Growth Chart
Date Weight Length
11/05/2009 23 lbs. 11 oz. 31.5 in.

Carly had her 15 month healthy baby check-up today.

She's in the 90th percentile for her head size and height and in the 75th percentile for her weight.

Her check-ups are getting a bit harder now that she can wiggle and squirm. She really didn't appreciate getting poked and probed and cried most of the visit.

Carly had a pretty bad ear infection that Dr. Mills found which shocked us because none of the tell-tale signs were there. What we learned was that excessive ear wax can be a sign of an ear infection which Carly did have about a week ago... You learn something new all the time.

Dr. Mills did tell us Carly is going great and her talking skill level is advanced for her age. She also told us were doing a great job and all the right things... a pat on the back is always nice now and again.

10/15/2009

Carly went in for an unscheduled doctors visit today.

The last few days she's had a temp and a really nasty looking sore on her tougne. She has been showing a lack of interest in food and is very fussy. Her tounge is also partly white.

The doctor said she has a viral infection and could see a few other marks similar to the one on her tounge in the back of her throat and rough of her mouth.

Dr. William's said she should be passed it in a few days, there are no meds for it, the virus just has to run its course. If it hasn't cleared up in a few days to give another call and bring her back in.

08/05/2009 20 lbs. 22 oz. 31 in.

Carly had her 1 yr old check-up today and man is she tall. She is in the 95th percentile for height.

She is in the 65th percentile for weight.

Dr. Mills told us everything looks great and she's doing everything a normal 12 month old does. She did say Carly was talking a lot for her age (guess she gets that from her mom)

07/02/2009 22 lbs. 10 oz.

Today we made out 2nd trip of the week into the doctors office.

It all started on Monday when Allison called to let us know Carly had a temp of over 100. By the time we got her home it had just to over 103.

The doctor checked her out on Monday and thought she was fighting a viral infection and no meds could help her out.

Later that night her temp jumped up another degree to 104. We gave her a warm bath to help lower her temp, had her drink some nice cold water and gave her Motrin in hopes its a little stronger then Tylenol.

We brought her back in to the doctors on Thursday once the temp had gone down to make sure she didnt' have a chest infection. She has been coughing for over 2 wks now and before the long holiday weekend we want to make sure everything is okay.

The doctor has put Carly back on her GERD meds and is having us try the meds for a week or so to see if the coughing stops.

05/05/2009 20 lbs. 10 oz. 28 in.

Carly's 9 month check-up went great. They have taken her off the GERD meds in hopes she has outgrown the GERD.

She is in the 75th percentile for her height, weight and head size (17 3/4 cm).

Dr. Mills is having us put Carly on 3 meals a day and can now start eating real food.

Dr. Mills said Carly's development is great, she's doing all the right things. She's using her pinching fingers, doing backwards crawling and could start pulling herself up any day now. She has nice strong legs.

The best new is she didn't have to get any shots, not until her 12 month check up.

02/17/2009 18 lbs. 7 oz.

Carly had her ear infection check up today and her ears look good. She also got her 6 months shot and was not a happy camper to get them. She was also old enough to get a flu shot and even though flu season is almost over... we figured it couldn't hurt to have one esp with all the bugs she's gotten this winter.

02/03/2009 17 lbs. 6 oz. 26 in.

Carly had her 6 month check up today and passed with flying colors. She is in the 50th percentile for her height and 75th percentile for her weight. Her head was 16 cm which is the 25th percentile. They checked her heart and lungs which all sounded nice and strong.

They also did a test to see how well she raises her head with her shoulders to make sure her neck development is continuing to be strong which she did great with.

Some of the other things Dr. Mills asked about to make sure Carly is doing the things she needs to do were:

  • does she look at you when you say her name
  • does she grab at objects
  • can she move an object from one hand to the other
  • does she look at herself in the mirror.

All of which are things Carly is doing.

Carly was supposed to get her 6 months shots today but due to her recent ear infection we're holding off on her shots until she goes back to the doctors in 2 wks for her ear follow-up.

12/28/2008

Following up on my lastest entry in regards to Carly not feeling so hot....

