Sanaa is 1 year old!!!

Growth ultrasound
posted on 01/10/2008

We had the growth ultrasound yesterday and guess what? SANAA IS APPROX. 6LBS 15OZ!!! That's just the estimate, meaning she could be well over 8lbs at birth if I go full term! Scary thought...so everyone wish me luck and send some labor vibes so that I go into labor in the next week and a half! But other than that, she's doing just fine. Her heartrate is still great and she's getting stronger by the day (her kicks REALLY hurt)! My hospital bag is halfway packed, but I still need to get a few things. Sanaa has A LOT of stuff, but she's also still missing a few essentials. Mom will be here in 3 days, so shopping here we come!

35 week appointment
posted on 01/03/2008

Yesterday I had my checkup, which was very disappointing. I was told that I would start begin checked this week by the doctor I saw last time, but this appointment, I saw another doctor. She said she doesn't start checking the cervix until AFTER 36 weeks. BOO to her! But I did have the group B strep test done and she said Sanaa is still head down. She said my belly was measuring fine, but I'm still going for the ultrasound next Wednesday. My blood pressure is 120/80, but my book says it is normal for it to go up in the last month.

Mom will be here in 10 days, but the nerves are kicking in. I'm worried that I'll go into labor before she gets here. I'm more nervous than ever about the pain. Me and pain have never been friends, so I'll probably have the worst birth story some of you have ever heard! I'm going to start packing my hospital bag  and wash the rest of Sanaa's stuff this week. Full term is only 2 weeks away and the anxiety is building...

33 week appointment
posted on 12/22/2007

Well, the time approaches and the more days pass, the more anxious and nervous I get. The time may actually be a lot sooner than expected. First off, I lost a pound since my last appointment, but the nurse and doctor weren't worried about it. My blood pressure is still good at 110/70 and Sanaa's heartrate is in the 140's. Still no sign of preeclampsia, so that makes me happy. She's still head down, but the doctor said my belly is measuring bigger than 33cm. She ordered another ultrasound to check how big Sanaa is. Hopefully I'll get my due date pushed up, which I've been hoping for since the beginning. The first ultrasound appointment the hospital had though was the 31st, and I'll be in DC with my dad that day. They were hoping I would have the ultrasound done before my next appointment (Jan 2nd), but it doesn't look like it. So we'll see how everything goes sometime after that.

Other than that, I'm still having trouble with heartburn and backaches. And now insomnia has taken effect. As many of you know, I have ALWAYS been able to sleep through just about anything! I have to be in bed longer just to get 8 hours of sleep. It's killing me, although I don't mind just laying around and being lazy!

Forgot the update from my last appt!
posted on 12/12/2007

I forgot to update everyone on my last appointment! Well, last week was my 31 week checkup and it was quick. My BP was great at 116/64 and Sanaa's heart rate was 144. She's still head down and her butt was sticking up by my ribs with her feet down near her head. I gained another pound (that's 6 so far I think), and everything is fine. Started having the Braxton-Hicks contractions a few weeks ago, but I was told not to worry unless I'm having more than 2-3 per hour.

This week is finals week and I'm dog tired. My mom said it's because of the stress of finals, the fact that I'm carrying around 4+ extra pounds, the weather is making my allergies act up, and I'm gearing up for Sanaa's arrival. I get backaches VERY easily now (at least once a day), this heartburn is killing me, and it takes forever to tie my shoes. I'm SOOO ready to not be pregnant anymore! But I'll live through the next month or so...I hope!

Monkey is a GIRL!!
posted on 11/21/2007

Well, we had the 3D/4D ultrasound today. We were VERY excited to find out if Monkey is a boy or girl. Of course, we were hoping for a boy, but little Sanaa it is! She's so adorable! We saw her stretch, smile and she even yawned twice. She's got chubby cheeks just like I did when I was a baby. We only go 2 decent pictures of her because, like the stubborn baby she is, her face was up against the placenta the entire time. But we got a 2nd appointment (for free) to come back in 2 weeks. Hopefully Sanaa will be nice to the man and let us see her face more clearly next time. The package we got includes a CD-ROM, DVD and more pictures, but the sonographer said he didn't want give us "ok" pictures. We'll get all the stuff and the next appointment! So everyone feel free to buy Sanaa girlie things now! Just not too much pink...I hate excessive pink!

28 week appointment
posted on 11/20/2007

Well, I've just come back from my LAST MONTHLY APPOINTMENT! The doctor said my belly is measuring 29 weeks. My blood pressure is back down to 118/80 and guess what? I gained 4lbs! Yay for me and Monkey! The appointment was pretty uneventful, except this was the first time she measured my belly. The receptionist told me that I can make all of my appointments from now on if I call the main office. How exciting is that? I'll probably just make the next 3 appointments...don't want to get ahead of myself!

Another exciting thing for this week...THE BIG 3D ULTRASOUND IS TOMORROW!!! We (hopefully) will finally know if Monkey is a boy or girl. But like I've been telling everyone, don't get your hopes up too high! We don't want to have anyone be disappointed if Monkey is stubborn again!

Gestational Diabetes
posted on 11/17/2007

Well, I called my doctor's office back yesterday for the results of my 1 hour glucose test (to check for gestational diabetes), and I'm in the clear! My blood sugar 1 hour after drinking an extra sweet glass of juice/flat soda was 87. I have no idea what the normal blood sugar levels (or dangerous levels) are, but the nurse told me that an 87 was very good. Many of you know that diabetes runs in the family (at least on my mom's side), so it's great to hear that even in pregnancy, I don't have a problem with my blood sugar. The thing I have to keep a watch on though is high blood pressure, because I know that that may very well cause me problems in the next 2 months. Just have to keep reminding myself to drink lots of water and to lay off the juice (even though it's 100% juice and not concentrate)!

YAYYY!! Another ultrasound!!
posted on 11/08/2007

Finally...we might be able to find out whether Monkey is a boy or girl! I made a 3D/4D ultrasounf appointment for November 21st. The package we're getting includes a DVD (for the 4D, which is the actual movement of the baby), a CD-Rom with all of the pictures, a few black and white and a few color pictures, as well as a gender determination! They told me to keep VERY hydrated until the appointment because the 3D depends on a lot of amniotic fluid around the baby. So as soon as I get home from the appointment, I'll let everyone know what Monkey is. I'll also hold off on reporting how my doctor's appointment went because it's just the day before.

Love you all!
