Joshie's 2 y.o. well baby appt.
posted on 09/01/2009

He is in the 25-50% for both height and weight.  He currently weighs 26 lb. 13 oz. and is 34.25 inches long.  He said "Hurry up doctor!" after I said it (we waited a long time) and "Hi doctor" when he did finally come in.

Joshie is going to start part time daycare at Bishop Hogan this Thursday; we are all anxious to see how he will get along and Mommy is looking forward to some time to herself!  She has errands to run and a house to clean!  Although the cleaning lady is coming tomorrow it is still pretty messy for her 2 hours she cleans....I'll probably have to finish up on Thursday.  Mommy Claire is coming for the weekend and we have a picnic planned!

Happy Labor Day everyone!

Blessings, Michelle

Enjoy the pictures...I finally was able to get them uploaded.  I'm working on making some hard copies to make Joshie his own little photo album; he loves looking at pictures and pointing to people/things and naming them.

We also want to say thank you to Grandpa Baskett, who gave both Brad and Joshie a monetary contribution to their college bound accounts...thank you Grandpa!

Blessings, Michelle

Joshie is a busy, busy boy these days!
posted on 08/24/2009

You have to have stamina to keep up with him!  Still having trouble uploading pics; plan to take the digital camera's memory card in to the WalMart photo center and try to get the pictures on disc as well as hard copies for the little photo album I want to make for him.  He loves Grandpa and Grandma Kirkland's little photo album they have with pictures of him from infant to now; he looks at the pictures, points people out with correct titles and calls himself "Joshie".

Some new things he is doing:  he loves his new Magna Doodle, he loves to erase anything we put on it anyway, ha!; he can jump now but not very high; his vocabulary rivals that of a kindergartner, he is picking up about 5 new words/day; his absolute favorite song is "Play That Funky Music" he asks for it every time we go in the car!  He loves spending time with his same age friend, Aaron and Aaron's older sister Chasity.  Chasity babysits for us and as soon as she gets here, Joshie tells me bye bye (tries to get rid of me)!  He can sing his ABC's, Twinkle Little Star, he loves the rock group Disturbed.

We tried some potty type things but he just isn't ready.  One sign of readiness is staying dry after sleeping, can't do that yet.  Another sign?  Dressing/undressing himself, nope!  Another sign?  Sitting still for  a couple minutes...you've got to be kidding, check that off too.  Not ready.  Will try again in a couple months.

Well, I'll try to get some pics uploaded after I get thrm from WalMart...until then...

Blessings to all, Michelle

Trouble with digital camera
posted on 07/30/2009

Having trouble getting some pictures of Joshie's bday celebration on here; don't worry once I get the kinks out the  pics will come.

Joshie is growing so fast; his 2 year old checkup isn't until the end of August.  His vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds.  He can sing his ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, We Will Rock You, several Elmo songs.  He can count to 20 in English, to 10 in Spanish and we are starting some basic sign language as Mommy wants to learn too.  He just started jumping a couple of days ago.  He still isn't very into books, but once he settles himself a bit, I imagine he will grow to love them.  We haven't started potty training yet...I plan to wait just a few months longer on that one.

Brad went to a fitness camp this summer for a month; we missed him awfully but he lost 13 lbs. and so far since being home since mid July he has lost another 3 lbs.  We are very proud of him!

Dale is still trucking, Michelle is still nursing...gonna go try again on those pics now; I may have to upload them to a disc then try again...........

Happy Easter everyone!

I got Joshie some chocolate bunnies, will let him eat one tomorrow and take some pics to put on here.  He should be nice and wound up afterwards.  He has been sick with sinus infection and he threw up 3 times 2 nights ago and has had a low grade temp.  He is currently on antibiotics.

"Mommy Claire"is here visiting and Joshie is trying hard to say what sounds like "Mommy Claire" and we've enjoyed her visit.  Will write more later...need my beauty sleep!

Upcoming Easter holiday
posted on 03/31/2009

We went to St. Joe today to Sears and had pictures taken for Easter.  I have uploaded most of the best ones to this totsite and just a word to the grandparents, aunts, uncles, neices, and close friends....you will be getting a hard copy in a frame of your favorite ones!  They won't be here til April 14th....so you must be patient.  But we just had to give you a preview.

We've all had the flu here by the way, both upper respiratory and gastro-intestinal bugs and am praying everyone stays well.  Daddy (Dale) learned a couple weeks ago that you don't feed a toddler hot dogs and fruit punch, then spin them around in the air.  You can just imagine what happened afterwards and Mommy (me) was very glad that we bought extra heavy duty stain resistant furniture.

Everyone is well now, knock wood....hope you enjoy the pictures and everyone have a happy Easter...........

Blessings, Michelle

Joshie's first hair cut
posted on 03/01/2009

Yesterday we traveled to St. Joseph MO so Joshie could get his hair cut.  The lady that cut it has biracial kids herself so we were glad to have an expert, LOL!  She sold me some hair care for ethnic hair products that look easy; will have to experiment.  He fussed a little but Daddy distracted him with a squirt bottle and some combs.  Then we went to eat at Carlos O'Kelly's...Joshie had chicken strips and fries; he ate really well.  Then we went to the pet store where all the ferrets were "sleepin?" according to Joshie.  Brad got a new pair of shoes.  Today we are just relaxing and trying to catch up on laundry.

I've been taking water aerobics at the Y and Joshie goes to the YMCA's babysitter.  The first few times he cried the whole time but now he walks in like he owns the place; it is so cute to watch him grow.  He says new words every day!

Things Joshie has said or is saying now
posted on 02/23/2009

1-16-09, 18 mos.   Today, we saw a yellow school bus and Joshie says "Bus!"  Then he said, "Brad?"  He seems to know that Bradley gets off the bus, but thinks that all school buses contain Bradley!  Heehee.

1-28-09 18 mos. 3 weeks:  Joshie had to get blood drawn today.  The lab tech drew 3 tubes of blood from his arm and he didn't fuss or shed a single tear!

2-1-09 18 mos. 4 weeks:  I had a drink from KFC and  the cup had a picture of Col. Sanders on it and Joshie pointed to him and said "Daddy?"  How many think Dale resembles old Col. Sanders????

2-1-09:  Last week, Joshie said his first noun/verb sentence:  "Daddy go bye-bye?" And when he jumped off the coffee table (nearly giving me a heart attack), he got up and said, "I fall".

2-4-09:  Joshie pointed to a picture of Wynona Judd and said "Namaw", then "Go bye bye, see Namaw?"

2-17-09 Happy BDAY BRAD!  The big 12!

2-18-09:  We were sitting in the car and I just happened to say "Michael Joshie Dale" to which Joshie said "Kirkland?"  Just as plain as day!

2-23-09:  Joshie is now saying "What's that?"  His Auntie Dana started it (just got the whole story tonight).  Joshie and Aunt Dana were sitting alone in the Jeep and the Jeep makes some funny sounds after the key is off and Aunt Dana says to Joshie "What's that, Joshie?"  So she started that!

2-24-09:  We've been going to the YMCA twice a week for Mommy's swim/water aerobics class and Joshie always goes to the Y's sitter.  He no longer cries for the sitter now, just goes right in like he owns the place and gets toys out to play with.  He is my good little man!
