What have I been up to lately
posted on 11/19/2008

Rorie is very busy these days.  She loves to cook and do dishes in the kitchen.  After every meal she pushes a chair into the kitchen and does the dishes.  She likes cooking with beans, flour, water, etc.

Rorie also likes art projects espicially ones with paint and glue.  She goes to art class once a week with her grammy.

Her favorite show is Word World and she is learning her letters from the animals on the show.

She loves hanging out with her friends at playgroup, the park and play dates.  She is very social and plays very well with other kids.  She likes to share too (most of the time).

Rorie speaks in full sentences most of the time.  She is learning the alphabet, can sometimes count to 10, and knows all her colors.  She tells us the funniest stories sometimes.

She recently learned to climb out of her crib so she is now in a toddler bed.

Rorie can speak in full sentences now and we lost track of how many words she can say.  She just learned her colors this week she knows red, orange, yellow, green, brown, black, white and pink (the first color she learned).  She also knows some letters when she sees them written down.

Her latest thing has been hoarding all her toys, books, blankets, etc. Her crib has barely enough room for her in it with all the animals.

She loves animals, going to the park, seeing her friends, coloring, hanging out with her grammy & grandma, jogging and driving the car with dad.  and many more things.

She is working on potty training!  Which is tons of fun.Surprised

Rories Words from Costa Rica
posted on 08/03/2008

Rorie's Speak from Costa Rica: We counted recently and Rorie can say over 100 words.  Here are some of her favorites from Costa Rica.

Backpac: Rorie woke up every day in Costa Rica around 5am to go on a monkey hunting, backpack ride with her dad.  She would wake up in the morning and say backpac.

Oo oos: Monkeys.  Rorie loves searching and seeing monkeys.  She saw 3 types in Costa Rica:  White face, howler and titi monkeys.

Water or Pool: We did a lot of swimming.

Fly: She loves it when her dad throws her in the air in the pool or ocean.

Cat: Rorie loved seeing and petting the kitties at the different lodges we stayed at.

Tent: We brought a tent with us for Rorie to sleep in.

Pitza: Pizza her new favorite food.

Holla: Hi in Spanish.  Rorie can say Holla, Chow (how they say goodbye in CR) and Vamos (lets go).

Drive: Sean let Rorie drive the rental car in the Osa.  Now she wants to drive where ever we go!

Im in Costa Rica
posted on 06/18/2008

Just a quick note to say i am having fun in Costa Rica. I decided I like swimming in the pool, after a few tears but now it is lots of fun. I still don´t like the beach, especially with out my shoes on. I am learning to nap in my tent better so that is good for my parents. We are in Samara for a few more days, then we go to a place in the jungle near Domincal.

I have been waking up at 6am or earlier everyday to go for a monkey hunting walk with my dad. We have yet to spot any, hopefully there will be more in the jungle at the next lodge. I am enjoying being spoiled by having my parents and grandparents all to watch and play with me.

Okay off to have more fun in CR.

Whats Rorie up to these days?????

She is learning to run in that cute wabbly toddler way.

She loves to talk, she talks from the minute she wakes up until she goes to sleep.  She has a word, sign or noise for almost all animals.  Monkeys are hoohoos, lions are roars. She says fishie, ducky, and many more.  She signs zebra, pinguin, doggie and a few more.

We are trying to work on some more Spanish words so she will be ready for our trip to Costa  Rica next month.

She still loves books, she likes to read and be read too.  She also likes to search for her favorite animals in books.

She also enjoys helping, she can empty and put away some of the dishes in the dishwasher.  She also likes to help with laundry, putting her diapers together, cleaning up her toys and wiping up other messes.

We are having fun chasing Rorie around oh and cleaning up after her.  She has started to eat more foods again.  She even eats some veggies now.  Although I still sneak them into her daily.

Her favorite things:

Watching Signing Time: She can sign more, baby, done, eat, milk, hat, dog, wash hands, cracker and a few others.  When she wants to watch signing time she will either get the remote or go to the TV and sign baby (its the first sign in the show).  She prefers signing time over cartoons even though its the same episonde over and over again.

Bath Time with daddy.

Nursing

Running around outside and at the park.  She walks/runs well now and can walk on uneven ground and for longer distances like 100yrd down the track near our house, or down the street to see the neighbors.

Playing with friends.

Talking: She babbles all the time still and makes her cute trilling noise still.  She can say nana, done, mama, daddy, diddie (birdie), doggie, fishie, makes monkey sound, cheese, baby, tree...  She seems to come up with a new sign or word daily.

Asking for things: She enjoys demanding things like nursing, crackers and more food (all in sign).

Rorie went to the snow this weekend.  She had fun but isn't too fond of the cold white stuff.  She is walking everywhere now and likes to escape us any chance she gets.

Rorie can sign and say 12+ words now.  She will ask to nurse, for more food and tell you when she is done in sign.  We love watching baby signingtime with her.

We went to Tahoe for a 4 days to snowboard (thanks Aunt Dynah for babysitting in Tahoe), and Beth's Special Olympic Snowboard Team had a 2 day competition.  Rorie had a blast at the Special Olympic dance, she ran around the room with 4 boys from the snowboard team following her and picking her up if she fell down.  She even did a little dancing!

Walking!
posted on 01/23/2008

Rorie has been learning to walk since her birthday.  Well last week her friends came over, that didn't know how to walk yet.  My little show-off went from taking a few steps when she felt like it.  To walking everwhere and she hasn't stopped since.

She had a fun day today!  Her mommy went to the snow with her Special Olympic Team from work and Grammy is on a cruise so she got to play at Neri and Matthew's houses today!  Thanks guys for wearing her out.

She is talking all the time too and can now say mamma, dadda, doggie, bye bye, nana, night night and I forget what else.  She has been a picky eater lately and enjoys throwing what she doesn't want on the floor.
