6 Months
posted on 03/29/2009

With Jacqueline returning to work, its hard to keep up with the internet postings.    Bailey is offically 6 months.   We had her 6 month check-up on Friday.  She is 14 lbs 1 oz (20%) and 27" (90%).   She is really tall and skinny.   Now that she is 6 months its time for food!   She has started rice cereal, messy but she likes it.    In about 2 weeks we will start veggies.      Last monday she cut her first tooth.   Its been 6 days and still you can feel the tooth and see the very tip, but it hasn't come up completely.

Bailey is going to daycare during the day.   We call it Ms. Jeanne's Baby School.  She really seems to enjoy herself.   Bailey is all smiles in the morning when she sees Ms. Jeanne and is always happy and "talking" to the other babies when we pick her up in the afternoon.   There are 3 babies and 3 big kids (2 years old).   The big kids "help" with the babies by giving them their blankets and toys when they are dropped.   It's really cute.    One afternoon when I got Bailey home she spit up orange stuff.   I went crazy but Carlos told me to relax and call Jeanne to see if Bailey had eaten anything or been given medicine.   Jeanne said nothing.   She called a few minutes later after talking to the big kids. Carly admitted to helping CJ with his bottle while Ms. Jeanne was packing the babies diaper bags in the afternoon.   Jeanne makes CJ "smoothies" with milk and peach baby food.  So we had our answer.   Needless to say, Ms. Jeanne had a discussion with Carly regarding helping the babies...no issues since!

Bailey loves to spend time in her excersaucer, doorway jumper and playing on the floor.  She has mastered rolling over and now she is starting to pull her legs up under her belly.   Seems like she will be crawling soon...but we will see.    She is able to sit but chooses not to.  Most of the time when we sit her up she will either arch her back and fall backwards or if we are holding her arms she will move her legs and stand up.   Standing is her favorite thing to do...which explains why she enjoys the extersaucer and doorway jumper so much.

She is sleeping through the night.  We usually put her to bed at 7:30pm and she will sleep until about 7am...except if she is in a growth spurt...then we get to hear her "sing" around 5:30am.

That's all for now...I will try to provide updates more frequently...but no guarentee!

2 Months Old
posted on 12/03/2008

Bailey is 2 months old.  Time is flying by.   She is a very easy baby.  She cries for 2 reasons.  1) she is starving 2) she doesn't want to be held.   She is a very independent baby.  She prefers to lay next to you and look at you vs. being held.  She also is very strong.  Since she was 6-7 weeks old she has been holding her head very well.  She needs very little support anymore.   When she is lying on her back she will push herself with her legs and scoot around.   She is not mobile when she is on her tummy but she pushes herself up and moves her head from side to side.

On November 8 she started cooing.   It was fun to watch her because she would work so hard to make 1 tiny sound.   Now she will lay looking at her animals or the fan (her best friend) and she will coo for 20-30 minutes straight.   Around the same time she started smiling but it wasn't until last week that it became evident that she would smile because she was happy or she thinks we are doing something funny.   When we go to her crib to get her in the morning she will smile when she sees us.   She also has started recognizing when we make funny faces and she will smile, every once in a while we get a hint of a laugh.   She has started becoming ticklish.   When we tickle her belly she starts moving her arms and legs really quickly, and will pull her legs into her belly.  She doesn't smile or laugh yet when we tickle her...but we're sure it's coming in another week or so.    When she gets upset she gives us the lower lip which is really funny.

November 14-16 we took her to Big Bear for the weekend with our friends, Eric & Alison Summerfield.    It was a really relaxing weekend.  She did very well on her first mini vacation.   Best of all...she slept the entire car ride up and down the mountain.

Bailey had her 1st Thanksgiving.  We went to Grandpa & Grandma Sobrals and the entire Seifert clan joined us.   She wore a onesie that said "I'm Stuffed" it was really cute.

