She Stands Alone
posted on 04/09/2009

A few weeks ago Derrick and I were playing with Mya on the floor and next thing you know, she let go of Derrick and was standing up all by herself.  At first it was a once in a while type thing.  She would be walking around the couch or gate and then test herself to see if she could stand or not.  Well, next thing you know she is standing up, laughing and then falling on her bottom.  It's not long now before we think she will be walking.

Sick-E-Poo
posted on 03/30/2009

So today Mya stayed home from school because she is sick. She woke up a few times in the middle of the night crying and we noticed she had a temperature.  She didn't want to eat, her diaper was changed and of course she didn't want to go to sleep.  Even though it was 12:30 and 2:50 in the morning.  So finally after fighting with her to go to sleep last night she slept on and off until it was time for Derrick to go to work.  Needless to say, I called my office and told them that Mya was sick and I was going to stay home.  She still has a fever but she has been able to eat and she's taken a few great long naps.  I hope tonight isn't a repeat of last night, I just hate to see her like this.

Beauty Shop
posted on 03/28/2009

It's been raining for the past 3 days around here so today, Mya and I decided to hang out and be lazy most of the day.  She took a super long nap and I've just been playing catch up with laundry.  After her nap though we played a little bif of beauty shop.  I put Mya's hair in pigtails - so cute!  It's really cute until you turn her around and the back of her head is completely bald, okay, give or take a few strands.  But it was fun!

Oh and she has started pulling herself up on Derrick and I. She will crawl over to us and give our shirts a tug until she is up to us.  And she is also crawling all over the place and then at a drop of a hat able to stop and sit on her butt.  It's that little things that are amazing.  I can't believe how fast she is growin, yesterday was 7 months.

Easter Bunnies
posted on 03/21/2009

Today Mya and her cousin Emma went and got pictures taken with real Easter bunnies.  I'm so excited, I can't wait to get them back.  Mya wore her pink Easter dress and smiled the whole time.  We were able to get some amazing pictures.  The photographer said she was so easy to shoot and was so excited at how the pictures turned out.  She asked if we minded if she took some pictures of Mya for her website and of course we didn't say no.  We took all of her clothes off and she sat on a white backdrop and had a bunny tale taped on her booty and some bunny ears on her head.  The photographer sat her sideways that way when she looked and smiled it was over her shoulders.  Those were the best ever!  I'll keep an eye out for them to be posted on the website and then I'll post the site for all to see.  Papi was so excited to hear that Mya had her first modeling job!

Mya's 1st Trip to the Zoo
posted on 03/20/2009

Our friends from Washington were in town visiting so we decided to travel to Montgomery, AL and meet up with one of Auntie Sarah's friends.  We met at the Montgomery Zoo which allowed for the kids to walk around and look at the animals and eat like fat kids.  Mya loved the entire trip. She was a bit fussy in the car to and from by what could I expect, it was a 3 hr drive.  I had her in her big girl stroller and she just took in all the noises and scenery, caught a nap and managed to poop on Auntie Sarah.  I pointed out animals to her and told her a little bit about everything (hold on, she has crawling in the hallway, brb) even though she had no clue, it was still a good time.  She of course catch the attention of everyone we passed, she is such a hamm.  I can't wait until the summertime so we can go to the Atlanta zoo.

And she's off ...
posted on 03/15/2009

Today Mya took her first official "crawl".  She's been doing this leg scoot things for the last week but today it was official, she's crawling. Of course she isn't a pro ...  yet, but she will soon get there.  Derrick and I are so proud of her but so sad that she is growing at the rate she's growing.  I can't believe how much has progressed in six short months.

A taste of Springtime
posted on 03/11/2009

I decided that since Mya is now sitting up pretty much on her own, I figured it was time for us to try sitting her up in her stroller the regular way instead of using the car seat attachment. So she and I went for a walk around the block and the smile on her face was priceless.  She sat up so big in her stroller and took in the world as it passed her by.  She looked at the trees, cars, kids and dogs in amazement.  We stopped a few times and I'd tell her what things were i.e. the birds were singing, dogs were barking and the sun was going down.  Mya was alert for the entire ride, never dosed off a minute.  She and I were just talking back and forth, enjoying each others company and the 75 degree weather.  It's the little moments like these that I'll forever be grateful and cherish always.  She is my world and everyday those innocent eyes of hers make my heart fall in love with her all over again.

Snow Day!
posted on 03/01/2009

Yep, you read it right, today Mya had her first snow day (in Georgia)! She and I got all bundled up (her little boots are too cute) and headed off to play in the snow.  She stood in the snow and held it in her hands. She looked at it for a second and opened her hand back up and gave it to me.  I think she realized it was cold. She looked so cute out in the white snow.  Already, her being six months is turning out to be a good time!
