Dinner at Nicole's
posted on 11/17/2007

Nicole & Jesus invited us over for dinner at their house along with Sasha, Devin and her husband Steve.  Upon arrival at Nicole & Jesus' house, I was asked if I wanted a glass of wine.  I said "no, I had too many martinis with my parents the night before."  I thought that was a legit excuse.  After all, my friends know that I like to drink & party.  Then, Devin said she had an announcement...she is pregnant!  Devin is due 1 week before me, June 10.  I was so close to saying "me too," but Eric and I decided to wait to announce the news in December.  We got through the night without anymore questions and/or strange looks.

Telling Britt's Parents
posted on 11/16/2007

Eric and I invited my parents (Sharon & Dennis) to dinner at Infusion, in Ladera Ranch.  We wanted to disguise the dinner by asking them out as a thank you for our Europe trip.  We truly are thankful for the trip, but we also had some news for them! Eric was very nervous!  Wow, I've never seen him so nervous.  He wanted to "practice our speech" over and over of how we would tell my parents.  I bought a Grandparents Brag Book and we placed pictures of Eric and I holding the pregnancy tests with the title "WE'RE PREGNANT!"  The book was going to be presented to my mom as a "oh I found this book that you could use to put Shane and Katie’s baby pictures in."  (SIDE NOTE: Shane, my brother, and Katie are pregnant as well.  Katie is due March 2, 2008.) So, we're all at dinner ordering alcoholic beverages, of course and I passed saying I wasn't sure what I wanted.  We started chit-chatting and then the "speech" came into play...the baby brag book was given to my mom and Eric and I kept on chatting.  My mom slowly opened the book expecting to see pregnant photos of Katie in Europe but she slowly put two-and-two together and ...yes, we are pregnant.  She passed the book to my dad and they both are overjoyed...their little girl is pregnant!

First ob/gyn visit
posted on 11/12/2007

We had our first ob/gyn doctor visit, in Santa Ana/Tustin.  The (woman) doctor was very nice.  She answered our questions, referred a ob/gyn doctor closer to us (in San Juan Capistrano), and even took a picture of the baby.  We are 8 weeks and 6 days old now!

We are officially pregnant!
posted on 10/31/2007

We had a doctor's appointment today with the nurse.  I took a pregnancy test and it came back POSITIVE.  We are officially pregnant!  We think we conceived the week of our 4-year anniversary...isn't that nice?!  That would be around September 20-27.  Happy Anniversary Honey!

The day we found out!
posted on 10/13/2007

I was about 4 days late, so we decided to try a home pregnancy test.  Eric drove to the drugstore to pick up the tests.  I went through 2 "manual" home pregnancy tests before Eric driving back to the drugstore again to get the digital reading!  The manual test is a bit difficult, or we were just in the denial stage.  This test shows a positive or negative sign.  However, the digital test is clear-cut..you're either "Pregnant" or not.  Well, our test clearly said "Pregnant."  I was shocked at first, mainly because less than 24 hours we were leaving for our 2-week European vacation and about to attend a friend's wedding, Phil & Lisha Baer.

We did not have the time to get the official news from a doctor prior to our Europe trip so we kept it a secret the entire 2 weeks!  Boy was that difficult.  As a matter of fact, because I was not eating, my dad was really scared for me and wanted to take me to an Italian doctor.  I declined and made up some story that I felt like this before when I studied in Spain during my college years.  I was so nauseous and didn't want to eat that I lost 5 pounds while in Europe.

Although the trip to Europe was amazing, I was not able to enjoy the wine, espresso, food, etc.  The pictures show my expressions!  We will one day have to go back with Baby Clark.
