I have this Bible song stuck in my head...

"I'm happy today, oh yes, I'm happy today. In Jesus Christ I'm happy today..."

I guess that happens when you sing songs to your little one. I even find myself talking to adults in my high-pitched "kiddie voice." They just look at me funny, I have to STOP doing that!

Jailyn must be going through another growth spurt because she has been very sleepy this week. She is sleeping 5 and 6 hours at a time and taking 5+ ounce bottles! And, she is still sleeping all night long. It is kind of nice though because I have been able to get a lot of stuff done, so I'm not complaining. I have also noticed she gets VERY fussy at night. Yesterday, we took her outside for a walk and she was so calm and peaceful! However, as soon as we got back in the house she started up her fussing again. Blake and I agree that we enjoy "morning Jailyn" much better than "evening Jailyn." She is all smiles and giggles in the morning Smile I haven't had the chance to weigh her since her doctors appointment a couple of weeks ago, she is so sleepy and I hate to wake her when she is that peaceful just to weigh her. I'm pretty sure she is 12 pounds or pretty close to it.

The doctor said she is growing according to schedule and she looks very healthy! Thank you Lord! She no longer has to wear her brace all the time. Just at night until July 6th when we are rid of it for good. Then, when she starts walking we have to take her in for a check-up to make sure everything still looks good. But that won't be for a while...

Blake and I are also doing well. We have totally lost our identities though. When people come up to us it's always, "where's the baby?" No "hi" for us. That's ok I don't mind giving her the attention Wink Blake has been VERY busy at work! It is that time of the year when it seems he works 24 hours a day. He is ready for a break and so we are going to Galveston for a long weekend on our anniversary next month. It will be the first time we are away from Jailyn! I hope I can do it...

Anyway, check out the rest of the site...I updated everything and even added some videos for you to watch. The link to the newborn pictures are on the home page and I even put a few in the photos section. Also, don't forget to vote on the new poll.

Until next time...all our love

7 Weeks Old!
posted on 05/22/2008

Today marks Jailyn's 7th week of life and I can't believe how fast it has come!

Health Update: Jailyn is still wearing her harness 24 hours a day. Tomorrow we have an appointment with Dr. Epps to adjust the harness. She is growing like a weed, already weighing in at 9 lbs. 4 oz.! On June 5th, Jailyn has her 2 month appointment and she will get her shots and on June 6th she will get another ultrasound to determine if she needs to continue to wear the harness. We are praying for a normal ultrasound so she doesn't have to wear the harness around the clock anymore.

Blake and I are doing very well and are finally getting adjusted to Jailyn's hours. She is pretty good about sleeping through the night but she does still have one late feeding for now. She was sleeping in her car seat during the night but I think we have arranged the bassinet to be more comfortable for her and she has been sleeping in it again.

Jailyn has been on formula only for about two weeks now and she seems to have adjusted completely to it. We are using the Similac brand and I have noticed that she is a bit more gassy than she was on breast milk; but, that has to do with all the bubbles in the formula. She can burp really LOUD, that's for sure! She definitely takes after her Daddy when it comes to burping ;)

Anyway, I added some new pictures to the photos section! We wish everyone a great Memorial Day weekend!

Jailyn is home!

We are enjoying every minute of our new little bundle of joy! The late nights, poopy diapers and delirium from no sleep is all worth having her look up at you and crack a little smile! We love her so very much. Darla, Gizmo and Cloey are so curious about her and want to sniff her to death. They are also very protective of her; every time she cries they are right there making "crying" noises too. It is kind of cute.

Friday we have an appointment with the Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. He is going to take a look at the Ultrasound films to let us know how serious her Congenital Hip Dysplasia (CHD) is and what steps to take. Please keep us in your prayers!

Also, her Jaundice level has gone down to a normal level for her age and weight. Dr. Arthur (her pediatrician) wants us to come in on Friday as well and have another bilirubin test done to make sure the levels are continuing to decrease. We are exposing her to natural light for about 20 minutes every day and it seems to be doing some good.

We appreciate all of the phone calls, cards and visits from everyone. Things have been pretty crazy around here and I'm sorry if I haven't called you back or responded to your email. I'm slowly catching up.

Well, Jailyn is awake and ready to eat! Have a great weekend! We love y'all

Week 36
posted on 03/27/2008

Things seem to be taking off on the inside and I am definitely feeling some of the aches and pains that go along with it. My first vaginal exam revealed that I am 75% effaced, the baby's head is at a -2 station and I am very close to 1 cm dilated! Although the doctor is unable to predict from here how long it will be before our little one is out (could be days or weeks), the process has begun!

I'm still not feeling any contractions yet (I think) but my pelvic area is very sore. The doctor said this is due to the baby moving down farther in to my pelvis and loosening up the joints. My blood pressure is good (122/66) and they could tell from my urine sample that I have been over-indulging in the sugar...ooops!  Since the baby is dropping, the doc says the fundal measurements aren't important anymore and really aren't indicative of anything but her dropping. She measured anyway and said that it was about 34 or 35 cm so the baby has definitely begun her descent (apparently, the number lessens when the baby begins to drop down). All-in-all Mom and baby received a clean bill of health. Now, we wait until our appointment next week to see if there are any changes.

NOW is the time to finalize with me whether you want to be on the Labor Call List. Don't forget to let me know what number you want us to use.

