"peesh" posted on 08/11/2009
In Gavin speak "peesh" do not hate me for not updating in awhile. I now have a walking, running, wanting to talk toddler on my hands! Finding time to get on the computer is near impossible unless I am at work and then, well you know how that goes. So please forgive me.
But lets see what I can update you on...So many new things this little man of mine can do. He started walking right after his first birthday, he hopped up and looked at me as if to say "mom, I am gone" and he never looked back. He is now figuring out how to run which is hilarious when he juts out his big belly and takes off. He even flings his hands behind his back like is trying to fly. Hilarious, until he does a face plant into the floor and THEN realizes that it is not a good idea.
He is trying to say more and more words which in turn frusturates him to the point where he bites his hand in frusturation which as I am told is a sign of extreme intelligence, but right now he just looks silly with bite marks all over his hand. He can say "Peesh, Fish, Doggie, Woof, mama, and dada" Smarty pants even has learned a few bits of sign from daycare, I swear I am raising a genius here. He is constantly pointing and trying to ask "Whats this" while moving his tongue in jibberish. God I love that boy.
The BEST new thing he is doing is giving wet sloppy kisses and hugs. He LOVES to hug and when you say "Kiss Kiss" more times then not he will open his mouth and lay a bit fat wet one on your cheek, I just melt, how could you not when a 1 year old can show affection as well as he can. He is deffintly a mamas boy and I hope it stays that way.
Last night we had a conversation and I told him Gavin, when you get bigger remember you love your mama very much. I THINK I saw an eye roll, but I guess ya never know.
I will do my best to update more I promise! With everything going on with him I could write a book about all that he has accomplished!

Birthday Party posted on 06/29/2009
Well Gavins birthday party came and went and what a great great day! The weather was perfect and the sun was out and the kids were able to enjoy the water! It was just a wonderful day, then now as I am writing this it is raining out and we are just so lucky.
Gavin being the good boy that he is had his lunch and enjoyed of course all of the attention, and then afterwards he enjoyed a huge piece of cake all on his own, I am proud to report that he didn't get a bit of cake in his hair, i was surprised. He was tenative until I shoved his hand in there and then oh man, he was ready to lick that frosting off. He even tried to eat with a fork, what a gentleman.
I still cannot believe that had his first birthday party, but it happened and and it was the best time we have had in awhile. Everyone who came chipped in and helped and you could tell they really enjoyed themselves. Its really great to look around and see that most everyone wanted to be there and love you and your family, that has got to be the best thing.
So one party down in the books, now on to thinking about next year. :)

Cheerios and Dogs! posted on 06/15/2009
Gavin had quite the adventure over the weekend, he got to see hundreds of his favorite animal, DOGS! We went to the Humane Society Walk and he got to see dogs galore! Everytime he saw one he liked he would go ooooooo, woof woof. We parked him in the shade and gave him some cheerios and he sat there for about 30 minutes watching the doggies go by. He even got to pet two dogs with sunglasses on, the highlight of his day.
In two weeks Gavin will be having his first birthday party, I am excited and nervous at the same time. Its a HUGE deal to have your baby boy turn 1, something I am not sure I am ready for. He is already getting ready to walk, he can say some words and is just looking older and older, what happened to my newborn baby? He is all grown up and ready to face the world one cheerio at a time.

Obsessed posted on 06/03/2009
OK, so I have become obsessed with buying presents for people for birthdays or anniveraries and saying they are from Gavin. They KNOW that Gavin did not go and get the present, so why do I feel compelled to put his name on everything like he did? I swear its a sickness. Gavins Uncle E is turning the Big 2-8 and instead of saying his present is from Nick and I I say its solely from Gavin, is that odd?
Even before Gavin was born I would put his name on cards etc. People are probably looking at the card saying, Who the heck is Gavin. But I find it really cute and will continue to do it until Gavin is old enough to buy his own presents, and even then I will add his name because he will be a teenager and not remember important dates. So, if you are going to get a card or a gift from me, then just be prepared, its from Gavin. :)
This weekend I am going to do some major one year birthday planning, I have to get the invites out, the food set, etc. That way when it creeps closer I can be in denial that my baby boy is turning one and not worry about how many hamburgers and hot dogs we need. I can just snuggle him and remember the day he was born. Which seems like yestarday.
I was driving into work thinking about the day he was born, its hard to remember it looking back now, but I do remember seeing him for the first time and thinking that he is mine forever. Now I look at him and still say that, but wonder where the time has gone and where that baby face went, he is looking more and more like a big boy as the day goes on and ironically he looks a lot like his Uncle E when he was a baby. Blonde blonde hair, and blue eyed baby. Gotta love it!

