How time flies! posted on 09/14/2007
Wow! I am 7 months old today! How time flies! You are probably wondering what this little 7 month old girl is up to. School is going very well. We do all sorts of fun activities, including exploring motion, playing with water, reading books, and socializing. They feed me well and make sure I take a couple naps. I'm really enjoying it. I like to "talk" alot, though no one seems to understand me. At least they listen well! Within a couple days of starting school I learned to sit up on my own. It has made life so much easier because I can sit up to play and eat. We've moved on to new types of toys that I can manipulate better. I haven't learned to crawl yet, but Mommy doesn't think it will be too much longer. Right now I'm learning to "scoot" a little bit. Last week I had a stuffy nose. I'm getting over it now, but it's been very annoying to have people playing with my nose all the time. It's been getting irritated from the attention. I also got a new toy yesterday - a jumper! It is a lot of fun. Mommy wanted me to practice being on my feet and playing around so I can get my legs stronger to eventually walk.

First Day of School! posted on 08/28/2007
Last week I had my first day of school!
I go to school on Daddy's Campus, at Miami Dade College. They have an Early Childcare Center that starts children as young as 6 weeks! I have a small class of 5 students, including me. We read books and play and take naps. I get daily reports that tell Mommy and Daddy what we did that day, and how well I ate. It's fun, but I miss having Mommy and Daddy around all day. Sometimes Daddy comes to see me during his lunch time, and we play together or have a bottle.

My Baptism posted on 08/15/2007
I never did get around to writing about my baptism. It went pretty well.... err... ummm.... Okay, okay, so I cried through the entire thing! But I couldn't help it. I was very tired, it was past my naptime, and people kept touching me - not to mention making me take a bath! There were a lot of people that attended the ceremony. People came from as far as Orlando, Louisiana, and Texas to celebrate with us. Uncle Philippe is my Godfather, and Jessica is my Godmother. They held me for the whole ceremony. There were lots of prayers, and then I had a bath and got dressed again. We had candles and incense and lots of singing. Afterward, we went to Grammy Sara and Grampy Riad's for a big party. I got held by lots of people and enjoyed it! I also got lots of presents. Thank you to everyone! Be sure to check out my baptism pictures to see how the ceremony went.

Razzberries and Squash posted on 07/26/2007
Mommy got a little behind on typing, so do we have some catching up to do! My latest accomplishment is... blowing razzberries. It took me a little while to get this skill down. I started on July 4 by learning to blow air through my lips. This scared Mommy a little because at first the air wasn't coming out. I would try, but I couldn't quite figure it out. Mommy got scared and called Daddy, telling him I wasn't breathing. After I'd done this a couple times she realized what I was doing and quit panicking. So after a couple days, I got down the air thing. Then I learned to purse my lips while blowing the air, resulting in a buzzing sound. Finally, I added the tongue to the whole thing so I could razzberry! It's a lot of fun! Though, for some reason, Mommy and Daddy don't like me to do it while I'm eating. Speaking of eating, I've gotten quite a repetoire down. I like green beans and squash and sweet potatoes and carrots. I also like apples and pears. I didn't care much for sweet peas, bananas, or peaches. Mommy and Daddy think this is because they are strong-smelling foods. Overall, I think squash is my favorite. I'm also trying to learn to feed myself. I have some small bottles - 2 and 4 ounce sizes - that I can hold for very short periods of time. And I keep trying to grab the spoon from Mommy and Daddy when they feed me, though I usually end up making a mess in that endeavor.

My First Disney Trip! posted on 07/02/2007
We went to Orlando this weekend and I had my first trip to Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom! Even though I'm very small I had a lot of fun! We went late so the sun wasn't quite so hot and so I wouldn't get tired out from a full day. My first ride was the monorail. I sat on Daddy's lap and watched the other people in our car. When we got to the park we met up with Alan and Shannon. They gave me a "My First trip" pin to commemorate the experience. We made sure we checked out the Baby Station and cooled off for a few minutes. Then it was right to the rides! We went to Pirates of the Caribbean first because Mommy and Daddy said it had changed and they wanted to see the updated ride. I personally didn't notice anything new. The ride was a little dark for me, but I did like the blue lighting. Then we tried to go to The Haunted Mansion, but it is closed for the summer for renovations. So we headed to Fantasyland. That area is my favorite! We went on It's a Small World, where everything was really bright and everyone sang and danced! I liked that ride a lot. Then we went to Pooh's Playful Spot - I'm still a little too small to play there, but I can't wait until I am big enough to try it! Instead of playing we went over to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride, where we bounced with Tigger and I learned about Heffalumps and Woozles. I took a little nap for a while, and then we went over to Mickey's Toontown Fair so I could meet Mickey! Wow! He's even bigger than I imagined! We took a little break from walking to see Philharmagic. Everyone said it was really cool, but I had a little difficulty focusing on it since it was in 3-D and I am too small for the glasses. The music was good, though! Finally, we took a little spin on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Then we left the park and went home to bed. Since I had taken several naps I didn't really want to go to bed and played by myself for a while before dozing off, despite the fact it was WAY past my bedtime. On Sunday, we had a big breakfast and the adults packed up while I watched Baby Mozart. Then we all went to Downtown Disney. Seeing how much I liked the heffalumps in the Winnie the Pooh ride, Daddy picked me up a purple stuffed heffalump. I like it a lot because it is pretty and silly and moves well! It also has lots of pieces that stick out here and there that I can chew on! It might be my new favorite toy. We also picked up some pins - Alan and Shannon bought me a fancy pin that says "My First Visit" as a keepsake. All in all it was a good trip. Mommy and Daddy say I was a very good baby - I didn't cry at all at the park - and I had lots of fun! I can't wait until I'm a little older so I can do more rides and run around with the other kids!

We went to the doctor's today for my 4 month appointment. The doctor says I'm doing really well. I am 13 pounds, 7 ounces and 26 inches long, with a head circumference of 16. That puts me a just a pinch above average in all categories for my age. The doctor also said Mommy and Daddy could start giving me food! We are starting with rice cereal, and then moving on from there in a couple weeks. I've been eagerly anticipating this, watching Mommy and Daddy eat like a hawk for a while now. Of course, then the nurse came and stuck my leg with those needles again. They always tell me this is for my own good - they call it "vaccines" - but it still hurts a lot. On the way home we went to Babies R' Us and got a Bumbo and cereal. The Bumbo is a little chair that lets me sit up unassisted, even though I'm not big enough to really do it on my own. And when we got home Daddy mixed me up some cereal, sat me in the Bumbo, and fed me while Mommy took some pictures. It was great! I could really get used to this! It makes me feel very grown up! All in all, it was a very good day, though I could have done without the needles. By the way, in all the excitement over Father's Day, I forgot to tell everyone I rolled over onto my belly all by myself on June 14, the day I turned 4 months old! See? I really am growing up!

Happy Father's Day! Mommy and I went to get pictures done as a surprise for Daddy for Father's Day. I think he liked his present very much! Now that he's gotten his present you can view the pictures in my photo gallery. We went to Uncle Philippe's for a Father's Day luncheon. Even though I've been there before, for the first time I really noticed my cousins and enjoyed watching Little Philippe play. He smiled at me a lot and we had fun.

Mommy and I are sitting home in the middle of a very nasty thunderstorm right now. We were napping - that is me, Mommy, and both kitties - until a loud lightning strike came down nearby frightening Cleo and making us jump. The electric has flickered twice so Mommy is unwilling to turn on the TV. Since we can use the laptop for updating the site, computers are okay!
