9 Months! Where did the time go?
posted on 10/14/2009

So first I would like to appologize for not updating everyone in so long! Once the school year started, I found myself struggling to manage the roles of teacher and mother. Who knew you could function on so little sleep???

We go back to the pediatrician for his 9 month appointment early next week and I'm looking forward to getting his official height and weight measurements... he's getting so big! I guess it's true what they say about Mommy's milk.  Yes, I have been fortunate enough to keep Noah on Mommy's milk for 9 months although with Noah wanting more and more solid food, Mommy going back to school and Mommy battling bronchitis a few weeks back, the supply has gone way down. So we're supplementing with 1/2 formula and 1/2 Mommy's milk.

I can't believe all the wonderful things Noah is doing. He is growing and thriving and getting into EVERYTHING! Noah has 6 teeth, but I think more are on the way. The only time Noah is very fussy and wakes during the night is when he is teething... Mommy and Daddy are very lucky! Just last week Noah started consistently crawling... he'll occasionlly do his army crawl, but I think he's discovered he can get places much faster by being up on his hands and knees. He's pulling himself up in his crib, on the coffee table, chairs, couches, basically anything he can get his hands on.  He's a very curious baby and wants to explore and discover things... even if they seem out of reach. Just yesterday he cruised (walking while holding onto something) from the coffee table to the ottoman. There is no stopping this kid! He tries to blow kisses, but gives up and blows raspberries instead. He claps and raises his hands over his head when we say his "Noah cheer." It is definitely a time to keep the camera ready at all times.

I am trying my best to keep up with his baby book and document everything. I've posted some new pictures from the past couple months so check them out! Until next time..... LOVE & HUGS!

6 Month Check Up!
posted on 07/14/2009

Our little boy is 6 months old!!!

Noah's doctor is very impressed with how Noah is progressing and developing.  I believe the word he used was "Outstanding!" Noah weighs 17 lbs 5 oz (50th %) and is 26 1/2 inches long (50th %).

He is rolling over from back to front as well as front to back. Sometimes he'll just roll his way across the room! He's eating 4 times a day and has solid foods 2 times a day. Right now he's having rice cereal mixed with apples, pears or bananas, but we're looking forward to trying different fruits and veggies. Noah is sleeping 10 hours through the night and has decided to boycott naps right now. If I can get him to nap during the day it's usally only for 15-30 minutes. The pediatrician tells me this is just a phase and hopefully will go back to his normal napping schedule. While we were in Chicago Noah got his first two teeth on the bottom. He only had a couple days where he was miserable... the top ones are not coming in so quickly. His top gums are VERY swollen and have been for about 2 weeks now.  Some days he seems more upset and hurt than others. I hope they come in soon!

This summer has been absolutely wonderful! We took a trip to Chicago and Tennessee and Noah spent lots of time with his cousins and his Godmother when they were visiting my parents. Noah spent some time in the pool and we even took a day trip to a lake. We are getting a visit from Grandpa and Grandma Fennell and Noah is excited to meet them. Noah is going up to Virginia with us the first weekend in August for a friend's wedding. He is such a great traveler! He sleeps pretty much the whole time in the car and only wakes to be fed. I go back to work August 3rd and am going to miss spending my days with Noah, especially during this exciting time in his development. I know his Nana is looking forward to seeing him every day and can't wait for me to go back to work.

I've put up a bunch of pictures from this summer so if you haven't seen them, check them out! I'm amazed at how fast Noah is growing!!! As always, we always love getting visitors and friends and family are always welcome! God bless and Love and hugs to all!!!

4 month check up
posted on 05/15/2009

Where has the time gone??? I can't believe Noah is already 4 months old! He had his 4 month old check up today and the pediatrician was very impressed! Noah weighs 15 1/2 lbs and went from the 50th percentile to the 90th.  He's 25.5 inches long and went from the 25th percentile to the 75th. The nurse measured him twice because she thought he couldn't possibly have grown that much in two months!  He's sleeping through the night from about 9 pm to 6am.  He's hitting all of his milestones and even surprised Mommy and Nana when the doctor put him on his tummy and he propped himself up on his elbows and held his head at a perfect 90 degree angle and looked around the room.  He doesn't do that for us... but maybe he wanted to impress the doctor.  And he did!!!

Noah is having a blast at Nana's house and has developed quite a nice routine including play time and outside time and nap time if Nana's lucky.  Being back at school has been difficult for me, but I'm anxiously awiting summer vacation... just one week to go!  I can't wait to spend my days with Noah and watch all these exciting developments.  We're looking forward seeing family this summer.  Noah will get to spend some time with his cousins and god-mother and he'll get to meet his Great Grandpa Gene and Great Grandma Deverne.  We can't wait!

Thank you for checking up on us and reading all about how Noah is doing.  I'll try to keep updating his website now that he's making so many developments and keep that camera handy so we don't miss anything.  Noah now has his own facebook page so for those of you on facebook look for him there.  Love and hugs to all!!!

Noah's 1st Blog (as told by Abuelo)
posted on 04/04/2009

4/1/09 I’m going to Abuelo’s house because Mommy is going back to work.

7:00–8:30 We played!

8:30–10:00 I took a nice nap. Then Abuelo changed me and fed me. The first nipple he was using was too small, but he found a larger one and that worked fine.

