we will then have to start really reading all labels and he still wants us to stay away from oatmeal just b/c it has Gluten in it. He has lost 4 ounces but that is not a big deal, it was sort of expected with his new feeding schedule.

Ansley got croup for the 4th time. Dr. Jeanie is now wondering if it is something more serious than a bad immune system. Both Dr.Jeanie and Dr.Devoid believe that Ansley has had reflux problems for a while that has went untreated. Ansley's old doctor could not figure out what was wrong with Ansley when she was about 8 months old. Ansley was projectile vomiting and we sort of assumed that she was lactose intolerant. Come to find out she wasn't she has/had reflux and the Doctors believe it has caused damage to her esophagus and is now holding bacteria causing her to get sick more often. If the prevacid does not work then we will have to take her to a Pulmonologist. So Please Pray that it is just from the reflux and that it is not something worst.

So Can You All believe that she will be 2 years old next month!! It is unbelievable!

GI Specialist
posted on 12/22/2008

We went to the GI Specialist today and we are now officially on a schedule!

7:30 AM Previced, 8:00 AM Formula, 12:00 PM Formula, 4:00 PM Formula, 7:30 PM Previced,
8:00 PM Formula, 9:00 PM Bed!!!

He said that I should take this very seriously he wants me to be on time not one minute late or one minute to soon...  We are now feeding Justus 5-6 ounces with a teaspoon of rice per ounce. (It was 4 Ounces of Formula with 3 TBSP. every 2-3 hours) We had to throw away all of our Y-Cut nipples and go back to stage one nipples so Justus would have to work harder for his food and so it would take at least 20 minutes instead of the 5 minutes it was taking him. All of this is supposed to help with his reflux. Hopefully we will be off the medicine by next month.... And this will be a permanent schedule.
Dr. Devoid also said that Justus (all babies) was not born with the milk protein allergy they develop the allergy with in 9 weeks of age. Justus's immune system was "over active" and saw the milk protein as something it should fight off in turn causing him to be allergic. A baby has to digest 15 different proteins while an adult only digest 2 different proteins and his immune system did not like that idea....
He also said that he does not have a Fat- Mal absorption disorder he said that the protein can last in your system for a while and that is what we were seeing. We still have to stay on Progestimil. Progestimil is broken down better than Nutramigin and much easier to digest. He said that he does not recommend Nutramigin at all. Oh and hopefully if we keep him on his schedule and keep dairy and soy lecithin away from his mouth than we should expect Justus to out grow this by age 1!!!!

Oh Justus weighed 14 lbs 6 oz... He is getting so big!

Ansley stayed with our neighbor today she had a lot of fun She got away with tons I am sure! But Rhonda (my neighbor) said she was Perfect!! Rhonda has a 4 Year old and an almost 2 year old, both boy's. The older one Beau Loves Ansley so Much. He is her little boyfriend. Today when she took a nap he laid beside her and rubbed her head and kissed her cheeks!! He has also bought her jewelry!! When they went on vacation to the beach he told his Parents that he had to get her a necklace! When Justus was born he brought Ansley a Flower. He brought me one also. Oh and he has drove his little Jeep up to the house before to take her riding in it! He always tells me "I Love Ansley!"

Where has the Time Gone?
posted on 12/18/2008

I am still trying to figure out what I have done over the past few Months! It seems like such a blur! Both Ansley and Justus have changed so much. Ansley is starting to look more like a Toddler than a baby. I can not believe that in less than 2 months she will be 2 years old. She is talking so much. Something are very easy to understand other things she says I can understand but others may not. But she is getting there.

Justus is getting very big the last time we had him at the doctor he weighed 13lbs 8oz. He goes back December 26th so I am anxious to see how much he weighs then. He is starting to Grab things and he loves to watch TV. If the TV is own he watches it constantly. I know that is not all that great but he loves to watch Ansley's cartoons with her.

Justus has now been switched to Progestimil. Progestimil is a formula sort of like Nutramigen but more refined. It is for babies with a Fat Mal-Absorption Disorder. He was having a bowl movement after every feeding and they were pretty bad. The Formula has helped this out a whole lot. His Acid reflux was better but it was still pretty bad at night. So he is now on prevacid twice a day. 7 1/2 mg in the morning and 7 1/2 mg in the evening.

