Not What I Wanted To Hear!
posted on 11/29/2007

So we finally have some news from our agency and it is not what we were expecting nor what we were wanting to hear but................ it is what it is!

For now, all attention is being focused on getting the two groups that currently have referrals through courts successfully and travel arrangements for the first group before the incountry rep will turn his attention to referrals again.

The first group has another court date on December 7th and the second group must wait for the first group to pass court before they can be given their court date.  Once the first group has successful court hearings, then travel arrangements can be made for those families.  What this means as far as time.......we have no concrete answers but as far as we (and other YG members) can determine, this could be late January or maybe even February before they resume referrals for us waiting families. We will still pray that it is sooner!

There have been some discrepencies as far as how many children the  transition home holds so I will try to find out for sure the true numbers.  We have seen numbers between 14-18 and that is too much of a gap for me.  There are currently 12 children in the home and I would think that if there is room for 16-18 children in the home, which is what we were told,  then there should be 16-18 children there.  They are fully staffed with
12 nannies who work on rotating shifts and also a cook, guard and nurse  (this came directly from Laurel) Not sure what the reason is for not keeping the home at capacity but this will be something we will also be asking about.

So....this is where we are and we really have no idea how long we will be in this holding pattern.  We will continue to pray for the court hearings on Dec 7th that all goes well and the first group of families can travel very very soon to pick up their children.  They received their referrals on October 3rd.

As we have said before, we know that God's timing is perfect and even though we don't know "why" things are happening this way, it is out of our hands and only God knows how long it will be so, as hard as it is, we must trust that there is a reason and know that God is in control of it all!

It is very difficult, as the rationale doesn't seem...well...rational. But, it is comforting to know we're all in this together. And, I have faith that the Lord is cover all of us with his grace & mercy!

Shoot me an email if you want to grump. :) Or, you can read my blog where you can commiserate with me...I grump a fair amount there. :)

Blessings,
Erica

Best of luck with a referral sooner than later! I know this must be nerve-wracking!

Melissa, How frustrating! I'm sorry it wasn't the news you were hoping for. I'm happy to see they are at least communicating with y'all. I think it's easier to know *something*, even if it's not what you wanted to hear, than to just *not know*. We continue to pray and hope along with you.

Sorry to hear this. I hope all goes well with the court date and things start moving again. Seems like I'm hearing a lot about the court slow down. I hope you hear something soon.
