New website! posted on 10/20/2008
I am going to start "blogging" about the babies and posting pictures on a different website so check it out if you are interested. So far there isn't much on there but I'll be updating as I get time. I found out that at the end of this month this site will start charging so I'm just going to move over to a blog site. The new web address is:

More pictures! posted on 10/20/2008
Well, we are all feeling much better today and even ventured out to get pictures made. We love, love the ones Mandy Johnson did and can't wait to see all of them, but we can't really afford to purchase many of them from her and really wanted to have some newborn professional photos, so we went to Sears. We still want to find a way (come on housing market) to get some of those adorable quintessential newborn photos that Mandy took, so we got these done with "outfits." I originally intended to get them made with holiday outfits on but the ones we have don't fit them yet and I couldn't really find any out and about that I loved.
Here are some of the pics from today - spoiler alert - some of these will be Christmas presents for some of you! I should probably not post them and save them as a surprise, but I have NEVER been good with surprises and I just can't wait to share.
This one is so sweet, it looks like they are holding hands! We couldn't get Katie to wake up for anything and then of course she has been awake and alert and happy ever since we left, I guess that is just how it goes. I tried to schedule it for a time when they are usually both awake, but as they often do they switched up their schedule yet again.

He captured Katie's semi-smile!

My handsome boy was interested in all that was going on but he wouldn't "smile."

and this one is how they often are - couldn't resist getting him to go ahead and take one of these since most of the time during the session we were waiting for one of them to stop doing this!

I can't sign off on that note though - they were sweet a lot of the time too!

Well, just when it seems that the babies are getting better I have started to feel like crap. Sore throat, headache, tired (more so than usual) - sounds like a cold to me (that sucks)! I hope I don't give it to Tyler and Katie, but as you can imagine with two of them it is impossible for me not to handle them and do things that may pass along germs. I am trying to increase their breastmilk intake in hopes that it will give them the antibodies they need to stave it off, but I have been unsuccesful to this point increasing the amount so I have no idea why I think it will suddenly work now. I just really, really hope that Lance avoids it, (I can say this since I know he doesn't read this) because the absolute last thing I need around here is a third baby, not to mention the lack of help that having him laid out would create.
All in all though everyone is doing good. Tyler and Katie are still full tilt in the "witching hours" and in fact I am sitting here now listing to Tyler scream his head off anytime I try to put him anywhere but in my arms (I really do hope the "experts" are right that they can't be spoiled before 3 months). They have started to like baths better and are still sleeping well. In fact, Katie has stopped waking up automatically for the 2:00 AM feeding. We are still making her eat then because she can't go much longer than that but it gives me hope that at 12 weeks or so she may be able to make it through the night. When both of them are 10 pounds or at 3 months we are going to start trying to wean them off the middle of the night feeding - I can't wait but I already know it will scare me to death - I have been up multiple times in the night since they have been sick because it sounds like they are having trouble breathing, I can't imagine what I will be like when they don't make noise!
It is bathtime now so we are going to make our way upstairs - I hope to have more pictures to post soon - I tried to take some today in their outfits So So made them but they are still a little big. If all else feils there will be Halloween pics - Katie is going to be a pumpkin (I know so unoriginal but oh so cute) and Tyler has a spider costume - I can't wait to see them in the outfits!

Poor little Tyler woke up today sick - mainly just a stuffy nose but it is still obvious that he doesn't feel good which makes us sad. We called the pediatrician and picked up some Little Noses saline drops and are using the "nose sucker" almost constantly which has helped. One thing that was reassuring, sadly at Tyler's expense, is that his dad now feels a little more confident, because when Tyler cried out early this morning Lance immediately jumped out of bed and went running to him. He could tell immediately that it wasn't his typical cry. I, and I am ashamed to admit it, was just becoming coherent when he was already out of the bedroom door! Katie has so far avoided the stuffies which is amazing since they sleep in the same crib and whichever paci we grab goes in their mouth, but let's hope she continues to be ok - I have a feeling she won't handle sickness near as well as her brother, if she is unhappy I am sure she will won't all of us to be too! I even have a sneaky suspicion that Tyler isn't hating it too bad since his mom and dad are snuggling and holding him even more than usual!!! I have to let go of the guilt that I somehow exposed him to a cold - we went walking in Warner Park yesterday, and went to the grocery store on Sunday but we were given the ok to go out at our last doctor's appointment and I think it has been good for all of us so I'm just going to chalk it up to one of those things that was bound to happen sometime, whether I took him out or not...
So, we are kind of just hibernating on the couch today and snuggling up - luckily we have some shows on DVR - Chuck, Desperate Housewives, Heroes - some of my faves!

