Michayla still has her days and nights confused!  She sleeps off and on from about 6 am until 1 am the next morning and is up from 1 am until 6 am being fussy and if she falls asleep it is only for about 30 minutes.  Michayla's doctor told me that she will switch on her own.  Everyone is giving me their advice on the matter and right now I am focused on getting sleep anytime I can.  "If Momma isn't happy, noone is!"  I am not my happiest unless I get some type of sleep so I sleep when she does whether it is sleeping until noon with Michayla or going to bed at 9 pm when she does.  Thanks for all the advice from people, but the best advice I have heard yet is to welcome advice but only use what I choose. Wink No offense to anyone... I know everyone is just trying to help.

Michayla had her first doctor's appointment today.  She was given a clean bill of health!  She gained a little less than 3 oz since we left the hospital so the doctor said that was great.  She did not like having her temperature taken though!  Cry  She cried and cried but I would too if they took my temperature that way!  Chris and I told her to get used to it because they will do that until she is 2 years old!  I am sure she didn't want to hear that. Wink

Michayla had a great day today.  She got to meet my friend Melissa.  She gave us a gift card to Chilis which we will enjoy one night when we don't have anything to eat for dinner.  She also got to meet my friend Sarah.  Sarah made us an awesome Chicken Pot Pie.  We have such great friends!!!

Today was like night and day compared to yesterday!  My milk finally came in and Michayla slept in her bassinet throughout the day and night!  She was actually happy!  I thank my milk for that!  She was just so hungry and the Colostrum wasn't doing it for her anymore.  Chris and I declined having visitors and rested the entire day when Michayla slept.  It was GREAT!  I got more sleep than I had had all week!  Michayla smiled at Chris and I today after she woke up from her long sleep.  It erased the entire bad experience the night before!

We were discharged from the hospital around noon today.  Chris and I were SO ready to leave.  We had NO idea what would be in store for us for the next 16 hours!  To say that it was a difficult night is an understatement!  She refused to sleep anywhere except in your arms and she screamed practically the whole night!  My milk hadn't come in yet and she seemed hungry all the time despite my continueing efforts to nurse her!  We called the Pediatrician and she said that it sounded like she was dehydrated so we were told to supplement with 1 oz of formula after I breastfed until my milk came in.  I really hated doing that but we did.   Chris got her to sleep FINALLY by singing to her at 7 am.  She slept in our bed (the one thing I said that I wouldn't do) and she actually slept for 5 hours!!!  It was AMAZING!!!

My contractions began to get worse through the night.  I woke up in so much pain that I couldn't stand it!  They wouldn't let me get my Epidural until I was 3 cm dialated and in the "active labor" stage.  It got to the point around 3 or 4 a.m. that I was screaming for them to check me because I NEEDED the epidural immediately!!!  My contractions were coming back to back at times and to say that they were painful is a MAJOR understatement! They finally made the call for the epidural and I couldn't thank the Anesthesiologist enough for making my pain go away!!!  I was checked about 7 a.m. and I was 5 cm dialated and 100% effaced.  They started the Petosin and by 9:30 a.m. I was 7 cm.  I progressed about 1 cm every 1 1/2 hours and I started pushing around 3:00 p.m.  Michayla was born at 4:26 pm, about 42 hours after I originally went into labor. She weighed 8 lbs 10.5 oz and was 21 inches long.  She was worth every minute of labor, every amount of pain, and every amount of effort it took to get her here!  I love her so much!

Still no Michayla!  Chris gave me a Mother's Day present today though.  A gold necklace of a mother looking at her baby with some diamonds on the side!  So beautiful!!  It also came with a Lexox frame for a picture of Michayla!  I have the BEST husband!
