Bumps and sucking guts out
posted on 10/20/2009
Last night we were getting settled in while Steve was at the City Council meeting. Nathan decided he wanted a drink. I hadn't turned the lights off downstairs so I told him he could go down and get it off the counter. A few seconds later...bump, boom, aaarrrrrgggghhh, Mamma! He had fallen down the stairs. Remember, this is an old victorian home so the stairway is long and steep. I rushed from the bedroom and picked up a sobbing and scared little boy. He kept telling me he was scared to go down by himself so he was hurrying and then fell. He had a red spot on his hip, but wanted Grandma Joan. Fortunately, it was late enough that she could break away from the pumpkin patch for 10 minutes and rush to the aid of her grandson who magically healed when she came.
While she was there, he explained to her that when someone gets old, they die and God sucks their guts out and puts their bodies in the grave then takes them up to heaven to play games with him. He mentioned several times that he liked the "gut sucking out part."
I guess that's one way to look at death.
My little William still goes to sleep holding his Scooby-Doo books. Last night, he woke about 1a saying...read Scooby book, read Scooby book. So I read for abot an hour and then tried to have Steve take over since he has this week off. Couldn't really get him up, so from 1a-3a I got no sleep. TIRED today!