On Saturday, November 29 Bailey was baptized.   The ceremony was wonderful and she looked beautiful.   After the baptism we had both families and some friends over to the house to celebrate.    Bailey slept through the entire party but all the adults really enjoyed themselves.

On Tuesday, December 2 we took Bailey to the doctor for her 2 month check-up.   She is progressing really well.   The doctor was impressed by her strength and ability to hold her head.   She weighed 11 lbs 5 oz and measured 23".    Both put her in the 75 percentile.   She had to get 5 shots while we were at the doctor.   She was a very sad little girl but thanks to Baby Tylenol she survived the ordeal.

Bailey's 4th week
posted on 10/25/2008

On Friday we took Bailey to her first Halloween Party.   Bailey dressed in a Jack-O-Lantern t-shirt and looked very cute.

Friday night was Bailey's first night sleeping in her "big girl" crib.  She officially moved out of Dad & Mom's room.   Bailey likes to talk in her sleep and had been waking Dad & Mom frequently during the past few days.  So we decided it was time for her to take the big step and move to her own room.  It went very well and everyone got a great night sleep.

We are beginning to see Bailey's personality.  She appears to be a very curious little person and likes to be in control.   She hates to go to sleep.   She will just lay and look around for hours.  She has stayed awake for up to 7 hours at a time.   She is clearly very tired but she just fights going to sleep so she knows whats going on.   When she is eating from a bottle she holds your hands or the bottle really tight as if to say, "Don't you dare take that food away from me...or else."

She is an absolute blast and we are enjoying every minute with her!

Bailey's 3rd Week
posted on 10/20/2008

Bailey is becoming more alert each day.   She typically stays awake and "plays" for about 20 minutes after she eats.   She is interested in all the animals that decorate her room.    She will lay in her crib and stare at them.    We have started tummy time to increase her strength.   The first few times she didn't like tummy time, but it is growing on her.   Its fun to watch her develop and try new things each time she is on her tummy.  Originally she would just move her legs around.   Now she will do a push-up and move her head from one side to the other, so she can check out her surroundings.  She seems to have discovered her tongue this week.  She has started sticking her tongue out and making a "taco" with her tongue.

On Friday, we had a photographer come to the house and take our first family pictures.  Bailey was a natural model.  She was awake the entire hour and she would just stare at the photographer.  We got some amazing pictures.  We should have the images next week and we will post them for everyone to see.

On Saturday, Bailey attended her first wedding.   She and Daddy danced the night away.   Congrats again to Steven & Allyson Grant!

On Monday, we took Bailey to the pumpkin patch.  Unfortunately we arrived just as they were closing but we were still able to take a few pictures near the pumpkins.

Bailey's 2nd Week
posted on 10/13/2008

The past week has been very busy for Bailey.   On Tuesday we went to lunch at Panera Bread and took Bailey to meet her DayCare provider, Jeanne.    Jeanne will be taking care of Bailey when Jacqueline goes back to work in January.   On Friday we went shopping at Nordstrom & Babies R Us and then had lunch at BJs with Grandma & a few family friends.   Today we had Bailey's first doctor appointment.  She weighs 8 lbs 8.5 oz and is 21" tall.   Typically by week 2 babies regain their birth weight.  Bailey not only regained her birth weight but gained an additional 6.5 oz.   She is a big eater...and its paying off!!!    Her personality continues to develop everyday and she is spending more time awake.   She is continuing to sleep well.   At night she sleeps up to 4-1/2 hours at a time.   Mom & Dad are very thankful!!!

Bailey's First Week
posted on 10/06/2008

The first week went very well.   We have had lots of visitors to the house to meet and spend time with Bailey.    She spends her time eating, sleeping and pooping.   She has been sleeping well.   She is awake for about 30 min to eat and then she sleeps for about 2-1/2 hours.    We are starting to see her personality come out.  When she gets mad she "swims" moving her arms and legs around.  She constantly is giving her "kissy" lips.   We saw these lips in the 4D Ultrasound.   Its amazing to see her facial expressions.
