Happy New Year!

It looks like Lydia Grace is going to make it to a January birthday.  We've been having contractions - maybe one or two a day.  At 12 hours apart we're not too worried about them but it looks like things are gearing up for the big day.  We will be sure to keep you informed as things change so be looking for emails.

37/38 Week Checkup
posted on 12/26/2007

We had our second internal exam today.  There hasn't been much in the way of progress.  We went from 2 cm dilated to 2 1/2.  We are still 70% effaced and Lydia Grace is at -1, so no change from last week.  The nurse told me that she was going to go ahead and send my chart over to Labor & Delivery, which was very exciting to hear.

I'm measuring 36 weeks even though we are almost 38 weeks along.  Dr. K said that is normal and that there isn't a lot of growth to the uterus after 36 weeks.  Lydia Grace's heart rate was at 152 BPM which is also very good.

But the best news is that we are tentatively scheduled for induction on Jan. 9th.  That's only 2 days before our due date and there is still a chance we could go before then.  However, we know for sure that Chris' parents will be here on that day so assuming we do make it to the 9th they'll get to be there for the birth of their first grandbaby.

Progress Report
posted on 12/18/2007

We had our first internal exam today.  Everything has been going great with this pregnancy and it appears that we are nearing the end.  As of today we are 2 cm dilated, 70% effaced and LG is at -1 (which means she is almost completely engaged into my pelvis).  My doctor predicts that we won't make it to Jan. 11th.  Chris' parents arrive on the 4th so I'm hoping to make it to the 5th.  At this point I'm taking it easy and avoiding activity that could possibly start labor.  We're anxious to meet Lydia Grace but we want her to hold off for just a little bit longer.

Our next appointment is December 26th so we should have an update as to additional progress - if any.
