still here!
posted on 08/18/2008

We are still here and doing ok.  It's been a pretty stressful last 3 weeks as we've battled mastitis, thrush, and nursing issues.  The babies are now 9 weeks old or 5 days old adjusted.  So we can look forward to another 6-8 weeks of nursing issues and then hopefully relief!

The babies are getting pretty big, Ethan's 7 1/2 lbs and Abby's 6 1/2 lbs.  They look around a lot more alertly now, but still not quite ready to look us in the eye much.  They enjoy tummy time more now and like looking around at colorful things or light.  Light is very popular in our house.

Grammie just left us again and we are very sad.  But very grateful that she was able to come stay with us for so long.  Very, very helpful.  Not sure if I'd still be sane if not for her =)

So unfortunately we have some sad news.  This past year has been pretty devastating for us financially.  All well worth it because of these beautiful babies, but unexpected and difficult all the same.  Therefore we are probably going to have to be making a move in the very near future to return to the life sucking but very profitable oil fields.  Hopefully we will be back and we are still working on a miracle that would enable us to stay.  We have loved living back in the Northwest and hope that this is not the end of it for us.  Anyhow, I thought I'd let everyone know so those of you up here have an opportunity to come see these babies if you'd like to.  We'll keep you posted!

Wow those babies are really looking good! You two are doing a great job. I hope you get to stay where you want, but those bills do pile up on us don't they? Thanks for the update.

No one can know how hard this first month has been on you physically, even those of us who have had the same issues like mastitis and thrush. We were able to put the one baby in bed and nurse our way through it. Not an option for you with 2. I'm sure that not only will the Lord carry you through this time but also the joy and love and peace that He has given you because of these 2 precious babies.
I guess few of us in Colorado except your parents and sibs can feel the connection to the Northwest that you have. We miss you and would love to have you here for a time. Remember, there are good and bad to deal with no matter where we are at geographically. I guess that is why God said "Be content in whatever state you are in". Physical, financial, relationship or job. You will know what is right for you and we will all love and support whatever you decide.

Hi Amanda:
I am sorry to hear that you are battling the issues you've described and I hope it gets better for you all! I am also very sad to hear that you most likely will be moving away = ( Haven't been able to come visit yet, had my sister in from out of state and we're dealing with a lot of significant health issues in Roman lately = ( I do hope to meet your babies before you leave. Please keep me updated...Miss you!

I'm so happy to hear that they are growing so big (well, relatively of course) and doing well! So sad about the probable need for a move so soon after making it back up here! Make sure to keep updates on that, I'd love to come visit you even to drive down for a day just to say hi and hug you and see your beautiful little ones!
