Just a couple of photos taken not too long ago - Tyler is filling out some - they both look like little Gangsters in these pics!

Wow, rough day!
posted on 09/30/2008

So, I thought I would be a nice little wifey and give Lance a break today since it is his birthday.  I let (he doesn't HAVE to get my permission, but hey we do have month old twins) Lance play golf today and thought it would be no big deal.  To date taking care of them by ourselves has been manageable, difficult but not impossible, and I admit I may have been getting a bit cocky thinking that we were really getting the hang of this whole twin parenting thing.  For the last two weeks the babies have been fussy just a little bit before feeding time, but mostly just asleep during daylight hours. WELL, today that all changed!  I should have known that nothing stays the same!  They had their photo shoot with Mandy Johnson today and surprisingly Tyler was the uncooperative one.  Katie slept soundly throughout the whole thing and Tyler was a little grump.  I assumed (wrongly) that after their big morning they would be tired so I planned to give them their 2:00 feeding and take a nap.  That was definitely not to be - they screamed (took turns freaking out) from 3:00 until 5:00 (the next feeding time) nonstop.  So, at my wits end I thought well, the 5:00 feeding is sure to put them to sleep.  No, no, no - that did not happen AT ALL.  They proceeded to continue to scream bloody murder - I would pick Katie up and settle her down only to hear Tyler revving up and then settle him only to have to calm Katie again (although nothing was working for her).  I tried everything - swings, bouncers, pack and play, mobiles, cribs, my chest (this one worked but alas I only have one and two upset babies), and then the magic - carseats, but not just carseats, that alone did not work, but carseats in the car driving down the road.  The minute the car pulled out of the driveway they were both silent and sleeping so I drove around town for at least an hour (and of course me being the freak I am pulled over at least six times to readjust their heads)!  So, if this high-spiritedness continues it looks like Lance and I might be out for some middle of the night drives.

Now we are home (with them still in their carseats and still sleeping thank goodness) and Lance has somehow convinced me to have a shrimp boil for him and a couple of guys.  I am sure the kids will be angels this evening and hellions again tonight - again I say that they are lucky they are so darn cute.  On a positive note, I think we got some great photos today of these two cuddled up together naked as jaybirds, I can't wait to see them.  I'm done "complaining" for now. I don't mean to gripe, but wow, these two are giving just a glimpse of the handful twins can be (and since we are talking Fossick twins I am sure it is a hint of what a handful they WILL be)!  I am still waiting to "get used to the sleeplessness" like everyone tells me will happen, so far the fatigue is in full force.

Today, they are officially one month old!!!

Vanderbilt - Game Day
posted on 09/28/2008

Found out today that Game Day will be at the Vanderbilt/Auburn football game next weekend.  Wonder if Katie and Tyler are ready for their first Vandy game...

Frown We are supposed to wait six weeks before taking them out and about.  Katie went to the grocery store with me, both were going to go but I just could not figure out how to take both of them and shop for groceries!?!  Had to wait for Lance to come home and keep Tyler, Katie was the chosen one because she had been screaming all afternoon and the car calms her down!!!  They also went on a stroll but weren't too fond of the bright sunlight so that was a short outing.  Anyway, a Vanderbilt game is probably a really bad idea - amazing that both Vandy and the Titans are 4-0 since the babies have arrived and prevented us from attending, maybe we were bad luck all along!!!

One Month!
posted on 09/28/2008

Wow, Tyler and Katie are almost a month old (on Tuesday)!!!  I almost hate to type it, but they have been sleeping a bit better.  We still have to wake them up every three hours to eat (and it takes about an hour to change, feed, burp, and rock them both) so we aren't getting much sleep, but I think (hope, pray, beg) that they are figuring out this whole day and night thing that has proven so confusing up until now!  They are already developing personalities.  Tyler is pretty laid back and just kind of chills and looks around the room while his sister tries out her brand new shrieking at the top of her lungs cry!!!  That could of course change at any minute but interestingly that is how they were in my belly too - she was the squirmy troublemaker!  Everyday they stay awake a little bit longer after eating and it is great (during daylight hours at least) to see them begin to interact with us and the world.  We haven't had a chance to add more pictures but will do so soon and they have their first photo shoot on Tuesday day too!

Katie is now eating over 3 ounces and Tyler is catching up.  Speaking of, time for the little munchkins to eat so I'll update later!
