Saturday Kev and I spontaneously descided to drive to the zoo. We called Caryn and Justin to see if they and the kids wanted to go with us. It was fun. Claire was too little to enjoy it. She was happy if she had some goldfish snacks and her drink. Maybe next year she will like it more.

Our fun weekend posted on 03/12/2008
We had a fun weekend. Our little family drove to Houston for Claire's Aunt Kim and Uncle Adam's wedding. We stayed in a hotel Friday night. Claire liked it. It was her first time to stay in a hotel. We walked in and she made herself right at home watching cartoons and chilling on the bed. She looked so tiny on that huge king size bed. Saturday we woke up early and went to the wedding. It was beautiful. There are pics in the gallery. Claire walked around the temple and would stop every now and then to smell the pretty flowers. It was a great day until all the fun started.
While driving home from Houston something fell off an 18 wheeler and Adam and Kim ran over it, slicing the two passenger tires. Poor Adam had to change tires in his suit. If that wasn't bad enough my mother-in-law was in Beaumont and got side swiped. Everyone walked away without a scratch, and all the vehicles are drive-able. Anyway, so all that got us an hour or so behind in getting the reception ready. We all came together though and the reception turned out beautiful.
That wasn't the end of our busy weekend either. So after we drove to Houston for the wedding and drove back to Port Neches for the reception, Kev and I had to drive back to Houston Sunday night to spend another night in Houston. I had to bring Kev to the airport EARLY Monday morning so that he could fly to Dallas on a business trip. His trip went good, and I picked him up in Beaumont last night at about 10:30pm.
Today is Kev's birthday. He's 25! When you get older though birthdays are not as important. He's kinda like, yeah whatever. He's just worried about finding a permanent job. Graduation is only 8 weeks away. We are hoping the paper mill will hire him though. We'll see I guess. He's already interviewed with a few companies. My family and I went in together and got Kev a new bowling ball and bag. I'm excited for him to get those. I just hope he likes them.

Stomach Virus...Ugh! posted on 03/03/2008
Claire has been sick since Thursday with EXPLOSIVE diarrhea and throwing up. Not fun... So then Saturday I get it to. Claire's doing better today. I was feeling perfectly fine yesterday, but today I relapsed. It's hard to take care of a demanding 18 month old when you're running to the bathroom every two minutes...literally! I should feel better tomorrow though. I hope!!

Claire's New Bed posted on 02/27/2008
We bought Claire a new Disney Princess toddler bed yesterday. Her crib that was suppose to convert to a toddler bed doesn't convert very safely. Kev and I decided we would get her a new one instead of rigging her crib. She loves the bed. It came with a canopy for the bed, a little wooden bench with boxes underneath, and a toy box. It's so precious! She can get out of this bed now. This morning at about 3AM she came in our room. That was a little scary. I'm sure that won't be the last time she does it though. We went yesterday to visit Claire's best friend, Kenna, who is in the hospital with pneumonia. She had been saying Kenna's name the entire day before. She was thinking about her I guess.

Claire's favorite thing to do is color. She looks so serious when she is sitting there. Maybe she'll be artistic, not like her Mom. She's so cute! She's getting so big. She'll repeat anything you say now. She talks A LOT! When she wants a snack she'll come up to you and grab your finger and say "walk". It's the cutest thing. Then she will lead you to the snack cabinet, which she's know where it was for a long time. She's very observant. You have to make sure she's not watching when you put something away or she'll know where to go to get it! We went to Claire's 18 month check up last week. She's doing good. She only had to get one shot so that wasn't bad at all. Way better than getting 4 like usual.

Dentist posted on 02/08/2008
Claire went to the dentist for the first time yesterday. She did a lot better than I thought she would. Awna D (Kev's Mom) went with us to help because I figured Claire would be horrible. She did cry when we first walked in and she saw the chairs and lights. I layed her down on the chair and had to hold her down for just a few seconds. After that she just layed there and cried. Dr. Dyer was very fast and thorough though. That made it a lot easier. He said she was about nine months late on the rate she should be getting her teeth, which just means she'll be late on loosing her baby teeth and late on getting her perminent teeth. He said he's not worried about that or that her tooth is so crooked. He said as more come in they should straighten up. He did say that if she didn't have more teeth, especially her front teeth, by the time she's 2 then he would worry, but until then she's fine. All in all she did very good. I was very proud of her. Oh, when he was done I picked her up, and Claire cried until the nurse put a bracelet on her wrist. She stopped crying immediately and said "ooo". It was so funny. She's such a good little girl. When she wasn't walking and I had to carry her everywhere people would tell me, "Just wait until she's walking. You'll wish she wasn't walking again." They were wrong! I love it that Claire is walking. I guess I feel that way because she was so much older that she was so heavy to carry everywhere. She just a big girl now. She says a lot of real words now and does everything I tell her to do. She can bring whatever I tell her to the garbage. Now she puts everything in the trash. I'll go throw things away and find bowls and things in the trash. It's a big help though. She loves to help me cook. I'll sit her on the counter and let her stir things or pour things in the bowls. She loves it. It's nice to see her pretty smile. It melts my heart when she looks at me with her big blue eyes and smiles. She's a blessing!

It's been awhile since I put pictures on the site, but I finally did it this morning. There are Christmas pictures and a lot more. We bought Claire a big girl potty the other day. I've always told myself that as soon as Claire can bring me wipes and a diaper when I asked her then I would start potty training. She did it last week so we bought a potty. For right now we are just letting her sit on it with her clothes on to get used to it. We'll do that for another week or so. After that we'll start letting her sit on it for real. We're just going to take it slow. Claire also got her first tooth. It broke through Saturday morning. We're excited!! All she needs to do is talk in sentences, and she will be a big girl.

Claire has started saying a lot more words now. She says dog and knows what a dog says (arh arh). She says book, eye, and a lot more. She knows where all her features on her face are, like eyes and nose. She's walking and running now. She loves to dance and sing. If I sing the Backyardigans theme song she will try to sing along. It's so cute! She's such a sweet girl.
