Bennett Mitchell Speck

JOURNAL

September 20th, Day 32, 11 pm

Bennett had a really good day.  He spent most of the day snoozing and only had a few irrate "moments"......usually involving a diaper change- shocker.  Tonight Bennett indulged us with some of his wide-eyed, happy and alert time spent with mommy, daddy, Uncle Chris, Grammie, and Grampa, so that was a really special treat for all of us.

The MRI has yet to take place but will be happening any time, so please continue to keep Bennett in your prayers for that procedure.  We have heard the MRI machine is super loud and quite containing, so we are praying that Bennett does well.

Travis and I have a meeting tomorrow at 2 pm with the doctors and social worker to ask questions, talk about Bennett's current state, and discuss the future plan for our precious boy.  Obviously we will hope to gain more wisdom after that meeting takes place, so we will post an update tomorrow afternoon with those details.

Bennett got to listen to his daddy whisper into his ear and give him lots of kisses tonight on his cheek and head.  I had so much fun watching Bennett's face as he listened intently to the words of his daddy and as he closed his little eyes each time Travis kissed his face.  He is so happy when his daddy is talking, singing, or touching him- it is the sweetest thing I have ever seen.

The top prayer requests are tonight are continued strength and complete healing for Bennett's lungs, for the secretions in his lungs to dry up, for his MRI & EEG results to come back normal, for Bennett's blood pressure to lower (it has been a bit high, which is somewhat normal for babies as sick as him), and for continued wisdom for the doctors and nurses caring for Bennett.

Also, a huge praise that the ECMO baby got taken off last night and is doing wonderful!  We have gotten to visit with his parents several times and they are so thankful that he is off.....his parents are also very thankful for all the prayers lifted up for their son.  God is very good.

We will post more updates tomorrow.......

Love,

Kelly, Travis & Bennett

Kelly, Travis and Little Bennett:
I haven't posted any comments in a while, but just wanted you to know that you are continually in my prayers. I think about your family every day and check the website to hear any updates. Thank you so much for doing that. I know you have so much going on but it is a blessing for us to be able to support you as best we can through the information you give us on the website. The new pictures really show how much progress your angel boy has made. Praise to God for Bennett's continued progress and for all the wonderful things that have come out of such a difficult time for your family. Your family is truly an inspiration in faith in our Lord and what the power of prayer can do. Our Lord can do anything and he has proven that with sweet Bennett. I pray that the MRI will go well and for his continued improvements. Lord, I thank you for the wonderful medical staff that is watching over Bennett. Love to you all!

Isaac had an MRI at 6 months old and it is quite loud. HOwever, he slept through the entire thing with just a very mild sedative. We pray that Bennett doesn't even realize he is not in his cozy bed and snozes away in the MRI machine. We also pray that your meeting goes well with the Doctors.

We are holding you especially close to our hearts today. We pray that the day will go well with Bennett and the meeting will give you more insight about Bennett's well being. We pray for all to feel the Lord's nearness today, to feel his love and comfort...to give you peace as you go about the day caring for Bennett. Phillipians 4:6-7 We will be praying boldy for ALL of Bennett's needs and for the medical staff that so lovingly cares for him. The Lord will provide.

Travis, Kelly, and Bennett...

Sweet, sweet pictures! Thank you for sharing your "little man" with us.

Jesus, bless this family today. Soothe and calm Bennett as he gets the MRI and I pray the results are NORMAL!!!

You love the little children...and I know Bennett is always under Your watchful eye and in Your loving care. Thank You! We rejoice that You take such a personal interest in those who love and follow You.

You know before we ask the needs of Bennett, his family, his doctors and nurses, and his many friends (new and old, near and far, young and old) and Jesus I ask that You would bless each need as only You can. You know the desire of our hearts is for a complete miraculous recovery of Bennett...secretions in his lungs to dry up, lungs to expand and function at 100%, blood pressure to normalize, blood gases to continue to be stable, and Jesus when the MRI and EEG are done I pray the results are "miraculous" as only YOU can provide.

Thank You for Your love, strength, and sacrifice for each one of us. Oh, and would you please tell our Father in Heaven, thank You for showing us how to love...even if sometimes it hurts. :) Amen.

Happy one month birthday! :)
So glad to hear all the good news -- we'll pray extra-hard for a good MRI (experience & results).

Praying specifically for Bennett right now- especially for the MRI. I will be praying for you and the doctors during the 2pm hour tomorrow! I hope that once the MRI is over, everyone will rest peacefully.
