Rylee's Birth
posted on 04/27/2009
Well this will by my final post on Rylee's totsite. Thanks everyone for your prayers, love and support throughout this pregnancy. Rylee is a complete joy and we are so thrilled to have her. Presley loves her so much. She is going to be a great big sis.
Rylee Lynne's Birth:
On the night of March 3rd I went to bed feeling nothing. I thought for sure we would schedule an induction at my appointment on March 4th. I was frusterated because it didn't seem like I was going to go into labor anytime soon. Little did I know that Miss Rylee had other plans. I woke up around 3:30 am on March 4th have to to go to the bathroom. Upon returning to bed I was almost asleep when I felt/heard a pop inside my belly. My first thought was that it was Rylee moving around. But I felt something wet so I stood up and my first thought was "I know I can hold it better than this." ;) When I went back to the bathroom I noticed a little bit of blood and a constant leak. My water had broke! I was so excited I could barely stand still. I was in labor 2 days before her due date and my birthday!! All I wanted was to go into labor naturally and I DID!! I woke Wes up and he jumped out of bed go started getting everything ready to leave for the hospital while I called the doctor. Dr. Groff who I love was on call and said that it sound like my water had broken and to take my time getting ready and head in in a few hours. So I called my parents and Wes called his to let them know the exciting news. Jason agreed to come over and watch Miss Presley while my parents followed us to the hospital. I was able to take a shower and get ready prior to heading to the hospital. At first I was feeling pretty good. My contractions didn't start until about 4:00am. They were coming every 5 to 8 minutes. By the time we got to the hospital my contractions were taking my breath away.
We checked into the hospital and they were able to get me situated. I was checked and they said I was about 3 cm. They started all my work-ups and by about 6:50am (almost 3 hours after my contractions started) I requested an epidural. Little did I know that when you go into labor naturally vs induced labor it takes longer to receive the epidural because they have to process all my work-up information before there is approval. With an induction they are doing all the work-up stuff at the start of your induction so you aren't in too much pain yet. Note to self...if I go naturally again I will request one upon checking in.
I remember at one point being left in the room by MYSELF and my only thoughts were WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!! He was sent on one task...to get my mom who was going to be there for the birth. Little did I know that he got hung up in the nurses who insisted on making him a fresh pot of coffee. He finally returned and I begged him to find out when I was going to get my epidural. Finally after about an hour after the request I received my epidural and unlike Presley's birth where my epidural didn't take...this one was AWESOME!!! They checked me about 8:00am after receiving the epidural and said I was about 5cm. So I decided to rest since it would probably be awhile before I had to push...little did I know. At about 9:00am I was feeling quite uncomfortable. The nurse checked me and said I was 10 cm and ready to push. She called Dr. Groff and I began to start pushing. Towards the end of delivery Rylee got stuck. Her shoulders were having trouble making their way out. So the lovely nurse decide to push HARD on my belly to help pop Rylee out and after a few pushes out she came at 9:23am. Dr. Groff immediately placed her on my belly and I was hooked. So in love with this beautiful little girl. Could it be possible to have two daughters who I am madly in love with. My answer is YES!!! Rylee weighed in a 8lbs 13oz and was 21 inches long. Her cord was wrapped around her neck but not too tight. She was beautiful. My labor with Rylee like Presley's only lasted 5 1/2 hours. I am glad now that I didn't wait too long to go to the hospital after my water broke or we would have been in trouble.
Wes, my mom, Dr. Groff and a nurse were the only ones in the room. It was very intimate and sweet. I didn't experience this the first go around because Presley's birth had alot of complications with her heart rate and swallowing the meconium.
I am so truelly blessed for one to have quick labors ;) and two to have two beautiful and healthy girls to love and raise! God is good!
