Day 6,

I forgot to mention that he opened his left eye today and rolled it around, then it stopped and i swear he fixed it on me for 3 secs before it closed again.. I was taunting him tonight telling him to open them and he was trying really hard everytime i said so, it was like he understood!

Day 6 (evening),

Just another quick update (once he's passed the critical stage i will slow down with the updates Laughing)

In 24hrs they are taking out his (i think it's called respirator) from his nose and he will be 100% breathing on his own.. His Jaundance has pretty much gone so they have taken away the lights, his blood transfusion went really well so all his levels are where they should be, no infections and pretty much no more blood (so far) when they suction him, so all in all a great result today.. Very Happy

I stayed with him for about 40mins today and he held my finger the whole time which was beautiful..

Day 5,

Well because i didn't have time to "grow" my tummy went flat the next morning so i don't look like i was ever pregnant.. My feet are pretty much deflated and i can wear pants that i couldn't wear last week (because of tightness on thighs) so im happy about that.. Besides a numb finger my Carpel Tunnel has pretty much gone THANK GOD! Laughing

We went and saw him tonight and he is having a blood transfusion tonight which is a good thing.. He has had bloods taken etc and because it takes a long time for bubs blood to regenerate they needed to give him a top up! They say it's totally normal and are amazed that this is his first dose! Very Happy

They did more suctioning tonight and they did get more blood out but it was old blood so that is a good sign that what they are giving him for it is working.. He is now on 23% oxygen and the rest is natural air, so that is great and he has alot less lines going into him that most premmy's have so that is another positive.. We just take each day as it comes and whilst there is still a long way to go, he is progressing each and everyday!

Day 4,

Well he is still in critical condition but still going along well considering.. He has had a little blood in his lungs which they notice when they suction his lungs and they said it's because his valve hasn't closed properly because he is premmy.. Sad

They have de-creased his fluid which is step one and then antibiodics is step two to see if it closes naturally and then 3rd is an operation if it is needed, but the fact that they know about it and are looking after it makes it not stressful.. They did x-rays this morning and he has no blood clots or seapages in his brain which is great and his lungs look fine besides the blood of when they suction them..

He is taking my colossum (1ml every 2hrs) and that is still continuing and his breathing was quite relaxed today, best we have seen it so we will be seeing him later tonight to see how he has progressed for another day..

Day 3,

Well Mark pretty much gave you a run down of the drama that hit us on Thursday night so i won't go into to much more but i will explain it in short.. Very Happy

I was starting to have pains at around 5ish when i left work on Thursday and i came home and ate dinner and they didn't go away so i called my sister and she said it must be braxton hicks so she told me to lie down on my side for 1/2hr to see if it gets any better and it didn't, so we decided to call the midwife but whilst looking for their number i felt a gush so i went to the toilet and it was blood so i started freaking out and said nope call an ambulance..

They got here and took me straight to the hospital and as soon as they started asking questions my back went on me! I was having severe back pains and now labour pains and all they could give me was GAS! I had a panadol for my back and that was it.. I wasn't allowed any drugs because he needed to be fully alert being a premmy so when i started pushing (3hrs later) they took my gas away and i had NOTHING and i was so proud cause i never screamed! Laughing Pain wise it was so severe that it reached the point that it was only going to get better in my mind and seconds later it was over with..

Anyways i tried to hold off hoping Mark was going to walk through the door but he wanted to get out and pushed his way through! Mark missed it by 10mins but he saw him before i did which was special..

After 10mins they took him away and looked after me as i was bleeding a fair bit and they thought i might have a cut inside etc.. as i lost 900ml blood but it eased after about 5hrs and i was up and walking around no problem..

I feel so NORMAL it is hilarious! i was bright and bubbly the next morning, and still feel the same way.. Oh and i have a flat tummy too!

Anyways Ronan is going swell! He is pretty much breathing on his own and they said he's coping like a little trooper.. His gestational age is correct but no one can get over his size, probably why he is coping so well..

My mum is down here with us at the moment and family have been around and seen him and everyones been great! I haven't wanted to see friends nor don't want to for at least a week just until i get some rest and spend time with my mum so im enjoying family time at this stage..

Day 1,

Mum an Ronan are doing well. Mum is simply glowing atm, which is to be expected for a new mother. Ronan is doing very well, his vitals are all within the green, They have him in a little 1/2 hummidie crib, incased in some plastic, with warm humid air circulating around him, to help his skin from going dry. They had oxygen pumping into the little cacoon since last night, at which time it was at 38% but when I left this evening they had normal room air going into him!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

They are thinking of keeping Ronan in for another 2 months, at which time he will be transferrred to another hospital. Julia on the other hand is expecting to be released tomorrow. But we shall see how things go. Julis is expressing collegsomthing which they want to start feeding to Ronan, as they have a Sugar and soon a fat drip hooked upto him for feed.

Umm not sure what else to say, other than a big thankyou to everyone for the well wishes, calls, messages. I will try to keep you all up to date with whats happening, untill Jules returns home.
PS: I have yet to touch our little man, as I want his first touch to be with his mother.