Today we made another call into the doctors about Carly not feeling very well. Last night she got sick again and this morning had the poopies. They say when a baby has the poopies multiple times in one day you should alway consult your doctor... so we did. Come to find out looks like our little girl has a viral infection. There isn't much they can do for her but let the bug run its course. We increasing the liquids, elevating the bed and everything else we can do to help this pass.

The good news is not feeling to well doesn't seem to be fazing her. She doesn't fuss after throwing up and having the poops doesn't bother her either. We just hope this passes soon.

12/26/2008 16 lbs. 65 oz.

We had an unplanned doctors visit today. Carly got sick for the first time yesterday.... christmas. The poor girl threw up the entire content of her belly...which covered herself, me and my brothers poor couch.  Just to be on the safe side we went to the doctors to have her checked out. They said she could have gotten sick from being over tired or from her GERD and over congestion. The doctor checked her heart and lungs and said they all sounded good and also checked her ears for infection which also passed with flying colors... we'll just have to wait and see if this runs its course.

12/09/2008 15 lbs. 1/2 oz. 25 in.

Carly had her 4 month check-up today. She is growing nice and strong. The doctor said her head and neck development is like a 6 month old which she thought was great.

We learned she's in the 90th percentile for her height, 75th percentile for her weight and only 25th percentile for her head (she doesn't have the Frink head!!)

We can now start her on baby cereal and in about 3 weeks we can start her on stage one baby foods (veggies and fruit).

Carly also got her second round of shots so needless to say we have our handsful today.

10/28/2008 12 lbs. 9 oz.

Carly had her follow up appt for GERD today and Dr. Mills thinks its really helping and wants us to continue using the medication until our next appointment with her which will be her four month check-up in December.

She also suggests we stay using the soy formula rather than using anything that is milk based and advised that we only need to give Carly the gas medication as needed since she is burping well on her own.

The nurse also couldn't believe how active Carly is and could believe she was rolling over. (which she has now done on more than once). Carly was haming it up big time for the nurse.. smiles and giggles like crazy.

10/07/2008 11 lbs. 6 oz. 22.5 in.

Today Carly got her first round of shots and she was not happy about it. She received 3 shots in her thighs and had one medication she had to drink. The drink she did not mind and the nurse said how well she did taking it. The shots were for polo, hepatitis and meningitis. The doctor said she may get a fever and if she does to give her Tylenol every 4 hrs for 48 hrs and that she maybe sleepy.

We also have a new medication for Carly to take twice a day as she was diagnosed with GERD which is part of the acid-reflex partnered with heartburn. The doctor told us the GERD is why she cries while she's nursing and being burped and it is also the reason why she is wanting to eat so often. Eating helps sooth the burn for a bit.

We were also told that she is developing perfectly. She can grab and hold items, she's starting to sit up and hold her head up and she's starting to follow objects with her eyes which are all things she suppose to accomplish at this stage in her life.

09/02/2008 9 lbs. 4 oz.

We had our 3rd doctors appointment today and she was called perfect by both the doctor and the nurse. The doctor said Carly was the most alert 1 month old she has ever seen.

Her spit up is due to active acid-reflux and is extremely normal for babies because they haven't gotten use to the use of all their muscles. She advised we continue with the gas meds we've been giving her and said if I wanted to try a bit of dairy again I could but if she begins to seem fussy again I should stop.

And as you can notice from the changes in her weight she has no problem eating. She's gained a bit of weight since her last appointment but she is now in the 50th percentile which is perfect.

We go back in a month for our first round of shots!!!

08/19/2008 7 lbs. 9 oz. 20 3/4 in.

2nd Dr's Appt

Today we had our 2nd doctors appt and Carly has gained a whole pound since her last visit.

The doctor has advised that I lay off the dairy as Carly has been fussy lately and feels that maybe the reason she has gas and goes on cry sprees. She now has to take gas drops after every meal and before she goes to bed. Its crazy how something like me drinking a glass of milk can affect my little girl so much!

08/08/2008 6 lbs. 9 oz. 19 1/2 in.

First Dr's Appt

Had our first doctors appt today and miss Carly pee'd all over the table!