Maybe I'll do some walking to speed this process along...Wink

The appointment today went well. All vitals are good except for some excess sugar in my urine. Now I have to be on antibiotics for a week...ugh Undecided

The baby has dropped!! I'm pretty excited about this because now I can breathe a little easier. But, my poor bladder is being squished. I've never had to get up so many times in one night to use the bathroom. It's good practice for when our little one gets here. Everything is falling in to place for the big day!

Doctor estimates baby is around 5 pounds! Right on schedule...won't be too much longer!

I put some recent pictures of me in the "Pregnancy Pictures" album. No laughing! Tongue out

**Don't forget to let me know if you wish to be on the Labor Call List (if you already did, disregard this)**

Week 33
posted on 03/07/2008

I am now seeing the doc weekly--every Thursday. The appointment went very well and all is moving according to plan. I think we waited the longest we've ever waited and I was starving when we finally got out of there! As most of you know the doctor told me that she would let me go 10 days past my due date of April 24th. So, yesterday I asked her if we could make sure I didn't go in to the month of May, that I really wanted the baby to be born in April...she said YES!  I am so happy Smile

April's birthstone is Diamond! April's flower is Sweet Pea! Just lovely...

Well, I FINALLY did it...I had been doing so good but I guess it had to end sometime. I had my first "crash and burn" since I have been pregnant. You always hear stories about how your center of gravity changes when you get pregnant and how you have to be extra careful about making sure not to trip over things. Well, I was walking to the car Sunday after church was over, in shoes I shouldn't have been wearing (yes, they were wedged heels), and all of a sudden my ankle just bent to the side and down I went on all fours! It was so graceful, as you can imagine. Luckily, I was able to break my fall with my arms and knees instead of my belly. My arm is pretty scratched up and my knee has a big "strawberry" (as Blake likes to call it) on it. But mom and baby went to the doctor yesterday and were given a clean bill of health (well, maybe all clean except for my pride). Needless to say, Blake and I are going to get me some FLAT dress shoes to wear the remainder of the pregnancy ;)

As far as the baby's name goes....drumroll please...we have decided we will choose it AFTER she is born. We have a list that we like but we really want to see her first and make sure we give her the PERFECT name. So, the suspense continues...

Ultrasound

The nursery is done! I posted more pictures in the nursery section, so you'll have to go there to see them ;) We also discovered that the size of the room makes it very hard to get good pictures, so bear with what we have! Blake did a really great job stenciling and hanging things up! Thanks hon!

We also had a great Cypress shower! I also posted some pictures from that shower in the photos section! I know I keep saying this, but it is so very true and I'm going to say it again: We are so very blessed to have such an amazing Christian family. The kindness and selflessness just amazes me! I am in awe! We love you all so much :)

We had an ultrasound done at the doctors office on Wednesday. I just love getting to look at our little darling. She is getting so big! She weighed in at 4 lbs, 1 ounce! They predicted that by her birth she will be around 7 1/2 pounds...guess we will see. She has the cutest little nose I've ever seen and she is constantly sucking on her fingers or the placenta. She also had her legs crossed at her ankles and bent back with her head WAY down in my pelvis. She is so far down that the ultrasound tech was hitting my bone trying to see her! It didn't look very comfortable at all, but she has been in this position for at least 4 weeks, so I guess it is to her :) I put the picture of her in the pregnancy section (picture is labeled 32 weeks). It takes a second to locate what you are looking for, but you can see the top of her head, her cute little nose and her top lip. You can also notice her adorable little pudgy cheeks ;) If you can't see it, you don't have "the gift"  LOL  ;)

 8 more weeks!!

Pregnancy Update--Week 31
posted on 02/21/2008

Only 9 more weeks to go, unless our little angel wants to make her entrance early!   Wink

We had a good doctor visit today. Everything is progressing as normal. I'm still measuring a week ahead of my projected due date, so we just might see her early. The doctor said that she feels like an average size (sigh of relief). We go next Wednesday to do an ultrasound and get her approximate weight and length so we will know more then. (She is gaining about 1/2 a pound a week now.) But, I'm not getting too set on her coming early because Dr. Kirkman said that the first one's like to hang out in their momma's past the due dates. We shall see...

Blake is finishing up the stenciling in the nursery this weekend, so I should have some pictures up next week sometime!

My Cypress shower is tomorrow and I am so excited to see everyone and play in some more baby stuff! My nesting instincts have definitely set in, poor Blake. I have him doing all kinds of stuff around here. He is a good sport though and does so much. Pretty soon I will start getting my hospital bag ready for the "Big Day."   *Bites fingernails*

Some of you are probably wondering about the Peek A Baby 3D ultrasound and how it went. Well, it didn't go so well. While at the doctor's office yesterday she told us the baby's head was still down and she tried to move her with no success. We went to our FOURTH appointment and just couldn't see all of her (she seems to really like hiding low and behind the placenta and wall). So, we just got our money back. The ultrasound tech told us that if she hasn't moved by now, she probably isn't going to. So, we folded. The tech gave me some of the pics and recordings from the previous trys and I have those in the picture section if you want to look. I can't get the videos to work for some reason, so pictures will have to do for now.

Guess that is all for this 2 weeks! Thanks for checking in...Smile
