Our Second Doctor's Appointment posted on 12/18/2007
Today was our second ob/gyn doctor's appointment, with Dr. Gierut, the doctor that had been recommended. Dr. Gierut was so nice, answered all of our questions, patient and energetic. She made us feel special. Dr. Gierut will be our doctor until we deliver. If she is on-call the day we deliver, she will deliver the baby. Otherwise, it will be another doctor. We heard the heartbeat and it sounds good! The doctor said the baby is healthy. We made the next appointments for

Christmas Lights w/ Nicole & Jesus posted on 12/16/2007
Nicole & Jesus came over to our house to drive around Ladera Ranch to see Christmas lights. We chatted for about an hour over white chocolate cocoa and rum cake. We were explaining our new office-to-be, downstairs where the living room used to be. I figured this would be a good time to tell them why we were building a new office. I told them I was pregnant. Nicole thought she knew something was up because again, I was not drinking at their house for dinner back in November. We drove around looking at lights for about 2 hours. It was fun and got me in the Christmas spirit.

Italian Dinner at Fizet's posted on 12/14/2007
Carey & Jason held an Italian dinner at their house for friends and previous co-workers of Jason's. Doug Koegeboehn came up to me to ask a question, but I interrupted with "yes I am pregnant." I knew what he was going to ask because that week, I ran in to an old boss of mine who still works with Doug, at the Salt Lake City airport. We went to the bar before our flight was to take off. I ordered a water and she knew right away!

Adville Holiday Party posted on 12/13/2007
This year, the agency holiday party included significant others. Vicki was so kind to arrange cars to pick up people. Dinner started at 6pm, so I thought the car could pick Eric and I up at 4:15pm in Orange County. Sitting, waiting, watching out the window the car finally showed up at 5:30pm. I coined the experience as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride because not only were we picked up in an Audi A4, one hour late with very little room in the back seats, but we got lost! The driver didn't have directions to our destination, Twin Palms. We were so lucky to hear about this young man's acting and producing talents the entire 3 hours! Yes, it took 2 hours and 45 minutes to finally arrive at our dinner destination. Of course by then, everyone else had plenty to drink and had already eaten appetizers. Upon our arrival, a round of shots were ordered for the employees. As everyone cheered the shot glasses, I shouted "I can't drink this because I'm pregnant!" Some people were shocked, while others could now confirm their instincts. A few people at the agency asked me before hand if I was pregnant. As I had to deny I was pregnant since I had not told all family members.

Katie's Baby Shower posted on 12/08/2007
Today's is Katie's baby shower. I was throwing the shower with the help of Carey, Ali and Robin. Carey and I carpooled over to Robin's house. Along the way, I told Carey "I am pregnant." But before I even got out the news she knew! She noticed the night before at the Italian dinner, I was not drinking -- a dead give away! I wanted to wait to tell friends and family mainly because I wanted Katie's baby shower to be about her, not me! The shower was perfect, very comforting and stress free. And best of all, Katie enjoyed the day! As we started to clean up, Ali made the comment about keeping some of the decorations for the next baby shower. I thought this would be the perfect moment to share my news. I said, "yes, you can keep the decorations for me since I am pregnant!" Everyone was ecstatic and hugged me.

Friends & Family Italian Dinner posted on 12/07/2007
The second annual "Friends & Family Italian Dinner" was being held at Susan Heilig's house. Shane & Katie drove from Arizona for the dinner. They showed up at our house prior to the dinner, as well my parents, so I decided to break the news to Shane and Katie. However, we didn't plan on telling everyone at the dinner the news since Katie's shower was the next day. I was able to get through the night without too many comments and/or stares since I wasn't drinking. My mom however, wanted to tell everyone so badly. In fact, she almost stood up during dessert to make the announcement.

Lunch w/ Joelle posted on 12/06/2007
I scheduled lunch with Joelle (one of my longtime roommates/friend from Santa Barbara) in Pasadena at Wahoo's. It was unusual because I typically eat lunch at my desk (office). This was my "first announcement" of the pregnancy so I wasn't sure how to say it. Lunch was almost over and I just blurted it out, "I'm pregnant." Ironically Joelle had a Pregnancy & Newborn magazine in her purse and was so kind to give it to me. Joelle told me about all the cool gadgets and gizmos for the baby, a Bugaboo stroller, a trendy car seat, store called Right Start, etc. Great tips!

Telling Eric's Family posted on 11/22/2007
It was time to spill the beans to Eric’s family so we waited until Thanksgiving to let everybody know that we’re pregnant. Britt and I stayed home for the holidays so we created a PowerPoint slide show with voice over media files to let them know we are expecting an addition to the family. We e-mailed the card to Eric‘s mom where she, Bob, Jason, Cheryl, Ty, Alyssa and Sandrine all opened it together. After the family celebration it was time to spread the news to the other half of the family. Britt and I went to Tracy and Brad’s house (Eric’s sister’s) for a Turkey dinner and I plugged in my iPod to the TV to show the family our European vacation pictures. Before we started the slide show I told the kids (Rachel, Owen and Caroline) that Britt and I created a Thanksgiving card for them that was on the iPod. With that the whole family including my Dad and Carol hovered around the TV and I started the PowerPoint show. Once the show started everybody flipped out in excitement. The Family is getting bigger and Carol is going to have to embroider another family members name on my Grandma La Points sweatshirt which will bring the total to 91 names. Note: You can view the slide show in the photo section under Turkey Card, although the sound attachments couldn’t be included.
