Another week has come and gone. Mommy and Daddy are getting more and more nervous and excited with each passing day. Daddy bought Mommy a dishwasher-- hopefully Grandpa Obie and Daddy can get it put in this weekend. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. I am growing bigger and bigger. Mommy and Daddy got to watch me practice my breathing and see my bladder, kidneys, and brains--- how cool is that. I wiggled as much as I could but I don't have too much room left. The pictures aren't turning out as well any more either-- I am just squished. Lorri, my ultrasound technician, showed Mommy and Daddy my hair, flwoing in fluid off the back of my neck!! That explains all of Mommy's heartburn. Mommy has been having pretty regular contractions and lost part of her mucus plug (sorry if that's too much information) so Dr. Abernathy wants to see us every week. Mommy is feeling pretty good otherwise but has definitely noticed some changes in her body and in my movements. Matthew's Daddy, Robert, is going to have Mommy come in for a photo session tomorrow. Mommy is excited and looking forward to being able to capture this pregnancy on film. Robert's website is www.lifespathphotography.com. Well.. It's back to work for us.... see you soon.... With Love, Abigail

This past weekend was a lovely shower for me in Batesville. It was great to hear all of the laughter and eat some yummy cake. Mommy was really delighted to see so many people there that had to drive a long way to see us. The games were fun, although mommy was nervous when grandma Obermeyer pulled out the measuring tape to measure mommy's belly!! Thank goodness for mommy's self esteem that we measured with toilet paper instead!! There were so many lovely gifts that mommy and daddy have already gotten put away and ready for my arrival. Thanks to everyone for everything--- I am so blessed to have such terrific people in my life already. Thank you so much to Grandma and Grandpa Sears and Great-Grandpa Short for the beautiful crib-- it looks great in my room. Thanks to Grandpa Byers and Obermeyer for helping get the ceiling fans going-- Mommy is grateful. Managing the gestational diabetes hasn't been too hard, but mommy still gets to have some cake and is learning to make better food choices, even though it's hard sometimes. Particularly during parties and when Mommy is running late. I have another appointment to see Dr. A on Tuesday, more pictures and we'll see how big I've gotten. Mommy sends her apologies for not having last weeks pictures up yet, but she will get them up and some photos from the shower up this weekend (hopefully). I love you all and less than 7 weeks until we meet!!! Love, Abigail

Mommy and I had our doctor's appointment yesterday, Daddy came too. We got lots of pictutres but I'm getting so big that it is getting difficult to get my face in one frame. I have my head down and my bottom is under Mommy's left rib cage with my legs and arms are under her right rib cage. I have not grown as much over the past 2 weeks as I had in the past 3 weeks but Dr. A says everything is going just fine. Mommy was diagnosed with gestational diabetes yesterday as well. She has to watch what she eats now and take her blood sugars 4 times a day. After I am born it should go away but any time Mommy gets pregnant in the future she will have gestational diabetes again. It also indicates that Mommy is at higher risk for type II diabetes should she ever weigh as much not pregnant as she does when she is pregnant. For me all it means is that I will likely be bigger when I am born and based on recent research it does NOT indicate that I will be overweight or have diabetes in my lifetime. Daddy went to the diesel nationals this past weekend. He had tons of fun and is looking forward to going next year. Mommy and I will likely go with him--- just to keep him out of trouble :) Mommy and I need to get back to work.... Mommy will post my pictures later this week. I hope you are all doing well. Love you all, Abigail

Another week has come and gone. Mommy is getting more tired the bigger I get. Her belly is so big that people ask if she is going to deliver me right in front of them. I'm not done "cookin" yet so I plan to hold off my enterance for a while.
Daddy laughs every time I kick him. He will tap on my bottom (which is up nearly under Mommy's ribs) and I'll kick him back. Mungo still tries to sleep on Mommy's tummy but slides off-- which is fine by me, he's too heavy to hold up anyway.
Last weekend Mommy went to see Grandma Sears, it was a nice visit, with a very yummy breakfast on the deck. Mommy also went to catch Daddy when he got back from new York at Grandpa Byers'-- my aunts are lots of fun and we had a nice visit.
Thank you to everyone that came to my diaper shower in Indianapolis last week. It was really great to feel Mommy laugh so hard. Jennifer and Sloane did an outstanding job and we are incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. We really appreciate all of the wonderful gifts-- they will all be used well :)
Since Mommy didn't pass her first glucose test last week she had to go in for the 3 hour test. She did much better during this one, but since she wasn't allowed to eat or drink until it was over and she hadn't eaten in about 19 hours we were REALLY hungry. Once we were fed though we were fine. We go in to see Dr. Abernathy on Tuesday afternoon-- more pictures. We will have appointments every 2 weeks from now until we go in every week.
October 22nd is getting closer and closer-- Mommy is getting more and more nervous-- if I don't move right when she wakes up she starts to plan how she will get to the hospital and who she will call but I'm just not on the exact schedule she is, some days I like to sleep in a little. She is missing Jonathan too--- I think she is understanding more and more of what she missed with him and that is hard. She is getting pretty good at refocusing on me and trying to enjoy me being here-- but sometimes my brother's memory is just too fresh.
I am getting excited about the Batesville shower. If you would like to come but didn't get and invitation please leave a comment, post in the guestbook, or email Mommy and she will get you in touch with the hostesses.
I hope you are all well..... Until next week, Abigail

