She's Crawling!! posted on 10/22/2007
Well tonight Karys finally graduated to crawling officially! She was moving across the floor and we were just cheering her on. She was going after the phone - what else?! She is obsessed with the home phone - any time it rings or is on speakerphone - she just wants it. Tim got video the best video on our video camera and I took the video on my digital camera after she was a bit worn out. So bear with us - we promise to put up better videos as she perfects her crawl, but this first one is just a clip of what she can do. We're so excited for her!! Now we really have to get moving on baby-proofing the house! Poor Brinks has no idea what lies ahead for him this week! We're so proud of our little girl! We love her so much!! She's had a busy past few weeks - sippy cups, straws, patty-cake, waving bye-bye, pulling up and now crawling! Keep checking for more updates!

She Can Do What?! posted on 10/21/2007
Today we put Karys down for a nap and a little while later we heard her on the monitor. Tim went up there assuming she needed something. Upon walking in her room, he found that she had pulled herself up on the crib - she is standing there looking at him & smiling. She had also thrown her pacifier on the floor. Thankfully we had already lowered the crib last weekend so there was no way she could fall out. She has been trying to pull herself up on the couch but had not yet been successful. I guess she figured she'd try with her crib and sure enough - she can stand up!! We took a video of her doing it.
Now we don't know what to think! She isn't even crawling yet but can pull herself up?! She such a silly girl! Some people have told us that she may walk before crawling. I have a hard time believing this but this child never ceases to amaze us so we shall see! Stay tuned for a video soon!

So Many New Things! posted on 10/20/2007
I thought I would take a minute to update everyone on some of Karys' more recent "accomplishments". In the past few weeks, she has learned so many new things! Her favorite game to play is Patty-Cake and if you start singing it, she starts clapping her hands together and this is typically accompanied by a huge grin! When we get to the "roll it" part of the song, her hands go crazy trying to roll it! It's so cute!! We took some video of her playing Patty-Cake last night and hopefully I will be able to upload it soon.
In addition to her clapping and playing Patty-Cake, she also has learned how to wave bye-bye. It's really cute and her arm is so floppy when she does it. She waves bye-bye every day to her friend Addison and to Miss Yvonne when we pick her up. She also gives kisses - but right now just to Addison when they say goodbye.
She's also learned how to use a sippy cup and drinks very well from it. We bought her one with a straw in it so that will be the next task :) She's such a fast learner though so I'm sure she'll catch on quick.
On the crawling front, she is scooting a lot on her hands and knees now and actually moving both her hands and knees. Tim wants to count this as officially crawling but I'm not convinced just yet that it's not just an advanced form of scooting. It seems every time we put her on her stomach, she goes straight into a sitting position! The only thing that can really lure her into moving towards something is the telephone! She is amazed by it so we talk to her on it via speakerphone and the look of determination on her face is so hilarious! She really wants that phone! Definitely a little girl! Hehe!
We also take her back to the doctor on December 4th (Tim's Birthday!) for her 9 month check-up. Not shots this time but I think they may do a finger prick to draw blood....uh oh!
We hope everyone has a great weekend!!

1st Football Game posted on 10/15/2007
Karys went to her very 1st football game Friday night. It was Katy High School's Homecoming game and she was totally loving all the sparkly mums! She couldn't stop looking around at everything, nor could she stop reaching for all the mums and garters of all the student's around us! Thankfully she wasn't able to grab anyone's :) She seemed to really enjoy herself though. She liked watching Aunt Ashley perform with the drill team and all the sparkly costumes of the other team as well. She was all dressed up to support Katy in her red & white and even wore Uncle Joe's old number (44) on the shirt we had made for her. Too cute!
Yesterday was a hard day as far as teething goes. Those top teeth still have not broken through yet and her hands were constantly in her mouth and she was crying so hard. We gave her motrin and orajel but she was still upset. Hopefully they break through soon and relieve her of some of this pain :( On another note, she made some major progress on the crawling front this weekend. Last night she was up on her hands and knees and besides just rocking, she was moving her knees forward! She'd get upset that she wasn't really moving and then purposely fall down and cry in frustration but then she would try again. Tim is convinced that she will be crawling by Wednesday. I'm going to predict it will be by next Sunday - one week. But it's very exciting to see! Looks like we're going to have to do some serious baby-proofing this week! She is just growing up so fast... We'll keep everyone posted!!

