I realized she isn't a baby anymore ...
posted on 08/24/2009

Today I was picking up Mya at school like I always do and the sight I saw almost brought tears to my eyes. Mya has been going into her "new" class periodically to help her with her transition to the one year old class.  She will be offically in her new class starting on Monday, August 31.

When I walked into the room today the room was filled with the laughter and noise of about 8 one year olds.  The teacher had the bubble machine blowing all over the kids and they were one by one trying to jump around and pop the bubbles as they filled the air.  In the midst of all that excitement there was our Mya, my Mya was standing tall, bouncing around trying to get her share of bubbles to pop. She was laughing and pointing at the bubbles that were popping on her fingertips.  It was one of those innocent moments that I will never forget.  It was in that moment that I realized, my baby is no longer classified as a baby, she is a toddler!  Needless to say she was having so much fun with her new friends, she cried when we had to leave.

Dogs, Dogs, Dogs
posted on 08/22/2009

Tonight we went to our friends house for dinner and Mya was playing with thier two dogs, Layla and Harper.  Both dogs tower over her but she didn't care she loved the attention.  She would go to thier toy bin and grab toys in which they would come and take them from her, then come back for whatever it was next she had in her hands.  She even ran around the back yard while Layla was playing catch with her daddy.

Yes, both puppies loved giving Mya kisses.  She would walk towards them and then when they came her way she's run away all the while they met up with her with kisses.  All three of the "babies" were fun to watch.  So, is it time to get a DOG?

Three Doctor visits in Seven Days
posted on 08/18/2009

Yes, really.  We have been to the doctors office three times and once to the emergency room in the past week.  And next week, Mya has her one year checkup.  I'm so glad we've got amazing health insurance!

Our latest trip was just this morning because Mya all of the sudden has a red bumpy rash all over her body.  Daycare of course freaked out and said that she must have an appointment before she is allowed back.  Hence, the appointment this morning. Well, the doctor didn't know exactly what was going in with her rash but knew that it wasn't anything like chicken box, measles or a heat rash.  So, just to be safe they advised me to keep Mya home from school today just in case she was contagious.  So, here we are sitting at home playing and watching Noggin.

Mya's 1st Semi-Sleepover
posted on 08/14/2009

Tonight Mya's BFF (best friend forever!!), Elysa came over for alittle while her parents went out for a night on the town.  When it come to bedtime the girls both were in Mya's bed chatting and playing like a couple of best friends.  It was the cutest sight to see.  Since Mya just got her ouchie on her head we decided to have them sleep in seperate beds versus both in the crib.  We didn't want any feet to head during the night.  Of course Elysa was picked up later that night but Mya woke up the next morning looking for Elysa in the bed beside her!  It was really cute.  She was wondering where her BFF had gone.

A day we will never forget ....
posted on 08/11/2009

Earlier in the week Mya hasn't been feeling well so today I made her an appointment just to see that all was okay. She wasn't eating like she usually does, nor was she playing or napping like herself.  Her appointment was well, there wasn't anything showing in her bloodwork that she had come down with something, so they just stated she was under the weather and that she should be back to her old self again soon.

Well, not even an hour later she and I were at home and she managed to be walking and her wobbly self fell down and bumped her head into the corner of the wall.  Needless to say, it wasn't a pretty site for me.  She had blood running down her face and all over her and I.  She was a champ through it all, I was the one that was borderline freaking out.  But  I managed to stop the bleeding and after calling Derrick and Grandma Hatfield it was decided that a trip to the ER was a good idea.

Derrick met us at the ER.  The doctor decided against 3 stitches and instead place dermabond (super glue for your body) in her cut for healing.  In the days after I started calling Mya "Frank-en-Baby".  The wound looked just like Frankenstein minus the stitch marks.  All and all the ER visit wasn't too bad. Mya was walking around talking to everyone while eating snacks and watching tv.  Our entire trip to the ER was over in 2 hours, not bad for an ER visit I hear.

On Sunday, August 16 the scab fell off and now we are left with a pink, semi red/bloody scar on her forehead.  We are applying mederma scar ointment to the area a few times a day to help prevent a horrible scar.  Hopefully in the end the scar is pretty clean and light.

Getting Ready for the Big Day!
posted on 08/02/2009

I can hardly believe that the day is almost here.  My Mya is going to be the big O-N-E before you know it!  Time has flown by so fast, it seems that just yesterday we were welcoming her to our family.

In preperation for the big day Derrick and I have started to buy the party supplies and started to getting ready for our big family BBQ.  We have family coming in from both New Jersey and Ohio, plus our friends from Georgia.  Mya's 1st birthday BBQ is going to be HUGE!  I can't wait for everyone to be together all because of our Mya.

Stay tuned for the pictures and videos from the big day!

New to Walking + Cement = Scrapped Knee
posted on 07/23/2009

On nice mornings Mya's class often goes outside to play before it gets too hot.  Well on this day Mya was playing with a toy that you push and she lost her balance playing with the toy and fell down and scrapped her knee on the playground.  I can't believe she is big enough to have her first "cement" ouchie!  She had a cute little bandaid (on for all of about 5 seconds) and everything.
