Proud to be an Iowan

Friday morning was a great morning!  The state of Iowa finally said gay/lesbian couples can legally wed.  Now, I know not everyone agrees that this is a great thing and this isn't the place to state my case, but I am proud that Nathan and Will are growing up in a state where they can embrace love.  They will be able to marry whoever they love be it man or woman and I think that is FANTASTIC!!!!  I am sad for the thougsands of people who went before and could not celebrate their relationships, but it is a new day and Hooray for Iowa!

Friday evening we went to a wonderful event at Gateway Park to celebrate the decision It was was a tremendous celebration with tons of rainbow balloons and flags and wonderful speakers. 

(Of course Nathan slept through the whole thing)

Yes. I could not agree more. This is a wonderful thing. A few years ago there were rumors going around about a new doctor we had. At a meeting, this large, male nurse seemed to feel he had to inform me of the "fact". I had no idea if it was a fact or not and did not care, so I looked at him straight in the face (well sorta since I am short) and said "Your know we all need to be loved by someone." You should have seen the look on his face. I would like to think he somehow thought about what I said, but I doubt it. I think he is a fool. Loving and being loved is what is important. Thank you for sharing this.
