The Maple Syrup Festival

Some friends of ours told us about The Maple Syrup Festival in Salem, IN (about one hour north of here), so we decided to take a trip into the country to see what it was all about. It was awesome! We so enjoyed being in the country--a wonderful place where cell phones don't work, the people are nice, and you can just enjoy nature!
John Robert had a great time eating waffles with whipped cream and chocolate chips. He bounded throughout the open property, free to run without worrying about cars going down the street. He got to pet the horse, chase the dogs, and watch the mule drawn carriage go by. He sat on the porch by the creek to enjoy a juice box. He danced to the gospel music that was being sung. He and his daddy threw rocks in the creek and put their hands in to see how it felt. We ate kettle korn and maple cotton candy. I changed John Robert's diaper in a wooden shanty that looked like an out house. It was a wonderfully mild day weather-wise, and we were just so blessed to be able to enjoy the Lord's creation of undisturbed country life!
