I Miss My Boy

Today was a sad day for our family. We had to put our beautiful dog, Cleffie, down. He was, in my opinion, unjustly registered as a potentially aggressive dog by the city. That meant that it would have cost nearly $800 a year to keep him, and his quality of life would have gone way down. He wouldn't have even been allowed to run free in our fenced in back yard, he would have had to be confined to a locked kennel. So with his various health problems, we decided this was the best option for our family and for him.
We all miss him dearly. Elise and I uesed to joke, and I'd pet him and say, "my boy," then Elise would say, "No, my boy." Now that he's gone Elise sure does miss "her boy."

Tonight we had a thunder storm. It was the first one that I had ever heard. At first I looked scared and said, "Oh," as I pointed to the window. Mommy told me the sound I heard was called thunder, and then I corrected her and said, "No, Drum." I'm pretty sure someone was just banging a big drum outside of our house, I don't know what this thunder stuff is that Mommy kept talking about.

Today Mommy taught me all about circles. I can say the word, identify them, and draw them. Instead of coloring in my color books, I used them to practice drawing my circles. In fact I was so excited about my circles I had to call my Nonnie and tell her all about them! She seemed pretty excited too, I wonder if it was the first time she had learned about them too?

Elise was coloring in her color book with her crayons and all of a sudden she came up to me and said, "No work, no work," in a very sad and urgent tone. In her hand she held up to me a white crayon. She was convinced that it was defective because it wouldn't color on her white paper.

Today, Daddy took out his Trombone to practice and it looked like fun. So I went up to him and said, "I wanna blow." So Daddy let me try. At first I only blew air through it and it didn't make a sound. Then Daddy and Mommy showed me how to buzz my lips and when I tried again I made a good sound! I did it several times in a row. But you guessed it, I can't hold the instrument by myself yet...it's still bigger than I am!

Hey, I just wanted you to know that over the next few days I'll be putting up new ultrasound pictures of the critter....err...I mean, my little brother. If you want to see them, just look in the "My Little Sibling" picture gallary.

Hey today I got to go with Daddy and Nonnie to see Mommy have an ultrasound. That means we got to see my little brother on the screen. The grown ups were much more amused by it than I was. I just wanted to color my pictures.

Today when the alarm clock went off at 6:00am and it was time to get up and get ready for the day, Elise moaned, "NO." as she turned over to go back to sleep. All I could think was, yup, that's my girl. At least she has the honesty to vocalize what I was thinking.
