JOURNAL 10/28/2007Hey family and friends! Well, the baby shower was yesterday. We sent out over 70 invitations and although about 25 of them went to people we knew wouldn't be able to come, only 7 people showed up. I wasn't upset though because we still had a lot of fun. We played games (including the baby food game, which was extremely funny), talked, and I got some great gifts. Joe got the CUTEST cake ever and I almost cried over it. Monkey got a pack of diapers, a sweater set, 3 onesies with cute little sayings, a digital thermometer, some binkies, bottles, hats and booties and a rattle. Monkey and I also want to thank Grandma Linda for cooking the food, Auntie My for bringing the decorations and Daddy for getting the cake. And if anyone wants to add their predictions to the Baby Lotto (Monkey's birthdate, weight, height, boy/girl), just shoot me and email or call me. Whoever's guess is closest to the actual will receive a prize after Monkey and I return home from the hospital. Comments (1) 24 week appointment posted on 10/16/2007 Well family and friends...my doctor said everything is just perfect! YAAAYYY!! My blood pressure is back down to 110/80 and Monkey's heartrate is 141. I only gained 1lb this month, but my uterus is 1 1/2 to 2 inches above my belly button (which is almost an "outtie") and everything else is great. She gave me the script for the 1 hour glucose test, which I will be taking right before my next appointment. And guess what? November will be my VERY LAST MONTHLY appointment! I'll be going in every 2 weeks after November 20th. Isn't that exciting? Can any of you believe that my 3rd trimester starts next month? It's even harder to believe that this baby could be born healthy as a can be as early as January 9th! Wow, time really does fly... Comments (1) My trip to labor and delivery yesterday posted on 10/10/2007 Well, this baby was being uncooperative YET AGAIN. "Monkey" (new nickname) is usually very active during the day and I could get up to 10 kicks an hour normally. Well, yesterday, I probably felt Monkey kick only 5-7 times in a 15-18 hour period and that scared me. So I called my doctor's office and they told me to just go into L&D since my next appt isn't until next week. So I went and they hooked me up to the monitors and took my BP (which was down to 115/70 and at my last appt it was 140/80). They checked my cervix to make sure it was closed (which no one told me was so painful) and it was. Then they gave me another u/s and the baby started moving again. Of course, we still don't know what Monkey is because the ultrasound machine they had was old a dirt and fuzzy. But Monkey's baseline heart rate was 150 and I wasn't having any contractions, which made me feel og so much better. Since then, the baby has been moving probably about 3-5 times every hour or two. I'm upset because Monkey NEVER wants to do what he/she is supposed to do! Comments (0) 09/19/2007 Hey all. Well I had my 4th doctor's appointment today. And guess what? I GAINED 5LBS! That's the first weight I've gained the entire time! Only 3 more pounds to go until I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight! Yaayyy for me! Baby is measuring just fine and the heartbeat is very strong, however my doctor said that my blood pressure is going up. She said that today, it was 140/80, which is on the high side of normal for pregnancy. She wants me to make sure I'm drinking enough water and eating well. My mom said that I have to drink even more water than I'm drinking now and cut back on the chips and other salty foods (which I LOVE) so that my pressure goes down next month.
I'm so excited that I'm half way through this pregnancy. Although everything has been going very well so far, this is all new to me. I have to watch what I eat and drink, how I sleep, how much I exercise...it's all alot of work! My biweekly appointments will start in December and I'm hoping to get another ultrasound around 32 or 34 weeks. Maybe then, the baby will cooperate and let us see what it is. Comments (1) Stubborn baby! posted on 09/13/2007 Well, of course this baby is stubborn and wouldn't show us the goods so we're still in suspense. My next appointment is next Wednesday, so I'll try to get my doctor to write out another script so that I can get another ultrasound. Please pray that this baby spreads its legs so that I know what it is! Comments (0) I've got an appointment for THE ultrasound! posted on 08/28/2007 Hey everyone! After calling and talking to about 5 people, I finally have an appointment to find out what I'm having! I received a call this morning about a 2nd blood test I'm supposed to have and I asked about the ultrasound. The lady told me that I could make the appointment between 18 and 20 weeks, NOT waiting until 20 weeks like I thought. So I called the ultrasound place at the hospital and got an appointment for September 12th at 5pm! How exciting is that?!? I'll be sure to update as soon as I get home that day...still hoping for that boy! Comments (0) My predictions posted on 08/25/2007 Well, I have thoughts and feelings about this child, and I thought I would share them. I would like a boy first, but I have a feeling that I'm having a girl. I predict that I will go into labor in late January (between the 23rd and 30th) and the labor will last about 12 hours. As you all may know, my sister and I were BIG babies, and my niece was no small cookie. So, I predict that my child will be between 7lbs 8oz and 8lbs 5oz. I think this child will be about 20 inches long.
Maybe having positive thoughts will allow for these things to occur! I will keep everyone updated as time goes on. Comments (0) 3rd doctor's appointment posted on 08/24/2007 I had my 3rd (16 week) doctor's appointment today. I still have not gained any weight (I have lost 8lbs so far), but the nurse told me that it was ok for now. I was given the hospitals pre-admission packet to mail in by my next appointment. The nurse also told me that my registration forms for the classes (breastfeeding and childbirth) need to be in by my next appointment. My blood pressure was 120/70 and the baby's heartbeat was in the low 140's. I asked her when she will begin to check the fundal height, and she said beginning next month. She gave me the referal for my 20 week ultrasound to find out the baby's gender, and another to get the rest of the necessary blood work done. My next doctor's appointment is September 19th and I'll be exactly 20 weeks. Comments (1) |
