Long Awaited Update
posted on 02/23/2009

You have probably given up on us since my last update was the week of Christmas.  There have been so many changes in our lives since then.

On Christmas Eve, we made our final drive south from Kentucky and moved to Alabama.  We lived with Jeff's parents in Dothan for six weeks, and Jeff commuted to his new job as Student Minister at First Baptist Opp.  The Lord has blessed us with the opportunity for me to be a stay at home mom, and I am loving it!

After many delays, we finally closed on our first house on February 6th.  We love it!  Check out the pictures in the Photos section.  Two days later, Michelle went to Selma for a week to take care of her mother following shoulder surgery.  Talk about getting unpacked in a hurry!

Two weeks after we moved into our house, we had to have the sewer line from the house to the city sewer replaced.  Welcome to home ownership!  The Lord provided a very helpful church member who helped us out and got our problem taken care of quickly!

Jeff was ordained into the Gospel Ministry on Sunday, February 15th.  It was a service that we will never forget.  We were surrounded by an awesome church family who spoke many words of truth and encouragement over us.  The charge was given by Jeff's home church pastor, Tom Anderson.  It was so special to Jeff that Brother Tom was able to take part in the service.  Our pastor, Brother Mike, gave the charge to the church.  We are so blessed to be apart of First Baptist Opp!

This past Sunday afternoon, our church family "pounded" us with tons of groceries, paper products, and cleaning products.  Their generosity was astounding.  Our pantry is stocked for months to come!  May the Lord bless them as they have been a blessing to us!

Just as we were finally settling into our new routine, John Robert got sick :(.  On this past Sunday night, he spiked a fever of 105 degrees.  I panicked!  Since we don't have a pediatrician here yet, I called on a doctor in our church that was able to advise me on how to bring his fever down quickly.  When we went our new pediatrician today, John Robert was happy and active as if nothing ever happened.  He does have a slight ear infection and probably an underlying viral infection that caused his fever to go so high.  By God's grace, he is doing better tonight, although his fever started coming back.

Hopefully we can begin some kind of routine next week.  I am ready to get organized and begin having a normal stay-at-home-mom life!
