First Shots... posted on 05/04/2007
Yesterday we took Karys to the doctor for her 2 month checkup and her first set of shots. She is weighing 12 lb 2 oz now and is 23.5" long!! The doctor said she is in the 90% percentile for both her weight and her length! Most people who see her comment on how long she is already - she gets that from her Daddy! :) Then it came time for her shots. She got one shot in one leg and two shots in the other. But first she got an oral medicine and started sucking the medicine from the dropper - the nurse said that Karys was only 1 of 3 babies that she'd ever seen do that! We thought that was funny - our little girl loves to eat :) The nurse was so fast with her shots that it took Karys a second or so to respond and then she started crying. The nurse was wonderful though and had it done so quickly and then we were able to pick her up and calm her down. She did so great! We gave her Tylenol afterwards every 4 hours for the rest of the day. As far as I know, she never had a fever and was not any more fussy or anything the rest of the day. She ate really well and slept all night too. She seems to be doing just fine - she's our little trooper! :) Everything is great and she goes back again in July for her second set of shots. Other than that, our baby girl turned 9 weeks old yesterday...and we are happy to say she is sleeping 8 1/2 to 9 hours a night now! The longest she has gone is 11 hours!! She continues to get stronger and do new things on a daily basis! She's just a joy to be around :) Our pool is now warm enough to swim in so we are going to take her swimming for the first time this weekend too. We'll take plenty of pictures to post! We hope everyone has a great weekend! Love, Tim, Stephanie & Karys

8 Weeks & New Discoveries! posted on 04/27/2007
Karys was 8 weeks old yesterday and she just continues to get cuter with each passing day! She has started to really "coo" back at us this week. She will stare at us when we talk to her and make her noises back. It's just the cutest thing!! She smiles all the time now and we can usually get her to smile if she isn't too upset :) Her personality is definitely starting to appear though! She certainly knows what she wants and when she wants it! She will get upset if we go to burp her sometimes because she wants to continue to eat :) She hates to be layed down on her back - she only wants to sit up to look around. She has these little high-pitched squeals she gives instead of cries a lot of the time too if we upset her in some way. Most of the time I can't help but laugh because of how upset she gets at some things - mainly her food! Yesterday she was weighing in at 11 lb 13 oz!! Last week we had our first night where she slept a full 8 hours! It was wonderful and Tim and I were very pleased! She doesn't do that every night just yet but the fact that she is starting gives us hope! It was like seeing a light at the end of the tunnel :) This past week she has seemed more involved with her hands too than before. They are always moving around still, but now they tend to find their way to her mouth a lot! Slowly we're seeing her start to have a bit more control over her movements. And the girl does not ever stay still - she wiggles and squirms around all the time! I do not remember her being this active when she was in my tummy - thank goodness! :) Yesterday was by far one of the best days I've spent with her! After her morning bottle we went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was so pretty outside that when we got back, we sat outside for an hour or so (her in the shade and me in the sun!). We had a little conversation - I talked and she was "cooing" back at me and then she was content on just looking around while I read a book. It was just really nice and relaxing and she was in such a great mood! Tim is out of town for 4 days starting tomorrow so I'll be plenty busy with her all by myself! And I'm sure I'll be exhausted by the time he gets back on Tuesday! And then next week she has her 2nd month checkup and her first set of shots...poor baby!
We hope everyone has a great weekend! Love, Tim, Steph & Karys

7 Weeks Old posted on 04/18/2007
It's been a couple of weeks since I've given an update. Tomorrow Karys will be 7 weeks old!! Wow! She's getting so big and smiling at us all the time. She is constantly changing and her lashes are getting so long now! She is just more beautiful every day. She notices more and more things going on around her and follows movement from across the room now. We still get so thrilled just watching her with all the expressions and sounds she makes. And that smile of hers just gets us every time :) We've all been doing really well and have had a very busy couple of weeks! Last weekend was her first Easter and we spent it with both mine and Tim's family. We had a really nice day and Karys was in a great mood - even with all the moving and driving around we did! And then Tim's dad and stepmom were in town this past weekend and so Karys got to meet her other grandparents for the first time. We all had a really nice time and are now just relaxing after all the excitement! Karys had a checkup at the doctor today because she had been spitting up a lot more the past few days - due to a formula change. The doctor wanted to see her and check her out to make sure she didn't have baby reflux and that it was indeed just the formula. Everything is great - we'll just be adding a teaspoon of rice cereal to more of her bottles during the day for a few days to help her tummy get back to normal. She weighed 11 lbs 5 oz today!! She is eating very well and continues to gain steadily! Other than that, Tim and I continue to just enjoy our daughter every day. He is so wonderful with her and plays with her and feeds her when he gets home from work. I have a feeling she will be able to get whatever she wants from her Daddy since he is already seemingly wrapped around her tiny finger! :) We'll update more later! Love, Tim, Steph & Baby Karys

