JOURNAL Snow and Restposted on 01/20/2008 Meredith has been sitting up and playing from that vantage quite independently - it's so fun to see her discover how she can maneuver differently now. It snowed again on Saturday, and we took Meredith outside very briefly so that she could see and feel the snow. We're getting ready for our big trip to Arkansas this week! Comments (0) Mirror Image posted on 01/17/2008 Meredith LOVES to look at herself in the mirror! She has a book with a mirror, and when I finish changing her diaper I sit her up to look in the mirror - we think she's actually catching on that it's HER in the mirror. She's also sitting up pretty well now. We don't leave her unattended, because she is apt to fall over suddenly (which makes her less than happy), but she is getting so strong. Meredith is really enjoying solid food now. We feed her solids twice a day (once at daycare, once for dinner at home). Comments (0) Meredith's First Snow posted on 01/16/2008 It snowed today! Meredith got to see all the fluff falling from the sky and the ground and trees and everything covered in white. She touched the snow - I wanted her to feel the cold, wet. She was unimpressed :-) It started snowing pretty late in the afternoon so no pictures, sorry. I was very sad, but Ben and Meredith had some quality time together. Comments (0) Babyproofing posted on 01/06/2008 In anticipation of Meredith's mobility, we started babyproofing the house. With the exception of one cabinet that now has a hole in the door, Ben did a fantastic job. Now we're just getting used to having to unlock to get into cabinets and open doors! Comments (0) 6-month checkup posted on 01/03/2008 Meredith did great at her 6-month checkpoint. Obviously she didn't like the shots, but she got over it quickly and at daycare they said she had a great day. All of her congestion/bronchiolitis is cleared up so that's great news - no more nebulizer treatments, at least for now! She's in the 25th percentile for weight, 50th for height, and 90th for head circumference (good news - she's staying along the same growth curve rather than jumping up). All the nurses said what a good mood she was in! Comments (0) New Developments! posted on 12/30/2007 Over the past few days, we've noticed that Meredith has really taken some leaps developmentally. She is sitting up unassisted, with our without the "tripod" arms in front of her, for longer periods of time before losing her balance. She seems to be "getting" peek-a-boo and laughs when we play. Meredith has started mimicking others a bit and becomes very alert when she hears her name. She's very interested in eating solid food now - she will open her mouth happily (even if much does get on her face and bib instead of in her tummy). She grabs and manipulates toys very purposefully. It is so neat to watch her grow! She went to daycare for a little while today and smiled happily at her teachers. Meredith already has her 2 bottom teeth, and she's working on another one on top. Today she sat up on her own for several seconds on a number of occasions - she's almost there! She's enjoying her new toys. Comments (0) |
