32 WK UPDATE
posted on 04/03/2008

I had another wonderful Baby Shower on Friday (3-28). Lalo, Steph, and CK had a work-friends shower at El Tiempo for me. Everything was so cute, and I ate my weight in the M&M's that were supposed to be centerpieces! Baby Watson got some much needed items, including his first gift with his name on it, a burp cloth and bib combo. Very brave of Steph since we keep changing it, haha. Everyone at my work has been so accommodating with this pregnancy, and so giving. We are very grateful. The highlight of the shower was that my Secret Stork(s) came out of the closet. I knew it was LL (Lalo), but I had no idea that Steph and CK were in on it. LL gave me a scrapbook with pictures and emails from all the co-conspirators. It is one of the funniest things I've read in a while. I'm glad they all had fun fooling me, and I love all of my gifts that I have gotten over the past 5 mths, which include washcloths, teethers, bibs, onesies, passies, toys, and more.

I also had a Dr. appt on Monday (3-31). Just my routine every 2 wk deal. My belly is now at 31, and heartbeat was very loud as usual. I go back at 34 wks, then again at 36. At 36 I will get an ultrasound, which we all know is my favorite thing to do, and I should be able to get off of the Procardia and bedrest. Then he is free to come meet us whenever he wants! His movement has kicked up a notch. I need to be careful what I wish for! I didn't think that it was possible, but he has found a way to move even more in his tight apartment, especially pushing his feet out as far as they will go on my right side. Baby Watson also has a distain for the shoulder strap on my seat belt. Since Friday, every time I get in the car he sticks that foot out and tries to push it off of him, for the entire ride. I swear it isn't tight on him, he is just already showing his inherited attitude. I think it's precious though. I'm so in love with this little guy! So right now I'm still on bedrest (sort of) and looking forward to my final shower next weekend.

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY
posted on 03/28/2008

I had to go to the dr yesterday to get the baby monitored. His movement had decreased since Tuesday, and that is not normal with this busy little Watson. So for 1.5 hrs I sat hooked up to the heart and contractions monitors. Still having irregular contractions, no big deal. The important thing is that his heartbeat was strong. And of course he started moving while I was hooked up there, b/c he hates things on my belly. I love his little attitude! Today he is moving more frequently. I think it is b/c I'm at work today and he gets to hear other voices besides mine, haha.

And there is a video up now of our little guy moving around the other weekend.

PEDIATRICIAN INTERVIEW TIME
posted on 03/18/2008

We went to a consultation today with a pediatrician. The dr. is Bryce and all of his younger brother's pediatrician. How funny. Bryce thinks highly of him b/c he saved his life when he was a toddler and drank gasoline. Yep, those are the genes in my future. I still had some questions that I wanted to ask before making a decision on Tyler's dr. There are 11 appts within the first 2 years, and that doesn't include sick visits. So choosing the right dr is important to me. He shares his practice with one other dr, and they are part of the Texas Children's Pediatric Associates. That is a major plus for me, as well as the fact that he is rarely unavailable so Baby Watson will have a consistent dr. He teaches at the hospital as well, so he will always be current on treatments, etc. Also, he has pediatric RN's available 24 hours for my routine questions, so I don't feel like it has to be an emergency to call after hours. Most dr's only have 1 or 2 nurses per dr, but he has 4 and that was also something I was looking for. But most importantly, he is very conservative on antibiotics and other medications. I won't preach about that, but I want his immune system to be as strong as possible and that means no antibiotics for stuffy noses, etc. Oh, and they schedule appts so carefully that there is no wait time, so that eliminates the problem with the sick/well kid waiting rooms. The dr doesn't take the baby from the mother to examine him either, he can stay on my lap or in my arms. I'm looking for big and small in this decision. Oh, and he reminded me that my mother in law will have a problem with me if I don't choose him. That's not true, she assured me. But I still thought it was funny. I think he will be the winning pediatrician, partly b/c he answered all my questions to my liking and partly b/c he knows Bryce's family history already-which we have established are the genes we have to be concerned with. Just kidding.

DR. VISIT UPDATE
posted on 03/17/2008

(30wks) We went to another follow up this morning. Baby Watson is still low, but heartbeat was great and my belly is at 30, which she said was "perfect", so he is growing just fine. He has been so active the past few days. I honestly cannot explain the movements he is making. I don't know where he is finding the room! My belly is constantly "rolling" around. Seriously, it is right now. I have also started feeling his little hic-ups, which is really cute. I took a short video of my belly moves yesterday that I will post soon. Anyway, the Dr. said I need to stay on the same low level activity until 34 weeks....and she may let me off bedrest completely! So excited. I will get to enjoy the end of the pregnancy a little more. She just wants to take all precautions until then. She feels that if he wants to come into this world after that, he will be healthy enough to do so. I am still praying that he makes it until 38 weeks. We go back in 2 weeks, and I get an ultrasound then too. I can't wait to see him again!