We're officially in the 3rd trimester! Mommy and I are in the middle of our doctor's appointment, we are doing a glucose screen to check for gestational diabetes, it is a routine check but Mommy is feeling a bit weird so we'll see what they say. I had lots of pictures taken today. Mommy got to see my face, my crossed ankles, my fingers, me talking (I was probably just drinking a little amniotic fluid), and I had the hiccups for a little bit. I am doing really well--- 5 days ahead of schedule and weighing 3lbs 1 oz! Can you believe that? I've doubled my weight in 3 weeks! I've been working hard and Grandma Kathy's corn on the cob is certainly helping pack on the pounds. Mommy started her new job last week. She is learning a lot about herself and how government works. She likes it pretty well so far but knows that as intense as some days are now there will more to come. It does make her feel good knowing that her work is important and that we are all benefiting from the work she does with children and families. Daddy is going to New York with Grandpa Byers to see Great-Grandma Byers and bring back some furniture for our guest room. He is looking forward to having a long weekend and getting away for a little while. He says he'll miss us, and I believe him. As the time gets closer to me coming home I think he is falling more in love with me and Mommy. Jennifer and Sloane are hosting a Diaper Shower for us this Thursday at Sloane's house. Mommy is looking forward to seeing everyone and to a relaxing evening after training. Having friends in the Indianapolis area help celebrate my life is wonderful and Mommy feels so lucky. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends. Email mommy if you have any questions and she will try to get back with you asap. Grandma Kathy, Grandma Byers, Aunt Angela, and Aunt Theresa are hosting a baby shower in Batesville, Saturday September 1st-- keep an eye on your mailbox for an invitation. At our doctor's appointment today Dr. Abernathy set a date and time for my arrival. Do you want to know or be surprised? I will tell you that it is in October and that it is not on a weekend! :) We'll Mommy has to have some blood drawn--- we'll keep you posted. With Love and Anticipation, Abigail

Daddy felt me kick July 27,2007! Yippee! I've been pretty active. Mungo, the cat, likes to lay on mommy's tummy at night and when he gets to purring I kick him! He gets mad, growls at mommy, and runs out of the room. I think it's funny! Mommy's good friend Jennifer is hosting a diaper shower for us. We hope you can come. It will be on Thursday August 16th after work at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, invitations will be out shortly-- keep an eye out for an e-vite. If you don't get one post a comment with your email address and mommy will be sure to get one out to you. Mommy starts her new job on Monday. She is really excited and nervous but knows it will be great. They are putting her up in a hotel during training, most weekdays until October, that is 2 blocks from the hospital in Carmel. Isn't that convienent?! Not much else is happening this week but we'll keep you posted! Your little love bug, Abigail

Mommy, Grandma Sears, and I went to see the doctors yesterday. Mommy made us late to the appointment, Grandma Sears was even early, but we still got to see Lori, Debbie and Dr. G. Lori took some wonderful pictures of me! I usually have my hands in front of my face and my ankes crossed, in some of the pictures it almost looks like I'm rubbing my eyes. I curled my toes-- mommy was amazed... Lori even took some 4D pictures of me, I'm still a bit skinny for them to really turn out well but we'll do more. I'm still 3 days ahead of schedule and I just keep growing.
We asked Dr. G about what mommy thinks are braxton hicks contractions, he seemed confused. Mommy described them as being stuck in the up position of a sit up with a 40 lb boulder on the stomach, they take mommy's breath away. There hasn't been any radiating pain with them and its not so uncomfortable that Mommy can't carry on a conversation, drive, or walk or anything--- they are just not fun and a little scary. Dr. G checked mommy's scar to make sure it was okay and he said that right now he's not too worried about them, especially since they stop and are only once a day a few days a week, even though they last for 20 minutes or more. He said that if we have them in September when mommy's uterus is stretched even more, we will have another discussion. In the mean time, breathe, stay hydrated, and try to relax.
Mommy and Daddy have been a little more worried lately, this is about the time that mommy went into the hospital with my brother. Everything looks good for me though and as long as I keep growing like I'm supposed to we should all be just fine.
We went to see Sloane and Matthew after our appointment, it was nice to hear all of the voices. Matthew is a cutie and Grandma Sears was able to show Sloane some really great soothing techniques, Matthew loves his back tickled-- he looks like a cat leaning into a good scratch. It was a wonderful visit with Grandma.... mommy learned bunches.
Grandpa Marshall came up to go to church with Mommy on Sunday. It was nice, I love to hear all the singing during the service.
Grandpa and Grandma Byers went to the Freuden Fest with my Aunts Melanie and Natalie, Mommy and Daddy on Saturday. It was lots of fun... and I got to have some corn on the cob! It was a really great visit, we cooked brats and hot dogs, listed to music and Aunt Natalie got to play lots of games in the kiddie tent.
Thursday we went to see Shrek th 3rd with my cousins. It was really neat to hear all of the laughing. We had pizza buffet with Aunt Theresa before we went, it was lots of fun.
Mommy has been working from home and racking up the hours... so much work to do and a welcome distraction from worrying. Mommy is feeling a little better than last week but is still worrying. Grandpa Marshall is going to take us out on a shopping trip, which is exactly what Debbie wants-- focus on the bringing me home and do some shopping she said. (You can ask Grandma Sears daddy!)
So another week down and only 3 more months to go!
With love, Your little Abigail
