John Robert at Two
posted on 08/05/2008

I can't believe my baby is two!  Where has the time gone?  It has been spent loving on, playing with, training, and having lots of fun with John Robert!  He is such a joy and our heart's delight!

Below are a few of his recent accomplishments, likes, and dislikes...

  • He has a recent disinterest in cake.  We went to a birthday party Friday night, and he only took one bite of his cake.  The next day we had cupcakes, and he again only took one bite. Same thing with his birthday cupcakes.  What is up with that?!?
  • He can sing the ABC song, though he usually skips K through P.  He even does the ending, "Now I know my ABCs..."!
  • If he doesn't like a food you are offering, he will say, "Don't like it, Mommy" even though it never enters his mouth!
  • He is developing a nice set of manners.  Just within the last week, he has been correcting himself.  If he says No, he will pause, and then say No Ma'am.
  • He is beginning to stutter.  I had a friend whose three kids all went through a stuttering phase at this age, so hopefully it will pass like it did for her three kids.  If he is still doing it at his doctor's appointment on the 26th, we will ask the doctor about it.
  • He only stutters when he formulating an original thought.  He usually doesn't stutter if he is just repeating something that someone else said.
  • He is still loving books and puzzles.  He would read and play puzzles all day long.
  • He can pitch quite the fit.  After you correct him for it, sometimes he will say, "No pitch fit."
  • He loves to give hugs and kisses, but a kiss is only a kiss if it involves the smacking noise.
  • He has the cutest little hip shake when he runs.
  • If you are trying to take a picture of him and he is not interested, he will say, "No camera!"
  • He loves reading his Bible before bed each night.  It is such a treasured time for our family.  He is getting better and better at saying his own prayers to God.  He is repeating our prayer less and less these days.
  • He has almost perfected the first catechism.  It is precious to see that he able to learn about the Lord even at this young age!  May the Lord grow a desire in John Robert to have a heart like His!
