Lung Walk recap
posted on 10/16/2009
I woke up at 4:30 so that I could be at the walk by 6 to help get everything set up. As I drove in, it was cold and rainy. I just hoped that everyone would brave the weather and come to the walk anyway. About halfway through getting set up, I went into the zoo and started putting up signs around the route. When I came out to the gathering area after that, the sun was up and the rain was down to a mist. The day was looking up.
Then I spotted him...Spider Man. He came up to me and let me know that he had heard about Nathan's team and had made him a special autographed picture with his own art work on it.
Shortly after that Nathan came in and was greeted by Spidey. Very cool.

The rest of the team began to gather and we handed out the t-shirts. By the time we all gathered around, we had 38 people on TEAM NATHAN! We had also raised $1,285. THANKYOU!

A special thanks goes out to Grandma Joan, Uncle Mike and Aunt Lolly who all donated $100 or more. Also, thank you Casey for all of your help making shirts and recruiting walkers. Finally, thanks to Julie Charikov who brought a whole bus load of her students from Marshalltown to walk on TEAM NATHAN!
Through my work with the ALA I have met an amazing woman whose daughter (aged 22) who had asthma, but just thought of it as a bother, passed away 2 years ago from an asthma attack. I think about Erin (the young girl) every day. I mention this because it is Erin's families goal to get every asthma family to put together an asthma plan. Please call the ALA if you have any questions. Please, please do everything you can so no one else has the heartache of losing a child to asthma.
