Our day off: Pullen Park and the Farmer's Market
posted on 05/02/2008
Allana and I had today off from preschool, and Dan did not have work or school - a rare treat! We very seldom have 24 hours together, as one or more of us have school or work every day of the week.
Thanks for voting in our poll - most of you thought we should go to the beach. We decided to wait and try that when we have a place to stay overnight, since the beach is a few hours away.
Instead, we sent to Pullen Park and the Farmer's Market. For those of you in the area who have not been to Pullen Park, you must go! We arrived as it opened, and spent several hours of fun there. There's a train and a carousel and little boats for kids to ride. Each ride costs $1, but they only charge the kids for everything except the train, which everyone has to pay to ride. We ate ice cream and played on the sandy playground and just had a wonderful time. We also wanted to ride the paddle boats, but they're not open yet for the season.
Around lunchtime, we left Pullen Park and headed to the Farmer's Market, which is right around the corner. We ate at the seafood market there, then strolled through the veggie and fruit vendors. Allana tried lots of strawberries, and I bought fresh snow peas, asparagus, and garden peas.
We came home for nap time, fed the geese, ate a yummy dinner of salmon and sweet potato fries, and fresh garden peas, then went bike riding together before bath and bedtime.
What a wonderful family day!