He is very sensitive to Dairy and Soy. We have to constantly wash our hands during the day so that we do not touch his mouth, hands or paci with our hands that may still have dairy or soy on them. I had noticed that is his Paci or something got touched before we washed our hands after eating something that he would start getting sick and spitting up. His diaper revealed the problem. So since we wash our hands like crazy now he is doing much better!

We have an appointment to take Justus to Dr.Devoid a Pediatric GI Specialist at the end of this month. If there are any cancellations they will call and schedule us sooner. Maybe we will get one sooner, b/c the sooner the better!

Finally I have time to Update!
posted on 11/19/2008

It Seems like only Yesterday Justus was born. It is So Hard for me to Sit back and Think of What I have Done over the Past 12 Weeks. I know it has been a Tough Road for Ansley, but She is starting to get the Hang of things! (And can You believe that Ansley will be Two Years Old in a few Months?)

Well Justus has had a Very Rough start in Life, but hopefully that has all been resolved by now. It seems like since he was only a few days old up until now that he has been in so much pain and he has just cried and cried and cried.... Finally His Doctor figured out that he has a Milk Protein Allergy and Switched him to a Dairy and Soy Free Formula called Nutramigen. Because he has the Allergy his risk of having allergies to Peanuts, Shell Fish, and Soy are much greater than any other baby. So we have to keep him away from all of that and when he is One he will be tested for all sorts of allergies.

The Nutramigen seemed to help him out tremendously but he still has not felt good so I took him back to the doctor today for spitting up "clear stuff" and having a horrible diaper rash. Come to find out he also has Acid Reflux, and the "Bad diaper Rash" is from the acid as well he has "Acid Burn" on his Bottom. So now Justus is on Prevacid once a day.... I seriously Hope and Pray that he starts feeling better soon. I wish I could explain to him that Life will Not always be this Rough.

Ansley is doinggreat, she is into everything and the Terrible Twos are Most Certainly here now! We have officially broke her from her Paci, and She talks more than ever now that the Pacis Not constantly in her Mouth! She can Repeat about anything You say, so beware what You say around her!!

She Loves for me to read to her one of her Most Favorite Books right now is "The Three Little Pigs"! I almost have it memorized! She Loves to talk about Cows, anytime she sees a cow she will insist that we Look at them and she will start "Moo-ing"! Everytime we pass Steve and Lisa House (They have Cows). She will start Yelling "Cow Cow Mommy Cows.... MOOO ". If we Pass by there at night we just tell her that they have gone to bed so now when we pass by she will sometimes say Night Night Cows... Lisa gave her a picture of some of the cows and Ansley carries that picture around all the time. She will tell me that they are Lisa and Steves Cows.

She really Loves all Animals She loves to feed her fish and she thinks her "doggies" are funny, and our cat Fergie sleeps with her, right next to her every single night.

Well Hopefully I will have time soon to put new pictures on here for everyone to see.

Ansley and Justus both are doing great. Dustin went back to work yesterday. I wondered how today would go without him here to help out and I managed just fine. Although I was a little more tired than normal but I got over it!!

I am very thankful for Dustin, he helped out so much while he was off work. Every morning he made breakfast for us and then lunch! He watched Ansley and took her out to play in the water! He also took her to the grocery store and did our grocery shopping, then took her to buy some fish at the pet store. She is becoming a Big Daddy's Girl.

Justus went to the Doctor yesterday, he is doing great they both have an appointment next week. It will be his 2 week check up and her 18 month check up, unfortunately she will be getting shots so she will not be in a good mood for a few days.

Ansley loves Justus so much, if he cries she gets upset and wants to help him and make him happy, usually when he cries she goes and gets his paci and tries putting it in his mouth to shut him up. When I nurse him she watches closely wondering what I am doing. The first time she saw me do it she pushed me and him trying to make him stop and told me No. So I tried explaining to her what I was doing. So today he was in his bouncer and started crying, I guess she could not find his paci so she went up to him lifting her shirt.... I guess she was going to try to nurse him!!! I thought it was cute, I am not real sure what Dustin thought of it though!!!
