Happy Half Birthday, Meredith!
posted on 12/24/2007

It's so hard to believe that Meredith is 6 months today!  We wish her a very happy birthday!

In her half a year with us, she has blessed us in so many ways.  She has grown so much (almost tripled in weight from her smallest!), has 2 teeth, is eating solid food, sleeping through the night, holding her head up so well, and sitting and standing with some assistance.  She grabs toys that seem out of her reach, shakes them, moves them back and forth between hands, and loves to make noise.  She enjoys songs and talks all the time.  She's made so many friends and has met lots and lots of people who love her.  She is healthy and happy and sweet, and we're so glad that she's our little girl.

First Trip to the Beach!
posted on 12/21/2007

We drove to the beach today with the babies.  Meredith seemed to like putting her toes in the sand and feeling the ocean water on her feet.  She lay out on a blanket on the sand (well covered with her hat and in the shade).

Fun at Grandma and Grandpa's
posted on 12/20/2007

Meredith got to meet her Uncle Eric, Aunt Cheryl, and cousin Ryan for the first time today.  (They arrived last night, but Meredith (and her mommy!) was already asleep.  The babies seemed to enjoy getting to know each other, and we all really enjoyed watching them together.  The house seems so joyful and full.

Meredith got her second tooth this week.  They seem to bother her a little sometimes but she is such a sweet girl.

Her first trip
posted on 12/18/2007

Meredith started her first trip on Tuesday, December 18.  We started out pretty early in the morning, stopped off in Macon for meetings at Ginger's work, then stopped in Tifton for Ben's meeting, then made our way down to Tampa.  By the time we got to Florida Meredith was pretty tired of the carseat!  Grandma and Grandpa had gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that Meredith felt comfortable at their house, though, and she had no trouble getting to sleep in her crib.

Even Happier than Normal
posted on 12/15/2007

Her teachers say - and we agree! - that Meredith is even happier than normal over the past few days.  And given that she is teething, that's quite an accomplishment.  She is sleeping through the night pretty regularly (last night without even being swaddled, yay!) and mastering her balance when standing up with some help and sitting up with some help.  She's getting so strong!  She's had squash and sweet potatoes.  Her new tooth is very visible now when she gives a big open smile.  She's starting to play peekaboo a bit and she loves to shake her toys, turn them over, and make noise.  Meredith is going to have a big Christmas - we're all looking forward to it!

More Firsts
posted on 12/09/2007

After a few weeks of apparent teething, Meredith's left bottom tooth came in!  She is getting to be such a big girl.  She seemed to handle the teething quite well - some fussiness, but not awful.  She is such a sweet, happy girl!  She lets us know when she's hungry, but otherwise she's pretty easily consoled.  And she goes to sleep at night so well!  Aunt Patricia babysat on Friday while we went to Ben's company Christmas dinner, and Patricia commented on how easily Meredith went to sleep when she put her down.  We are lucky parents!

Rolling Rolling Rolling
posted on 11/28/2007

Meredith has started doing so many new things over the past few weeks!  Just before Thanksgiving she found her feet and now she plays with them often.  She passes objects from one hand to the other and grasps with both hands.  She is getting more comfortable sitting up (with help) and standing on her feet (with help of course!)  And although she has been rolling from her back to her tummy for a long time now, today she just kept on rolling, from her back to her tummy to her back to her tummy to her back . . . until she ran out of space!  She is moving and scooching a lot now - when she sees a toy she wants, she arches her back or rolls until she can get to it.  When she's on her tummy she'll pull in her knees.  Meredith enjoys trying out new sounds and laughs when we make funny noises.  Her laugh is delightful - it is contagious!  We think that she's starting to teethe a bit - she will fuss like she's in pain occasionally and feels better when she chews on a teething toy or we rub her gums.  She has gotten so big - it's hard to believe that she was once so tiny!
