JOURNAL Being Baptizedposted on 11/25/2007 Meredith was baptized today at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. She was an angel - she didn't cry during the baptism, and she slept quietly all through the service. She received a certificate of baptism and a sealed envelope that we're not supposed to give her until her 12th birthday. We were so proud of her today! Comments (0) Peek-a-Boo posted on 11/18/2007 She's hasn't totally caught on yet, but at school and at home Meredith is starting to realize that even though she can't see it, an object still exists. Her teachers say that she's delighted to play peek-a-boo, and this weekend she was playing with her ladybug toy and dropped it by her feet out of sight. She then reached down for it and brought it up to her again. It's so neat so see her learning new things every day! We've tried solid foods a couple more times, and she still doesn't like it too much. We'll keep trying! We had dinner at Food Studio and then went to see the Police. Meredith had a fun night playing with Elizabeth, ate her bottle, and went right on to sleep. What a good girl she is! Comments (0) Good Eatin' posted on 11/11/2007 Meredith tried her first solid food today, some rice cereal. I don't think that any of it actually stayed in her mouth - her tongue thrust reflex is still really strong! But it was fun to try and we'll try again later. She seems to be feeling MUCH better, and she slept through the night last night (hooray!) Comments (0) Good News so far! posted on 11/09/2007 From Ben: Meredith had an ultrasound on her head this morning and everything appears normal. We'll know for sure next week, but it looks okay now. She just has a really big noggin. She's feeling much better after her cold, though she's still on the nebulizer every three hours at least until Monday when she has follow up pediatrician appointment for her cold. And she's on antibiotics for and ear infection through next week. Ginger and I are feeling much better too, so everything is just about back to normal. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Comments (0) More Doctors posted on 11/05/2007 Meredith had a doctor’s appointment today. Dr. Beckford prescribed a more aggressive treatment for her RSV and bronchiolitis, with different drugs delivered through a nebulizer. (The medical supply company delivered the nebulizer to our house!) It takes a little while for the treatment, about 10 minutes, which she needs every 3 hours and also once at night. She also has the beginnings of an ear infection, so she's taking medicine for that. She shouldn't be contagious any more (although Ben and I seem to have caught it, urgh!) but we're keeping her at home instead of daycare for right now. Also, when they did a check of her head circumference, they discovered that her head has gotten significantly bigger since her 4-month check-up, on October 25 - less than a week and a half ago. She started in the 25th percentile, at 2 months was at 45th, at 4 months was at 75th, and today was at the 95th percentile. While it's entirely possible that Meredith might just have a really big head naturally (more room for her big brain, genius girl :-), she is going to have an ultrasound on Friday morning at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital to rule out the possibility of fluid. It's probably nothing to worry about, but we appreciate your thoughts and prayers! Comments (0) Poor Baby! posted on 11/01/2007 Meredith had to go to the emergency room tonight - it was a little scary! She has a RSV, a virus that affects her respiratory system. She is coughing, spitting up a lot of her food, doesn't have much appetite, is sneezing, has watery eyes - poor baby! She is taking medicine to help her breathe. She has been home from day care while she gets better. We hope that Meredith feels better soon! Comments (0) |
