Meredith did an excellent job recognizing her colors.  She pointed to orange, blue, purple and yellow when we asked her, "Where is <color>?"  Great job, Meredith!

Riding my pony . . .
posted on 04/27/2009

Meredith is feeling much more comfortable in her class at school - she wouldn't go home the other day, because she wanted to stay and color!

We had a great time at the Spring Fling on Friday - she rode a pony all by herself, it was great!  Daddy walked with her, but he didn't really need to be there because she held on.  And she loved the "jumpy," the inflatable bouncy thing.

Meredith loves to participte during circle time.  She does a great job answering different questions.  When asked, "What kind of things live in water or the ocean?" she responded with fish, shark, and jelly fish.  Way to go, Meredith!

I Do It!
posted on 04/19/2009

The "can" and "myself" are understood - but over the past few weeks Meredith has really upped the exertion of her will.  Sometimes it's quite sweet, seeing her want to do things on her own.  She has renewed interest in going potty, putting on her clothes, and making decisions.  However, it's sometimes hard to tell exactly what she wants, and if we misread something by a little bit, her emotions are at fever pitch.  She's had several doozies this week, in the parking lot of a restaurant, when she didn't want to take a nap, after she bit me (I don't thinks he really meant to, but we needed to correct it).

That said, she has also been very, very good.  After an initial warming up period, she and Kristen Moody had a great time on Saturday night (while Ben and I went to a shower).  She really enjoyed the special children's service at church this Sunday, even giving a spontaneous "Alleluia!" during a prayer.  She was wearing her new white dress from Grandma and puppytails, and she got LOTS of compliments on how cute she is.

Lots of ups and downs . . . but mostly ups.  I sure do hope that it doesn't get worse at 2!

Meredith did a great job during our color match game.  She matched the colors: Blue, Purple, Yellow and Green.  During circle time we also sang the song, "The (Color) Balloon Goes Sailing."

Happy Easter
posted on 04/12/2009

Meredith had a wonderful Easter!

The Easter Bunny visited us last night and left a Little People house (with a Mommy, Daddy, and baby), some new crayons, and a ball to play with outside, as well as some new barrettes, pajamas, and 2 outfits.

We went to church for a potluck breakfast, and then the Easter Bunny actually came to visit there!  Meredith wouldn't let the Easter Bunny out of her sight - every time she had a chance she went up to give him a hug or talk to him.  We had to ask her to let other children have a turn!  She had a great time finding eggs at the Egg Hunt at church.

After nap time, we looked for eggs that the Easter Bunny left in our back yard.  Meredith did great and found all of them!

She has been in a great mood since naptime, laughing and giggling and singing.  Tonight she was looking up and walking around, saying "Up in the Sky!"  So Ben and I started asking her if things were in the sky - "Is the sun up in in the sky?  Is the moon up in the sky?  Are the stars up in the sky?  Are clouds up in the sky?"  And to each, Meredith answered, "Yes!"  Then Ben asked her if Grass was up in the sky, thinking he would trick Meredith.  But Meredith thought a second and said, "No!"

Also, when she was in the bath tonight (after some very messy mashed potatoes) Meredith picked up her crocodile and her green cup and said, "Same color.  Green!"

Easter Eggs and Playdate
posted on 04/11/2009

Meredith really liked dyeing Easter eggs this morning.  Ben let her see while the tablets fizzed and she told us what each color was.  Then we talked about how the eggs were white, and then dropped the eggs in the cups.  She was delighted when each came out colored!

Keira came over after dinner and the girls were very excited to see each other.  They had brownies and bounced on the ball.

Meredith stayed home from school Friday and Monday, although she really didn't feel very bad (just threw up a few times).  While Ben and I took turns staying home, Meredith entertained us with lots of songs.  She knows all the words to "Baa Baa Black Sheep," "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," "ABC," "Rain, Rain, Go Away," and many more.