Visitors! posted on 10/12/2008
Well, Pa Pa Skelton and Stephanie (Tia) visited the kids this weekend and took lots of pictures! The babies are becoming more and more alert for longer periods of time every day and starting to really focus on faces and voices which is fun!
Tyler and Katie loved having their grandparents in town - they got lots of hugs, cuddles and kisses.

The Fossick grandparents, So So and yet to be named Gandpa (Pappy Ray?), came by for a visit too!

The owner of the knit shop where Sandra works, Carolyn Smith, and her mother Pauline Jennings made some beautiful quilts especially for Katie and Tyler and we let them try them out.

And unfortunately there was a Vandy game this weekend so we got all decked out again- only to lose - guess it had to happen sometime.

I see now... posted on 10/07/2008
I now know why that woman duct taped the paci to the baby's mouth (don't get me wrong I certainly think she deserves all the jail time they throw at her) - I definitely would not do that, but "paci patrol" as we have dubbed it can be very annoying! No matter how long I stand over their crib or bouncy to make sure they have a good suction they will keep it in their mouths and seem to be content and happily sucking, and yet the minute I get settled in to the couch, bed, my meal - whatever - that thing inevitably falls out of the mouth of one or both of them causing instantaneous screeching!
Speaking of, I don't understand why as soon as you change a poopy diaper (and if it is Katie's you change it the minute it hits the diaper because of the full-blown scream she emits as soon as she is dirty) both babies suddenly start pooting (so forcefully that you HAVE to check) and pooping immediately when you get their clothes snapped back on! She is going to kill me when she gets older for talking about this stuff, isn't she?
Don't get me wrong, we are absolutely having a blast, just noting these little things that can be a bit exasperating!!! Of course, there are also the things that can melt your heart like this morning when I just had to get the camera because both of them were being so sweet and alert. Lance and I couldn't stop looking at them and telling them how absolutely adorable and cute they are and how much we love them!!! We don't have very many eyes open pictures and since we are getting rain today (finally) I had to use the flash which of course caused them to blink, so we still don't have very many alert pics, but here are a couple taken today when they turned 5 weeks old!

Doesn't he look like he is already annoyed at us!?!

Our little chunker!

In deep thought!

Already practicing to be teacher's pet (like her mom, definitely not like dad) raising her hand as if to say "I Know, I know!"
Oh, and I don't think I have posted it since Saturday but GO VANDY! All of you Auburn fans know that AU is our second favorite team, but I will admit that Saturday night's game was awesome! Our little Vandy fans have been good luck so far - maybe they can help us get just one more win and Vandy will go to a bowl - what an odd year that will be, Shellie and Lance become parents and Vandy has a succesful season!!!

Well, we (me and the kids) are on our own today waiting for the game to start. Carna is in town and went to the game with Lance, I don't think Katie and Tyler even know yet what they are missing! Luckily, Katie is awake so maybe she is wearing herself out for tonight since I am betting that after today Lance won't be much help this evening!
Here are a couple of pics of our little Vandy fans!

Katie is practicing the touchdown signal!

Tyler is resting up for the big game!

Ok, so I mentioned in another post that the kids were doing a "photo shoot." We were given (thanks Aimee) a gift certificate for a photo session with Mandy Johnson - http://mandyjohnsonphotography.com. Well, they had their photos taken on Tuesday and Mandy posted a preview of some of the pics on her blog - check her work out by visiting the above website. I'm posting the pics of Tyler and Katie here just so you can get an idea of some of the sweet, precious pictures we are going to have to choose from - she will have our entire gallery available in a couple of weeks so these are just a couple of teasers!!!
Oh, and I would be remiss not to give the little munchkins credit - they were excellent last night, still had to wake to feed them every three hours but they slept in between with very little fussing! I guess they knew that mom and dad needed to get a little sleep to not be so cranky and they obliged.

Katie Bug looking so sweet.

Precious Tyler

So sweet together!