Woof Woof posted on 06/02/2009
Its funny, after you have kids you do things you never would think to do. On June 14th there is the Humane Society walk for dogs, while I would have contemplated going before Gavin knowing that it was a good cause, I would have NEVER signed up as quickly as I did now having Gavin.
Gavin LOVES dogs, he will search them out and even utter a "Woof Woof" well that is what I know he is saying, it does come out sounding rather different, but I speak Gavinese. He gets giddy when he spots any dog really. His little legs will pump and he will just smile. So what better thing to do on a Saturday then get some exercise and allow Gavin to woof his little head off. There is going to be hundreds of dogs just wanting to be petted and fawned over by a cute little boy. So we are going to strap him into his jogging stroller (I will be walking, don't let the jogging fool you) and allow Gavin to bask in doggie land.
I also had to make sure at their lunch they are serving HOT DOGS, not only does he love the fur dog, he also loves the hot dog. What a man! So that is what we are doing on June 14th, wish us luck!!!

Grapes posted on 06/01/2009
Well this weekend was a casual one, I got my wisdom teeth out so we were just hanging out enjoying some quiet time. The big discovery of the weekend was grapes for Gavin, he LOVES them. He loves to squish them, slide them around the table and eat them. Last night as you can see from the pictures he thought it would be really funny to put them on his head, he laughed and laughed when we pointed out he had grapes on his head. He kept them on there until I finally had to take them off because they started sticking to his head. Such a ham bone that boy is. He has such a sense of humor.
Today I had to drop him off at his new daycare, he was watching the other baby play and was clinging onto me like a Kola bear. I had to finally let him go, let me tell you, the hardest thing is to hand your one and only boy over to someone who is really just a stranger. He went over to her willingly but when he realized I was leaving he sobbed, I just about lost it myself leaving. I hate hearing my baby cry, luckily I get a short day today so I can "rescue him" Oh well, the life of a working mother.

Where to Begin? posted on 05/27/2009
Its been awhile since I updated on here, sorry! I guess life got in the way.
Whats new, everything! Gavin has been sleeping through the night again, thank goodness, he is so much more enjoyable when he is well rested! But I guess that works for everyone.
Big boy Gavin will be 1 year old in about a month, can you believe it? It seems like time went by way to fast. He is getting soo smart. He will eat everything we do for dinner which makes it great. Last night he had a cheese quesdilla and black beans, he loves mandarian oranges, apples, beans, pasta, pretty much everything oh and HOT DOGS. Omg, that kid can eat a whole hot dog, french fries and then some dessert. Where does he put it all I always wonder. He weighs about 19 pounds now, but eats like a toddler. He cannot get enough food. Silly goose.
He is also starting to take a few un-assisted steps. He took three steps on his own the other day, it was sooo cute to watch him totter around and then fall on his diaper butt with a thud, only to look up at me and make a face like "OWWW" So great. He will be moving and a shaking before we know it.
He is also starting to "talk" when he looks at a dog he says "Woof Woof" he can see a bird and goes BAHHHHHHH you can then go "Whose coming" and like a dog he will stop whatever he is doing and look towards the door. He of course knows the word "no" and can shake his head and will even sometimes listen. Such a trouble maker.
His birthday will be quite the event. A beach party/BBQ. Nothing but the best. He even has a "wish list" on Toysrus.com to let everyone know what he wants for presents. haha.
I promise to update more regularly. As he changes so much from day to day!

Gavins New Toy posted on 04/27/2009
Gavin got a new toy! We spent a total of $20 for a toy that offers hours and hours of fun, literally. We got him a blow up pool and put balls in it and he dive bombs into it and thrashes around and laugs and giggles. We throw balls in and he just squeals. Who knew that a blow up pool and balls could equal a happy boy? I didn't.
He is working on a total of 5 teeth right now, and if we can distract him from the pain for a few minutes it is heaven. He has a hard time with the pain, he gets so mad at his pain he will grunt and shove his fist in his mouth as hard as he can, he has been leaving teeth marks on himself, poor little guy. We have been freezing pacifiers, giving tylenol and trying to distract him by throwing balls at him.
OH and also, we are raising a genius, yes we are. He can wave "Bye Bye" and can also almost say "Hi" and "Uh-oh" So its great. When I leave daycare and he gets a huge smile on his face and waves with his little skinny arms. It really is a wonderful start to the day.
Enjoy the pictures of Gavin in his ball pit, and come on over to play, he loves to show off his diving skills in his pit as well.