She's Certainly Growing!! posted on 04/04/2007
Today was Karys' 1 month checkup. She certainly eats well - she now weighs 10 lbs 6 oz and is 22.5 inches long! They said she is in the 74th percentile for her weight and in the 86th percentile for length! The doctor said we can now stop waking her up at night for feedings since she is gaining weight so well on her own and that we should put a little rice cereal in her last bottle at night to help her sleep all night. So tonight we'll begin that and see how it works. Last night she slept over 6 hours so that was nice too! I think it's safe to say that the midnight feeding is cut out now :) The doctor also told us to give Karys about 5-10 minutes of "tummy time" each day - which seems to be about all she will put up with anyway. She isn't too fond of it just yet :) But it is so cute to watch her! Karys also met our friends daughter, Isabelle, today too. They were both really cute, but didn't have too much interaction since they are both so young. Izzy is 5 1/2 months old. I'll post a picture of the two of them together soon :) Karys will be 5 weeks old tomorrow and she continues to get bigger and stronger every day - you can almost see her growing! Her neck muscles are stronger too - she holds her head up a lot better than she used too. We go to the doctor again next month when she is 2 months old and that is when she will start her vaccinations.
We have also been walking around the neighborhood to get her outside and to get me some exercise :) Everything is going really well right now and she is just still so sweet and amazing. We are totally in love with her! Happy Easter!! Love, Tim, Stephanie & Karys

Already 4 Weeks!! posted on 03/28/2007
Karys will be 4 weeks old tomorrow! We just can't believe it! Sometimes it seems that time has gone by so fast, but then we also find it hard to imagine what we ever did without her! She continues to grow and amuse us in new ways every day :) She's continuing to eat very well and sleep good too! Her attention span is becoming longer as she continues to focus on objects within her view. She loves to just look around and each day seems to spend more time doing so. After her daytime feedings, she remains awake for longer periods before she naps than she used to. Most of the time she is content in her swing or her bouncer just looking around and taking everything in. She had her first "tummy time" session last night (yes, I posted pictures already). The books and doctors say to do this to strengthen her neck muscles. She seemed to enjoy it for a little while - though she did appear a little confused at first since she'd never been in that position before :) After a little while, she seemed to get a bit frustrated and turned her head over several times. You'd think something huge just happened at the way I was squealing with delight and rushing for the camera :) I'm just still amazed at everything she does I guess :) Tomorrow I have my postpartum checkup. Hopefully my doctor will clear me to exercise to work off some of this excess weight and I'm also very anxious to be put back on the pill!! Haha! :) I'm feeling great though and am anxious to be doing a little more activity. And then next Wednesday Karys goes back to the doctor for her 1 month checkup!! What a fun weekend we will have this weekend though! Karys' cousin, Zoe, is coming to visit so the two of them will finally get to meet!! Zoe is about 2 weeks older than Karys so if nothing else, it will make for some really cute pictures! :) And tomorrow, Karys is going to get a new cousin - Presley Nicole Moyer! We are very excited to have all three of these girls so close in age and wish Wes & Stacey the best of luck tomorrow! We hope everyone has a great weekend!!
Love, Tim, Steph & Karys