10:00–10:30 After I ate, it only took me 10 seconds to burp. (I’m going easy on Abuelo)

10:30–11:30 Play time again. I am talking a lot to Abuelo and having fun!

11:30–12:45 Nap time

12:45–1:00 Lunch time

1:00–3:00 Play time. I am laying under my Fisher Price barnyard activity mat. This is fun!! Then Abuelo and I played for a while.

3:00 Nap time. Mommy will be here soon! ZZZZZ

4:15 I’m still sleeping, but Mommy is taking me home. See you tomorrow Abuelo!

4/2/09

7:00–8:00 Good morning Abuelo!! Where’s Nana? Away? Send her a hug and squeeze from me!! I see you set up my pack-and-play like a bassinet for me and put my barnyard activity set in it. Good job Abuelo. Now it’s playtime.

8:00–11:00 I think I’ll take a little nap. Well, it turned out to be a loooong nap. Abuelo then got me up to change me and I squirted him good! It’s fun to have a built in super-soaker.

11:00–11:30 Lunch time. Yummy

11:30–1:00 Play time with Abuelo. We had fun. I really like to kick my feet and grab at the rings on my play set. We did “row your boat” and “here’s the way the baby rides” and “here’s a ball for baby” .

1:00–3:30 Nap time. Abuelo, why don’t you take a little nap too! Finally at 3:30 Abuelo had to wake me up so I could have my second bottle before Mommy came. Abuelo didn’t want her to think he was starving me.

3:30–4:00 I had four ounces, played with Abuelo and then had two more. I hear Mommy coming in. Hi Mommy! I had a great day with Abuelo and can’t wait to come back tomorrow!

4/3/09

6:45 I surprised Abuelo and got here early this morning because Mommy wanted to be at school a bit early.

7:00–7:20 Breakfast with Abuelo. He told me this milk and rice cereal is getting a bit boring, and when I am older he will make me pancakes in the shape of N and R. What’s a pancake?

7:20–8:30 Play time. I’m talking a lot, but Abuelo doesn’t understand me. He just smiles and tickles me.

8:30–11:45 Nap Time.

11:45–12:15 Lunch time. More milk and rice cereal. Abuelo said when I am older I would really like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. What’s a sandwich?

12:15–1:30 Play time. Abuelo had wanted to take me on a walk, but it’s really cold and windy so we’ll leave it for another day.

1:30–3:30 Nap time

3:30 Abuelo got me up so he could give me a last bottle before Mommy came to get me, and I got him good. I had a poopie diaper for him, and after he had me all cleaned up, I squirted him. Got you Abuelo

3:45–4:15 Bottle time. Abuelo said the milk would go well with Oreo cookies. What’s a cookie? Mommy’s here, but Abuelo didn’t want me to go home yet so he’s going to fix supper for Mommy and Daddy so I can stay a little longer .

4:15–7:00 Play time. Hito has a camera for his computer so we talked to him for a while. I can now make the cow on my play gym moo and make music by pulling on the rings.

7:00–7:30 Daddy gave me a bottle and then packed me up to go home. Good Bye Abuelo. I had a good time. I love you.

12 Weeks
posted on 04/04/2009

This past week was a big week for both Noah and Mommy!  I had to go back to school on Wednesday so Noah got to spend three days with Abuelo while Nana was in Puerto Rico.  Noah had so much with Abuelo, he even blogged about it!!!  I'll copy it into it's own Journal Entry.

Noah is growing so much!  He up to about 13 pounds and is so active and playful.  He's reaching for his toys that hang from his carseat and activity mat and actually grabs them and moves them around.  He holds his head up and looks around when you hold him.  He's so very interested in the world around him and will tell you all about it!!!

You may recall that Noah was having some problems with gasiness and was having a lot of pain.  It seems that he is such greedy eater he was taking in a lot of air.  Since our last visit to the pediatrician he's been using Dr. Brown's bottles with a little bit of rice cereal mixed in to slow him down and has been so much happier!  He burps after a few seconds and doesn't spit up nearly as much.  It's nice to see him smiling and happy after a feeding.

Well, thankfully it's Spring Break so I get a whole week with my little boy before I have to go back to school... but then it's only 6 weeks until wonderful summer vacation.

Love and Hugs to you all!!!

8 weeks
posted on 03/08/2009

Noah is 8 weeks old today!  Some exciting things happend this past week.  Noah got to meet some more family.  Grandma, Uncle Brian and Great Grandma and Great Grandpa came out  from California for a few days.  Uncle Brian even set up a photo shoot so we could finally get some professional photos taken.  We can't wait to see the pictures Brian has taken.  We had a wonderful time and Noah can't wait to see them again.

I don't know if Noah's as excited as I am about this latest development.  Noah has started sleeping through the night... 7 hours at a time!  I can't believe how fast he is growing.  He's already outgrowing some of his pajamas... he's just getting too long.  He now weighs 11 lbs 7 oz.  He goes back to the pediatrician on Thursday for his 2 month old appointment where he will get his first round of vaccines.

Noah is smiling so much these days.  I love our mornings together when he is so alert and talkative.  Noah is generally a very happy baby... except when he has those terrible gas pains.  We'll be talking with his doctor on Thursday to see if there's anything we can do to help with his gasiness.  Even after being burped, he'll wake up screaming with more air bubbles..poor guy.  As always we love reading posts in our guest book from friends and family.  Enjoy the pictures and check back again soon!  Hugs!!!
