JOURNAL

Beginning of the 3rd Month
posted on 07/24/2006

Today officially marks the start of the 3rd month of pregnancy! I thought I'd update on a few things I've been experiencing so far....

Early last week (8 weeks) is when I started to experience some of the typical symptoms of being pregnant. I am extremely tired lately. I wear out really fast and a lot of the time I feel totally useless around the house. This weekend I was able to take out the Endust and a dust-rag but that's about as far as I got....I never made it around to actually dusting! It amazes me with how tired I get. I also have been known to go to bed around 6pm lately as well.....again, totally useless! :) My body must be working extra hard for the baby because I have absolutely no energy left when I get home. I haven't even been walking at night in about a week because all I want to do is sleep.

I also started getting a bit nauseous last week. It always happens in the afternoon time. Luckily it's only been a handful of times and hasn't been too terribly bad. I find that if I keep crackers at my desk and make sure to nibble on a few every hour, then I'm less likely to get that sick feeling. So as long as I stay full and don't get hungry, then I'm "safe" from sickness. I feel like people are going to think all I ever do is eat because I have fruit, oatmeal, crackers and peanut butter in my desk drawer :) I haven't really gained any weight, which is good, but I am "thicker" around my waist and my pants aren't quite as comfortable as they once were. My guess is that this is just going to continue to get worse....But that's all part of the experience and as long as I'm not sick, I'm not going to complain! :)

All in all, the symptoms haven't been that unbearable (except for one day I thought I was going to die - but my mom came over and took care of me!). The worst part is feeling nauseous, but it usually passes if I just close my eyes and breath real deep for a few minutes. The crackers have been a savior though for sure!! I guess this is what I get for complaining a couple weeks ago about having no symptoms of being pregnant though :) Now I sure do!! Tim and I have been busy reading up on all of our books and excited to see the weekly progression. We use www.babycenter.com a lot to find out more information about what the baby is doing this week.

That seems to be all the new news for now! We'll keep updating as things change :)

It's Official - Again!
posted on 07/19/2006

Well, it's official - again!!!

We had our 1st visit to the doctor yesterday! So it's been confirmed (again) that yes, we are pregnant! The due date she gave us was March 6, 2007 - so we were one day off on our calculations. :)

She talked with us about any symptoms I was having and answered any questions we had. She prescribed prenatal vitamins and a pill for nausea - just in case! She also gave us a "goodie-bag" filled with various reading materials, sample vitamins, magazines, pamphlets, etc.

At our next appointment we'll get to hear our baby's heartbeat so we're really excited about that! We go back to see her again on August 17th.

We'll be changing the poll soon since most everyone seems to have cast their vote on whether Baby D will be a boy or girl, so make sure to vote once the new poll is posted!! :)

In The Beginning...
posted on 07/12/2006

Tim and I started suspected something was going on towards the end of Moyer Madness 2006 when I was a few days "late". The few days soon turned into several. Tests confirmed what we were thinking!! As did many other consecutive tests (and money) that I needed to do in order to feel sure this was "real".

Of course, what ensued from here was the buying of many books, journals and calendars so that we can document every second - because that's what we always do. Haha!

It almost doesn't seem real at this point because there are no obvious or visible signs. But we are very excited and feel very blessed! We're looking forward to all the experiences and all the new things that we'll be learning in the weeks and months that lay ahead. And we're so excited to be able to share all of it with our family and friends!

We're taking a poll on whether Baby Daugherty will be a boy or a girl, so please cast your vote!! We won't know the gender until around October, but we'd love to know what everyone thinks!

Also, please feel free to sign our Guestbook and share your thoughts and advice! We'll be needing it!!

Love,
Steph & Tim
