Our Very Own Snaggletooth

John Robert has officially lost his first tooth. Before you get too excited, realize that he is only 20 months old. He fell against one of our dining room chairs last night, and severly dislodged his front left tooth. We immediately went to Kosairs Children's Hospital, and they called in a Pediatric Dentist. The tooth was so severly damaged that it had to be pulled. He was awesome through everything. Jeff held him while the dentist extracted the tooth, and the whole procedure took less than five minutes. The worst part of the whole deal (other than him missing his tooth) is that we had to give up the pacifier. He can't suck on a pacifier, straw, or sippy cup for 3-4 more days, so we are having to break him of his paci and train him on a big cup, which he is doing great with...he hardly ever spills it.
We followed up with our pediatrician this morning, and he said that everything looks great. We are scheduled to see a pediatric dentist on Thursday. Hopefully she will be able to give us more information about what the future holds for the tooth that should come in beside the empty space, any damage to the already forming permanent tooth, and any possible fracture of the bone above the space where the removed tooth was (The pediatric dentist in the ER said that if there is a fracture, it should heal itself well since he is so litte.)
Please pray with us thanking God for His hand of protection and asking for patience as we break him of the pacifier.
