Happy Birthday

I turned one on Dec. 12th. We had two fun parties. My friends all came over on Wed. and brought donations to the Sacramento Crisis Nursery. On Sunday, my other party day more friends and family came by, oh and I woke up with a cold, so I was a bit snotty. I got lots of cool stuff and had fun eating my cake.
Right around my birhtday I started taking 2-3 steps on my own. Now I can walk a few feet before I plop down on my butt and crawl. I am getting better at this walking stuff everyday.
We went to Christmas eve at my Grammy and Grandad George's and I saw my Hogan grandparents on Christmas day! Oh and I even went to a Solstice party at "grandma" Chris's house!
Besides walking I am learning new sounds, new words and eating lots of new finger foods. I don't let anyone feed me anymore and I'm on a veggie strike! Although I taste them once in a while when mom sneaks them in my food.

Its been a fun month!
New Things:
I just started to stand alone (10-20 seconds). I love finding new things to pull-up and cruise on (like the TV, cupboards, oven, etc). I can eat lots of stuff and enjoy my mom's chicken noodle soup. I am such a mooch that I have gotten to try a soft pretzal, ice cream and frosting lately. I can eat lots of stuff with my hands and I am working on using a spoon. I still love books, now I can turn the pages myself and I read outloud too.
Sleep!
I am sleeping better, which makes my parents happy. I now go down at night buy myself with out crying. We are still working on my naps.
Grammy!
I get to hang out with grammy a few days a week we play, go on walks, eat and play some more!
Hockey!
I went to my first field hockey games this month and I got to watch mom play goalie in the high school alumni game! She sure does look funny in all that gear.
Halloween!
I am the cutest little giraff in the world for halloween. I went to a halloween party with playgroup, it was a lot of fun seeing all my silly friends.

I'm 9 months old! I love to crawl fast, climb on things and pull up to a stand. People say I am observant because I like to watch whats going on. I like to suprise people with my favorite sound gagagagagaga (it is best described as a long gargle or rolling the r in Spanish), everyone asks how I do it (look for a video/audio on the movie section soon)!
I can clap, play peek a boo and wave. I love to dance, play the baby piano and sing. My favorite things to play with are the remote, cell phone and stuff in the dishwasher. Oh and I moved into my own room last month. Did I tell you my grandma painted it like a jungle. Its almost done, I like to talk to the monkeys, birds and pet the fish. I am sleeping a little better but still not all night. I now have 3 teeth with my second top tooth about to poke through.
My mom is proud to say I still nurse like crazy, wear cloth diapers and eat mostly homeade baby food. I like food, cheerios and teething biscuits are a lot of fun to eat. I have even had chinese food!
I will update everyone again when I get back from our trip to Florida. Maybe dad will let me go scuba diving this time.

We went on our first family camping trip to Collins Lake. We went with Aurora's buddy Dean and his parents. The kiddos had fun swimming, playing and getting dirty. Aurora crawled all over the campsite looking for leaves and rocks to eat!
Aurora is pulling herself up to a standing on her toys and mats. She can take a few wobbly steps while holding her play table. Of course she is crawling like crazy and can now sit down while crawling. She has been eating a ton of new foods and enjoys learning how to use a spoon.

Cozumel- Aurora's first vacation was tons of fun, as you can see from the photos. We spent most of the time at the pool while Sean went scuba diving. She loves to play in the water, splash and swim. She even kicks her feet when we swim her around the pool. However she didn't like the ocean very much, I think it was the sand. I enjoyed a few dives while Aurora hung out with Addie the babysitter. It was a great experience for Aurora, she really enjoyed Addie.
The people in Cozumel enjoyed playing with Aurora while we were out and about. The waiters even held and played with her at Senior Frogs so Sean and I could finish our lunch. It was easy having a baby in tow in a Latin country where children and family are so important to the culture. Aurora did great with all the traveling. She got to have fresh papaya and bananas for breakfast every morning. Enjoyed her naps in the hammock and lots of swimming. She made friends with many other babies and kids in the pool. We even met two mom's and babies from Canada that decided to vacation a week in Cozumel during their full year of paid maternity leave (and I was happy to get 8 weeks)!
Oh yes and we would like to note that we did the whole week with Aurora in her Ergo pack (No stroller)! This is quite an acomplishment with an 18lb baby. Next time though we learned we should bring a stoller so we can go to dinner while she sleeps.

We are off on our first family vacation. We fly to Cozumel on the red eye, Tuesday morning. We are going easy on this trip. An all inclusive dive resort. Aurora can't wait. Check out her new pics with her life vest.
Her friends Soren and Cate came over on June 12th which was her 6 month birthday. They had fun playing in the loft. Aurora is such a good friend that she laughed with Soren
and cried with Cate