Teething Troubles posted on 10/10/2007
A year ago today was when we found out we were having a BABY GIRL! And now that precious little girl is 7 months old! Not to mention the most precious thing we could have ever hoped for.
The past couple nights have been a little difficult with Karys teething. She had been waking up fussing and then would fuss herself back to sleep but last night she seemed to be in a lot of pain. She woke up around 2:30am and we gave her some medicine and then I rocked her back to sleep because she was so upset. Hopefully those top teeth break through soon because we hate seeing her in pain. These top teeth seem to be giving her a much harder time than the bottom teeth did. We didn't even know she was teething with the bottom teeth!
The past weekend Karys decided she was going to become a more active "roller". That's all she seems to want to do. Before she could do it but never really seemed to care to move. Now it's like a whole new thing to her and she's everywhere. She's scooting, rolling, rocking....and it just literally has Tim and I laughing at how determined she is. She seems to be on a mission! I think she is still a ways off from crawling but she's certainly learned how to maneuver around and can't really be contained anymore. She'd rather be on the floor rolling around now than in her exersaucer and that's never been the case before now! She also had her 2nd follow-up flu shot this past Friday. She was a champ! And thankfully, this time she did not get sick with it like she did last month. We were both a little worried about that! She weighed 19 pounds at the doctor that day. And she won't go back again until her 9 month checkup at the beginning of December. I took a few pictures of her in an adorable pumpkin costume Granny bought her and posted them. She is such a cutie! We'll be bringing her to the pumpkin patch in the next few weekends so we'll make sure to take lots of pictures!

She Said MaMa!! posted on 10/03/2007
Karys finally said MaMa last night! She had been starting to really make her "B" sounds ("Buh Buh") the past few days. I kept repeating MaMa to her over and over (like I have for weeks now) and last night Tim looked at her and said MaMa and she looked back at him and repeated it!! It was classic - she says DaDa to me first and MaMa to him first. :) She said it a few times and then went back to her favorite word, DaDa. But she still said it! Hopefully I can get more of her talking on video soon so everyone can hear all of her new sounds/words. But I'm so thrilled that she finally said MaMa! It was so adorable to hear. She just makes our hearts melt. She's such a sweetheart and her little voice is just precious.

7 Months Old! posted on 10/01/2007
Karys is 7 months old today! We cannot believe how quickly she is growing either. In the past week, she is looking even longer than before! We are going to try to weigh her and see how tall she is tonight to keep the stats for her baby book so we'll report back once we find out what they are! Her two bottom teeth are definitely there and if we stick our fingers in her mouth, we can certainly feel them when she bites us! :) Last night Karys made a new friend - Haylee! Haylee is 9 months old - just two months older than Karys. And Karys looks like she is way older than Haylee with how long she is! They were really cute and sweet together. Karys has a fascination with other babies and started grunting and making this weird noise when she first saw Haylee because she wanted to play. And of course, she talked all night! She's a big talker...it's constant! People actually ask us if she does this all the time. The answer is yes, she really does do it all the time. We have a chatterbox on our hands :) The new sound this week is the "F" sound. She gets her mouth in this funny shape to make it. It cracks us up. It's just not that funny when she does it if you are trying to feed her! :) Halloween is coming up soon (hence the new background today) and Karys is all set to be a little Ladybug! The costume is just precious and we can't wait to dress her up in it. What a cutie! And Karys is planning to enter a pumpkin in the annual Moyer Family Pumpkin Contest so stay tuned for some cute pictures later this month!

The First Tooth posted on 09/27/2007
Well it turns out that what my mom and I thought we felt Sunday night was indeed Karys' first tooth! She now has her 2 bottom teeth breaking through her gums!! She wasn't being fussy or anything this week so we wouldn't have even known she was teething except for the increased amount of time she has spent chewing on her thumb! Tim noticed it last night when he was feeding her dinner. She opened her mouth for a bite of food when he noticed them down there! My sister was there and was able to take pictures with her camera since I currently have mine in Colorado with me. I will make sure to upload them as soon as I am able to! We will miss that gummy little smile of hers but she is extra cute with teeth too!
I am still in Colorado for work and am due to be back in Houston tomorrow night. I could not be more excited about seeing my two babies! I miss them so much! And I can't wait to get a better look at Karys' new baby teeth for myself!
