We are Sick NO MORE
posted on 02/06/2009

Man, did that last flu bug really throw us for a loop or what?

It all started with Gavin who got sick last Friday, a week from today although it seems like forever ago. He got sick right after his last bottle for the night, ALLL over me. Poor little guy. So we cleaned him up got him to bed and he was fine, around 11 pm I heard the poor thing throwing up again, so we cleaned him up and the bed and he just kept throwing up. I started getting really scared for the little guy. Just picture a 7 month old baby holding on to a puking bucket like he had a hard night at a fraternity. So I called the doctor and he just told me to watch him and see what happens... Great!!! So I got no sleep that night, he slept with me, in the crib, on the floor, in the bed etc. No more incidents except for poop.

Soooo, then Monday morning 3am rolls around and NIck and I are both in for it. We are sicker then dogs. Luckily mom came around to grab Gavin at 5am (Thanks mom) and Nick and I proceed to be sick allll day and night. Gavin had his first night away from me. Needless to say I had a very hard time being away from my baby boy for the night. Poor thing.

BUT i am happy to say, we are 100% back to health and doing well. But I hope no one else gets this because holy man is it bad. Gavin had his first flu and his first sleepover all within a matter of a few days. Whats next? Driving a car? :)

Poop-tastic
posted on 01/26/2009

How can so much poop come out of something so cute and small? Holy Moly Batman we have poop.

A few days ago I was worried about constipation, now I am wondering what I can feed him to stop him up. He is not sick, he is not over eating, he just has a lot of poop.

Last night around 2:30am on the baby monitor I heard the infamous grunt, I knew something was going to happen so I woke up Daddy. HA. He went in there and all I heard was "Holy Cow" Then I heard him come over and say "Honey, I think he pooped" Great, you know what to do. Nick needs "Assistance" as he calls it when he changes Gavins poopy diaper. He lines up the baby wipes like an assemby line and then goes in. I think he just needs me there to cheer him on, but whatever it was I was not in the cheering mood at 3am smelling a smelly poopy diaper. The only thing that made it bearable was Gavins sweet face sucking on his pacifier break into a huge smile as if to say "Hey mom, lets play" The problem with Gavin if there could be a problem is if he can see both his parents, the lights are on and he is clean and dry it must be time to wake up and play. I left the two boys to it, and lets just say I am really tired this morning. It was Poop-Tastic.

Gavin will be 7 months in a week, how did that happen?

Cover your ears!!!!
posted on 01/23/2009

Gavin has found his screaming voice, holy moly! I thought his last screaming fit was bad, that is mute compared to how it is now. Geesh, he gets excited, angry, happy etc. he will let out this ear splitting scream that will rattle your brains. He of course finds its hilarious and continues to do so. I have tried yelling "GAVINNNNNN" "HOLY MOLYYYYY" "ARGHHH" All to which yields more screams, smiles and laughter. So I guess we will have to ride out this phase just like the last one. Lets just hope this is not permanent. I am not sure my ears can handle it.

Last night it was evident he has mastered his new skill, we were sleeping soundly and all of a sudden I heard him scream, now, usually that would not make me jump but it was his new found ear splitting scream, so I jump out of bed faster then you could say my name, run into his room and he is back asleep again.. What the heck? So I went back to bed and calmed myself down and he did it again this time followed by a cry.. so I am wondering what is going on.. Slowly I go back in this is around 2:30am.. I am not at my best.. and I creep in, he is asleep again.. Ok... My only explanation is my baby boy had a bad dream.. Poor thing. He has had a few of them before but nothing this bad. I am just hoping he has not adopted his fathers bad habit if "Talking" in his sleep, heaven help me if he does. I have would have two talkers at night. He was fine, I patted his butt and told him I loved him and he slept until about 5 am. Honestly, what could a 6 month old really be dreaming that would warrant a scream like that? His bottle not being warmed up enough? Goodness gracious...

So this weekend, we are going to relax and clean the house. THat thing is NEVER clean. I am also going to look at new carpet, we are going to have a mover here VERY soon, he already scoots backwards and our carpet is disgusting, so new carpet time for our mover, shaker and screamer!

Jumperoooo
posted on 01/20/2009

Well, it has been awhile since I have updated on this, there is no excuse really.. Just have been slacking.

So lets see, Gavin went to the doctors the other day and got FOUR Shots. He got his flu shot on top of everything else. Of course he screamed, but about 3 seconds later he had his pacifier and his mommy and the whimpers stopped. He is such a good boy. He weighed in at 16 pounds and 27 inches long. He gained 2 pounds and an inch, so he is growing accordingly and is healthy as could be.

He is now eating three meals a day like a real big boy. He has his breakfast of cereal and formula, his lunch of meat and fruit and then a big dinner of meat, Vegetable and dessert all pureed of course. But he will normally have Turkey and Rice, Carrots or sweet potatoes and then Banana or Vanilla custard which he LOVES. It so funny watching him eat and open his mouth like a baby bird waiting to be fed. He talks with his mouth full, sneezes and generally gets it all over the place, its a good thing we bathe him every night or we would find small pockets of sweet potatoes under his chin in the morning.

One of his favorite toys (Check pictures) Is his Jumperoo, we can put him in that when we are getting ready for the morning, eating dinner or when we need a break. He will jump in that thing and make quite a scene. He loves watching his puppies in it, watching TV or grinning from ear to ear at me while jumping and jumping. We also have nick named it the pooperoo because whenever he gets in it without fail, he has a MAJOR poop that can be smelled from across the room. You can tell when he has done one even before you smell it, he will get this goofy grin on his face and jump jump jump and jump and then look around to see who has noticed. It really is the best toy invented and we all enjoy it. Its highly entertaining and a good laugh to see his little feet going.