BABY MOVES NON-STOP, MOMMY NOT SO MUCH
posted on 03/13/2008

So it stinks that I have so much energy in the 3rd trimester, and I cannot use any of it! I'm still getting to go to work 2 days a week, but I can feel him so low on those days. That is actually a good thing b/c it reminds me to behave the rest of the week. Otherwise, Baby Watson seems very happy in there. He is more active than ever lately, which is fun for us. Little knees and elbows poke out at us and we poke back. My stomach is so tight and I don't see how he has much room. Bryce is showing concern that Tyler doesn't seem to sleep much. No matter what time I wake up at night, for those frequent restroom trips, he is moving all around. And when I say move, I mean my body jolts. Then I have such a hard time falling back to sleep b/c I love feeling him move around and trying to figure out what little body parts are where. Or worse, I will wake up on my back and the paranoia takes over that the vena cava vein is blocked now and he has no blood. Of course this is when he doesn't want to play and I lay and wait to feel a movement for what seems like an hour. I don't know how I have all of this energy when I'm barely sleeping. I hope that lasts through the 1st year! We did go to another Hypno-birth class on Saturday. The therapist said I was doing great and going really deep into the relaxation, so I should breeze through my labor. Always good to hear! We have one last class in April. I also signed us up for an infant CPR class in June, and a breastfeeding class for me in a few weeks. I just feel like I can never know enough and honestly the breastfeeding doesn't seem as simple as it sounded before I read into it. I still have a 6 month goal for it though.

Well keeps us in your prayers for a good Dr. appt on Monday, permanent bedrest could be in my future if she doesn't like what she sees.

DR. VISIT UPDATE
posted on 03/03/2008

(28wks) I had a follow up at the Dr this morning. I had the glucose test for diabetes and the RH Neg shot. She also checked to see if I was dialated, which I'm not! But Baby Watson is lower than last week. She wants me to come back when I'm 30 wks and we will go from there. Just little mile stones is what she's going for. The good news is that my belly is growing, which in theory means he is too. His heartbeat was great and his movement hasn't lessened at all. From being up and around all morning I can definitely feel him in a very low spot. It makes me feel like he is about to come out, and I catch myself doing the pregnant waddle. I am to continue bedrest and lower my already low activity level. So hard to keep me down! But the world's not ready for him just yet, so I am trying my hardest. We love him so much and know that we will love his impatience too!

1st BABY SHOWER
posted on 03/02/2008

I escaped! Bryce drove us to Baton Rouge for my first baby shower on Saturday...and then back afterwards on Saturday. It was so great to see my friends...even if I was being told to sit down the whole time! We received some really great gifts from my registries, and also some very touching gifts that I am so appreciative of too. Lesley gave us the most beautiful painting I could have dreamed of for our little boy! It is a crown with his initials, and the detail is more than impressive. Amber also gave us his bedding that she made, which is gorgeous! Bryce put the bedding on the crib first thing Sunday. So the nursery is almost complete and so perfect now that it includes such sentimental gifts. Love creative friends! Oh, and Aimee's diaper cake and favors were very creative too :) Ashlee's mom was nice enough to have all of us at her house for the shower, which included 5 of us pregnant girls and a few toddlers. We took a photo in due date order. So crazy. We're so blessed that Baby Watson has such wonderful aunts, I just wish we all lived a little closer. Also, I only cried once during the whole day! Brandi is at fault for this-she gave me a blanket that is embroidered with "For this child, I have prayed". Enough said. So I just want to thank everyone who attended the shower and the great hostesses that made my 1st Baby Shower such a memorable one, and I want Baby Watson to know one day how lucky he is to have all of you in our lives.

Hostesses: Ashlee, Brandi, Amber, Lesley, Aimee, Tracy, Tara Jo.

BABY WATSON HAS A NAME!
posted on 02/27/2008

And the winner is.....Bryce Tyler Watson. Big shock to not many of you. He will go by Tyler however. I have been preasuring Bryce for weeks to just pick a name already! I need monograming, and Lesley needs to finish his nursery painting! We sent out a text to a few opinionated people we love last night, and the overwhelming vote was Bryce Tyler. The other top contender was Tyler Ried. So, since Tyler will read this one day, I will be kind when I say--DO NOT ever refer to him as Jr or Ty, please.
