I can't believe it.  Alexander is 3 weeks old today.  It seems like we just brought him home.

For my first Mother's Day, Dan and Alexander took me to the Trenton Country Club for brunch.  Brunch was wonderful.  Alexander and I pretty much lounged around the rest of the day while Dan did some things around the house.

Under Alexander's supervision, Dan planted me some flowers over the weekend.  When the flowers really bloom, they will make a nice addition to our home.

We're starting Alexander early with community service.  We participated in a local park clean up today.  OK, Dan cleaned while Alexander and I hung out in the sun and talked to people. (Photos in the album)

Alexander also attended his first wedding this weekend.  The bride was beautiful and the setting was gorgeous.  Alexander was a perfect guest.  He slept most of the time and woke up when he was  hungry or needed changing.  He was definitely the youngest guest in attendance and received lots of attention. (Photos in th album)

Unfortunately, he was too small to wear his outfit.  Maybe he'll fit it by the time we go to Atlanta in July.

Alexander had a little jaundice while in the hospital.  We had to readmit him to the hospital when his lab work showed his bilirubin levels were increasing.

After almost another two days in the hospital, we were finally able to take him home.

Since we knew today was our last day in the hospital, we got up early to prepare (pack our things and get them in the car).  Unfortunately, the discharge from the hospital took a while.  The pediatrician ordered additional tests on Alexander and I had to wait for my doc (who had 4 women in labor that morning) to write the prescription for my pain meds.

I had installed the car seat the previous week but I guess Dan and I should have practiced using it because we got into a disagreement about how to adjust it and probably spent an additional 30-45 minutes in front of the hospital trying to figure it out.

We finally headed out, did some errands, and made it safely home.

We checked in on May 2nd and Michelle was induced (40 wks).

She immediately went into labor which made for a long and for a painful night.  By 2:30am she got a epidural which calmed her down for a few hours.

The doctor was here before 7am and Michelle started delivery.  There was a small army in the room.  She pushed and pushed but after the all nighter there wasn't much left.  Alexander got the beginning and neither the vacuum pump or the forceps were working.

Dr. Ung made the decision to go for the C-Section and in no time the army had re-encorcements.  We had four doctors, probably 8 nurses.  Happily we're friends with two of the doctors Dr. Broad (the anethesiologist and Dr. Hall one of the docs in Dr. Ung's practice.

The group made short work of the delivery and before you know it Michelle was recovering and I was in the nursery with Alexander.

Michelle's on liquid food, has a small temperature but mostly is in good spirits.  The baby is fine though he's got a black eye from the forceps.

I'm busy hijacking Internet access from one of the hospital computers.

Today is my due date.  Baby D still has made no moves to come out on his own.  I'm spending the day tidying up a few tasks before we check into the hospital this afternoon.

Wish us luck for a quick labor and a healthy delivery.

We had a big day at the doctor's office today.  The end result is that I'm checking into the hospital tomorrow evening to begin the induction process and Baby Dodson will be here on Thursday, May 3 (hopefully).

Dan and I will be very busy the next day or so getting final touches done and Dan will be sending an email when we have the big news to share.