Gavin is such a joy in our life, he is sleeping through the night, babbling and following us around the room with his eyes. He is grabbing for me when someone else is holding him and just such a happy and wonderful baby. Everyone who looks at him smiles and comments on how cute he is.. Makes me proud.

I will hopefully be more dedicated to updating this again because everyday brings a new challenge, a new joy and a new "Trick" that Gavin does!

Whats in Store for 2009
posted on 01/05/2009

Well another year has come and gone and now it is 2009. Gavin turned 6 months on January 3rd and has been amazing us everyday. He can now sit on his own, last night we put down a blanket and he started playing with his trucks like a big boy, rolling them around the floor and smiling. He looked like such a big boy doing that I couldn't help but laugh at him as he has a goofy grin and drool coming out of his mouth. He also has started growling, he gets all revved up and gets this look on his face and lets a good growl go. In the car he will growl at me for about 10 minutes and then pass out for a long nap. He is now sitting in a big boy carseat too, facing backwards of course but no more lugging him around in the infant car seat, he sits in his stroller with no assistance and has such good head control.

We have also taken up dancing, He will grab my hand and we will swing and dance and bounce, not only does it give me a good workout he giggles everytime without fail. Now when I pick him up he will grab my thumb so we can dance, he is such a character.

2009 is surely going to bring some exciting times for us. Gavin will be getting a year older, he will continue to "talk" and continue to grow before my very eyes. I am still amazed he is eating solid foods, sucking on biter biscuts and even has two bottom teeth poking out. (Check out pictures)

With 2009 I hope to teach Gavin all there is about the world, continue to make him smile and continue to enjoy every last minute with him, they go by so fast!

Happy New Year!

I wanted to get on here quickly and thank everyone for the gifts and toys that Gavin received for Christams, he is one spoiled boy. I think that Christmas a bit overwhelming for him this year, he fell asleep during Christmas at my moms house and at Nicks parents house, so it was a bit much but he loved the paper and the sound of it crinkling and wanted to put it all in his mouth!! haha

Right now we are trying to find places for his new stuff and dealing with his second tooth popping through. I will have pictures of Christmas up by the end of the week so stay tuned!

Snow, Snow and MORE SNOW
posted on 12/22/2008

Well this weekend we had quite the snow storm. We had about 12 inches of snow at our house and it just kept falling, and wonders of all wonders our snow blower broke. So this morning I just plowed right through that snow like a champion and a sleeping baby in the back.

This weekend was wonderful, we bundled up and took Gavin outside for his first experince with snow (see pictures) We were outside for maybe a total of 10 minutes and he had enough. Once the snowflakes started sticking to his long eyelashes he was ready to head in. He had enough of brushing them off of his face. He was a trooper, we placed him in a big snow bank and took a million pictures and he never flinched. But, right when we got in he and I slept for two hours, nothing like napping on a snowy afternoon.

Gavin helped me bake cookies, and make dinner all weekend, it was so nice spending time together in the kitchen. That is the beauty of a high chair, I can wheel him around the kitchen and enjoy spending time with him right next to me.

In BIGGER news the stupid snow, Gavin got his first tooth. Yes, it finally poked through. See the pictures. It is really cute, he has been having a hard time with that one and now that it is through he is working on another tooth, so no rest for the weary. But when I felt that tooth as he chomped down on my finger I almost cried, my boy is no longer a baby anymore. It is so cute. A little whitehead poking through, I can't wait until it really comes through and we can call him snaggle tooth!

Christmas is in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hungry Babies and Christmas Trees
posted on 12/15/2008

Well this weekend we finally got our christmas tree (see photos) It was fun, we drove out there went to find our tree and found them within 2 minutes. It was perfect, round, and cute. So we chopped it down. Before we went to get our tree I had this vision of Gavin in his snow suit, Nick cutting down the tree and then taking a picture of the cute family that we are standing in a tree farm for Gavins first time, well, he fell asleep on the way there and continued to sleep until we got home, so I settled for Gavin pictures in front of a decorated tree. He loves that thing, we put him in is pooperoo (Names because every time he gets in it poops haha) and he watches the lights on the tree and tries to grab the tree. His new trick, wanting to grab EVERYTHING we have. I was reading a magazine, he decided it was his magazine and proceeds to put it in his mouth. I try to take it away and he screams and cries. Temper tantrums starting at 5.5 months, oh boy!

Last night Gavin slept through the night for the first time in a week, the culprit, no not the tree lights, it was hunger. Poor little guy. I just couldn't fathom that he would be SOO hungry, but last night I decided to try to feed him more then I have been in the past. He is now eating cereal, and apple sauce for dinner and I have been waiting to feed him a bottle until bed after dinner. Well last night I fed him his cereal, topped him off with a 6-7 ounce bottle, two hours later he was screaming for more food so he ate ANOTHER 8 ounce bottle and then at 8pm when we had no power he topped off another 8 oz bottle, the result a SOUNDLESS night sleep. I heard him maybe once for 5 minutes and he slept from 8:30pm-5:00am. Yes, we have a growing boy on our hands. So this morning I fed him breakfast of cereal and apple sauce and then he proceeded to drink a 7 ounce bottle. So I guess he is really growing and he is getting to the point now where he can eat baby food, I am SOO excited. Last night we actually got sweet potatoes and peas at the grocery store for our growing boy!!!!

Well, this is the last week before christmas, YESSSSSSSSSSS! I am so excited to spend it with my family. Times are a changing and I couldn't be more excited!