3 Weeks Update posted on 03/21/2007
Our baby girl will be 3 weeks old tomorrow!! I cannot believe how fast time flies or how much she changes week to week! The biggest change this week was that Karys lost her umbilical cord and was finally able to have real bath - which she loved! It was so cute!! She was so happy and content in the warm water that Tim and I could not stop laughing at all the little faces she was making :) This past weekend Karys was quite the little traveler too! On Saturday afternoon we went to Granny Tam & Grandpa Steve's for a BBQ and the A&M game and she got to hang out with family and even met some new people. And that playyard Granny Tam bought so long ago was finally able to be put to use! :) Then on Sunday she went to Poppy & Nana's house for a little while so Mommy & Daddy could run to Target for some baby items and grab some lunch! Aunt Rachel was more than happy to agree to watch her for a little bit :) And Aunt Ashley brought back the cutest onesies for her!! She'll wear them this week and we'll make sure to post pictures :) Then on Sunday evening we went to her Great Nana's house to show her how big she's gotten! What a busy weekend our little one had! :) But she did great and her schedule was not messed up at all! Karys is really starting to look around more and focus on things that are within her view. It's so cute to watch her as she takes in the things around her. You can almost see her learning and it's just amazing to watch her. She loves to lay in her playyard and look at her aquarium after her morning feedings and the bouncer is one of her favorite places to be to look around! She's changing so fast and we fall more in love with her each day. She's such a sweet little girl :) She's also starting to eat a little more (between 4-5 oz) and sleep a little longer too (sometimes 5 hours at a time!). Tim and I are just so proud of her!! She just couldn't be any more perfect :) And we'll make sure to keep posting new pictures! Love, Steph, Tim & Karys :)

Two Weeks!! posted on 03/16/2007
Karys was 2 weeks old yesterday! She's had a lot of changes this past week too. She has started to hold her head up more and she no longer curls up her body like she did when we brought her home - she loves to stretch out now. She seems to change or do something new each day - it's really amazing to watch! We are having so much fun with her! My mom also took off Mon - Wed this week to come help out and that was such a blessing! It was really great to spend the whole day with her and I'm so grateful for her help! She let me sleep in each day and I finally feel more rested than I have in a long time. And I know Karys loved being held all day long by her Nana!! She is already being so spoiled :) Today Tim and I took Karys for her 2nd week checkup. She now weighs in at 8 lbs 8 oz!! The doctor was very impressed with her weight gain and how well she eats. She told us we were lucky to have a child that is already sleeping so much through the night like we do too - she said that doesn't happen too often and that we have it easier than a lot of other parents do. We're so proud :) Karys is eating 4 oz every 4 hours and only wakes up twice during the night - allowing Tim and I each to get between 6-7 hours of sleep when we take turns feeding her. So far so good!! Karys also is measuring at 21 nches now. The doctor's office said most likely she was measured wrong at birth (they told us she was 19 inches). A typical growth can be about 1 inch but not 2 inches. So she seems to be growing and gaining weight at a great rate! And the best news is that her collar bone is all healed!!! We no longer have to keep it pinned up anymore. That was really good to hear. And now she has two hands to play with :) We see the doctor again in 2 weeks for her 1 month checkup. We hope everyone has a great weekend!! Love, Tim, Steph & Karys :)

One Week Old!! posted on 03/08/2007
Today our little Karys is one week old! This week seems to have flown by so quickly too. I feel like we've learned so much about her in only a week!! So far she is doing great! She is eating between 3-4 oz during her feedings and is on a really good schedule of eating every 3 hours during the day and she'll sleep 4-5 hours at night!! So Mommy & Daddy can get a good amount of sleep still while taking turns feeding their little one! :) Today we can also start exercising her arm a little more instead of keeping it bound up all the time too. And then the doctor will look at it again when we go for her 2nd week checkup next Friday. She doesn't seem like she is in any pain though so that eases my mind a lot too! She'll be all better soon! :) Today was Daddy's first day back to work and Granny Tam came over to help out and gave Karys two of her feedings and played with her while Mommy took a bath and relaxed a little. That seemed to work very well for all of us :) I'm feeling really good now too. I feel about 95% recovered from everything and I'm so glad for that!! I feel like I can move around a lot better without feeling any pain. Can't complain about that! It just allows me to be able to focus more on my precious little girl :) All in all, this first week went extremely well. Tim and I seem to learn something new every day and we're just loving every single minute of it! And I feel so much closer to him now too...everything is just so perfect right now! Obviously - I'm gushing! :) :) I hope everyone has a great weekend and I promise to keep posting pictures as often as I can! Love, Steph, Tim & Karys
